Nameservers just changed to Epik.

How long until Parler is back up, now that it is held in Epik account and nameservers are directed to Epik servers?

Samer - you should try a drink other than "kool-aid".

The center right / farther right can set up networks from satellites to browser but NetSol Web.com can still shut down their domain.

Samer - you should try a drink other than "kool-aid".
You should try and speak coherently or if incapable, get back to English learning before making poor provocative posts that can't be duly addressed

They should have done it earlier, a down site/app/game/online service doesn't do too well in general (with a very limited few exceptions)
The nameservers were changed, now is the time to add an A record and get back online, if they have an host already

This site is down for me.
Worse than down, unreacheable. They didn't add an A record (IP address) to connect to yet, so it doesn't resolve

Very proud of Epik's response, that was an excellent piece.

I'm going to disagree with that. If the response was short and sweet, maybe 1 paragraph, to the point, with facts. Maybe the first paragraph would have been fine but of course..........off into the wilderness they go with the political statements.

Comes across like they're trying to justify what happened on Jan. 6, when there is no justifying that.

Gab.com suffered similar fate ahead of Parler. Several payment and financial services such as Paypal, Coinbase, and Visa has banned them as well. But the Gab CEO has been preparing for this for the past two years. He created his own payment gateway from scratch and accepts payment using Bitcoin.

Times like this is a challenge for the strong, one is forced to use wits and cleverness. The weak ones go the easiest route by play-acting as victims, accuse people with lack of evidence, and worse loot, break properties and burn.

Epik is not new to controversy but they are known only in domain circle but this will attract news in mainstream media and epik will become a go to place for all right wing websites, which in turn force/ put pressure on payment processor like Visa/ Master card to act like "what paypal did to Epik." . Epik have great potential but I feel it mix business with political views of Rob. Hope Rob look for its current client's needs and don't expose Epik to any more controversy.

Parler did not commit any crime at all, and so does Epik. If indeed it is true that there were users in Parler talking about violence, then they should also remove Twitter and Facebook from Google and Apple. It's clearly a witch hunt. The bigtechs Twitter and Facebook has been used as meeting place for protests many of it resulted to violence.

In the medieval times, the sitting king would accuse a certain political opponent with "witchcraft". The political opponent can even be a relative, a potential rival to the throne. Witchcraft had a death sentence. Even with lack of evidence, the accused "witch" will be killed.

Visa and other financial services are doing a modern witch-hunt, only following a noise. A noise that can be detrimental.

First amendment rights only protect from government infringement. They have nothing to do with private companies or platforms.

Private companies can decide who they do business with, or allow to use their platform.

Additionally, inciting or organizing violence is not free speech.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It seems like many of these companies have made a decision that any association with a seditious incitement of insurrection is bad for business.

I posted this in the other thread, Amazon's explanation to Parler. It's your basic violating the TOS. If you violate the TOS you can get zapped. Not sure why so many struggle to grasp this. BTW, Epik enforces the TOS as well at times. See incel site.

------------------

Amazon's Explanation:

Dear Amy,

Thank you for speaking with us earlier today.

As we discussed on the phone yesterday and this morning, we remain troubled by the repeated violations of our terms of service. Over the past several weeks, we’ve reported 98 examples to Parler of posts that clearly encourage and incite violence. Here are a few examples below from the ones we’ve sent previously: [See images above.]

Recently, we’ve seen a steady increase in this violent content on your website, all of which violates our terms. It’s clear that Parler does not have an effective process to comply with the AWS terms of service. It also seems that Parler is still trying to determine its position on content moderation. You remove some violent content when contacted by us or others, but not always with urgency. Your CEO recently stated publicly that he doesn’t “feel responsible for any of this, and neither should the platform.” This morning, you shared that you have a plan to more proactively moderate violent content, but plan to do so manually with volunteers. It’s our view that this nascent plan to use volunteers to promptly identify and remove dangerous content will not work in light of the rapidly growing number of violent posts. This is further demonstrated by the fact that you still have not taken down much of the content that we’ve sent you. Given the unfortunate events that transpired this past week in Washington, D.C., there is serious risk that this type of content will further incite violence.

AWS provides technology and services to customers across the political spectrum, and we continue to respect Parler’s right to determine for itself what content it will allow on its site. However, we cannot provide services to a customer that is unable to effectively identify and remove content that encourages or incites violence against others. Because Parler cannot comply with our terms of service and poses a very real risk to public safety, we plan to suspend Parler’s account effective Sunday, January 10th, at 11:59PM PST. We will ensure that all of your data is preserved for you to migrate to your own servers, and will work with you as best as we can to help your migration.

- AWS Trust & Safety Team

Additionally, inciting or organizing violence is not free speech.

The line in the sand can move with this concept, even as it has with hate speech but in it's clearest manifestations, ambiguity or doubt couldn't be summoned.

That is fine, but the line in the sand that the first amendment has nothing to do with private companies or organizations is static.

And people don't think it should be moderated?

It's easy to have an academic argument, but let's at least have the guts to look at the sort of content that is being posted and say whether we are okay with it or not.

I'm not a fan of de-platforming, but there is equally a serious issue with the likes of Parler and Gab. I'm probably a little right leaning myself (but somewhat of a floating voter) but the stuff on those two platforms isn't far off what you'd find on white supremacy forums. It's got very little to do with traditional conservative values and ideologies. It's mostly just hate.

I think some providers have acted a little hastily and perhaps they should have been given a little more time, but they did urgently nerd to review their moderation policies.

Far-left threats of violence on Twitter.

Twitter Censors President Trump While Countless Violent Tweets Remain Active

The article you linked to has a tweet saying: Unpopular Opinion: Violence Is The Answer, on this page you linked to - https://realitycircuit.com/2020/05/...while-countless-violent-tweets-remain-active/

They used that example because they feel it's an example that should be handled. But............

Now, a voice on the Right, Brandon Tatum:

"Last time I checked necessary violence is the answer."

Then - "Quit being a coward." Comes off to me and go out there and do some violence. Of course he says that from the comfort of his couch.

So again.

People get banned from all sides.

You can find examples of things not getting handled from all sides.

Not yet banned. Nor the tweet was deleted. The number of these threats of violence should be enough for Twitter to be kicked out of Googleplay and Appstore.
