question .Store or .Shop ?

Do you believe either of these extensions will become popular?

If someone is selling the ".shop" extension of our desired name, is there anyway to determine the cost of renewal apart from asking the owner?

The .store is available to hand reg but they want $900 per year in renewals!

The BIN now on the .shop extension is cheap (unless the renewal is high)

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You can use a .BOUTIQUE too.

Based on registration stats ( https://ntldstats.com/) I think .xyz extension has greatest potential among the nTLDs. Short and generic. Nice 1-word, dictionary words still available.

Between the 3, .shop, .store and .boutique, it's .shop that I've seen the most out there
But it remains a nTLD with lower sale volumes, pay attention to what you buy and be on the lookout for potential buyers, for every name. You probably need more than for a generic .com to be sure your selling chances are high enough

.shop is shorter than the alternatives

there is one more like them: .market

I prefer .shop, because it sounds more global. .store is for English speaking countries mostly , I think.

I use .store it makes more sense if you have an ecom store. Many brands and public figures use .store, even the UAE uses .store (https://radix.website/dot-store) My only issue is the high renewal costs but .shop isn't that much cheaper.

No one says "ecommerce shop" "ecommerce store" is more common.

.dot shop .store have seen some entry level pricing to get people to buy them. eg: $2.99 first year
.shopping
.supply
.supplies
all similar.
I have a few names using these extensions i would be sticking to one word if dabbling.

There's a cumbersome way to see these renewal fees, and that is starting a transfer, even if you don't own the domain (auth-code will not be correct). You see the amount in your basket, and can delete the domain. Note that some registrars will pre-authorize your CC or Paypal for a while, even if you remove these domains before actually checking out.

Asking your rep at your registrar is also working.
