Hello Guys,

I want to know about namesilo. How good they are? Any disadvantage having domains with them?

Currently I am using Godaddy, Name.com and namecheap

Whatever @namesilo decide about how to treat expiring domains at auction - let owner renew after a bid or not - owner should receive a notification when the domain leaves their account.

In the absence of bid notification emails, owner has no idea domain is going or gone.

Doesn’t the owner know the name is going or gone when they don’t renew? I don’t think they should email the owner about bids. If they want to know they can look up their names at auction.

Not exactly.

Namesilo's timeframe for renewals, auctions, and restorations is at https://www.namesilo.com/Support/Expiration-Process

If a domain gets a bid and you don't renew it by the end of the auction, on day 31 after expiry, then it goes right into the buyer's account and you can't get it back. Namesilo used to send an alert telling you if a domain had received a bid so you would know you had to renew it before the end of the auction if you wanted to keep it.

If a domain does not get bids at auction, you can renew it normally up to day 33 after expiry, and for $75 you can "restore " it from day 34 to day 64 :

The domain can only be renewed during this period using the registry restoration process. You can still renew the domain through your account, but the cost will be $75. This increased cost is due to the much higher cost we need to pay to the registry for domain restorations. Domains can also only be transferred to a different registrar prior to entering the Expired (restore period).

So if a domain has been auctioned off and nobody told you, you could assume it was in your account still and make plans for it and get a rude shock when you logged in and it wasn't there. Anytime a domain goes out of your account you really should get an email.

I only found out about these unnotified auction exits by seeing the list of deleted domains in my Sedo account - new owners were adding the Namesilo domains to Sedo.

These emails should still be going out a day prior to the auction ending, if your domain has an active bid on it. We send out multiple reminders to let the registrant know prior to their domain expiring, as soon as it expires and if there is a bid on the domain a day prior to auction ending.

However, one behaviour we have noticed in our marketplace is that some users wait until the last day to place their bids so it's possible that a domain does not have a bid on it when we check whether to send out the email. Can you please PM us (or send us an email at [email protected]) with the details of your expired domain in which you didn't receive an alert so our team can investigate further?

Did you change your procedures? Because I recall getting notifications just hours before end of auction, but that might be due to time zone difference.

Can I suggest you review your support logs to see if this issue has been raised, and do some quality control on your support responses. I'd also suggest you start soliciting user feedback on support responses - there has been such a marked change in quality that I have been considering starting a thread for people to comment on the current quality of support at Namesilo.

By implication you are not, yet, sending a notification to say a domain has left the account. That would really help. Yes in the domain history part of the Namesilo site you can dig that out, but you have to go looking for it.

Someone may have a domain listed for sale on multiple platforms and, not realising they no longer have the domain, not remove the listings. If they got an offer or BIN in the restoration window, they could pay the $75 to restore the domain - so they don't necessarily delete all listings on expiry.

This is to protect us against bot traffic which we have seen an influx of. Please PM me your IP and ill get you white listed so you dont get the captcha again

It's really stupid to introduce captcha to every auction to just prevent bot traffic.
Especially if this captcha will ask you to verify again and again without ending.

It should not ask you over and over again unless the same IP is being used, by someone else perhaps, to make automated calls. Please PM me your IP and ill check if that is the case. If not, I can whitelist it so you do not have to face the captcha

I have a small suggestion,

Is it possible to integrate dns setting, renewal setting, locking setting, and etc. to different PROFILE settings?
Similar to the profile setting of Epik and Dynadot.

And the default domain setting does not apply to incoming pushed domains.
It is not good.
I have put forward this to support at NS years ago.

Could not accustomed to this New UI.

And it seems a lot of customers do not like it too.

Can you clarify on which specific pages you're experiencing issues? The main account pages (once logged in) are still under the old UI, it's predominantly the homepage and product pages which have been updated to the new UI. Would help to understand which pages you're having trouble on.

I'd prefer any and all new pages to be reverted back. Transfer-in page is new, I actively do not like it. The original one was easy and convinient, the new one is not. Etc...

Thank you for your feedback. Reverting back isn't really an option because the old pages weren't mobile friendly and the majority user feedback we have received favours the newer pages. If there are specific features or functionalities not working as well as before though, please let us know and we'll do our best to keep improving them.

With regards to the Captcha, it should only trigger when the IP behaviour may be caught up in some bot activity. If you're repeatedly seeing it, please email us at [email protected] with your IP and we'll whitelist you.

@namesilo, what about the 60 days transfer lock, when a domain was transferred to namesilo, so that our domains will be eligible for afternic premium network and sedo MLS right away and we don't have to wait 60 days? If epik and a few others can do it, why not namesilo? I think you will gain many more customers with this feature.

When you edit NS, locking, renewal setting, etc. of a specific domain,

the page should return to the Domain Console page of that domain,

Is it possible to expedite the transfer out of NameSilo? It's a long time since I've done this. When I get the acknowledgement of transfer, I thought you could click on that link and expedite the transfer. But the link only allows cancel of transfer. So is it true that you cannot expedite a transfer out of NameSilo? As I said, it's been a long time since I last did a transfer out there.
