Hello everyone,
does it still make sense to register domains with "virus" in the name? (Maximum 2 words I would say)
This is going to be a huge market with a lot of money. Does it make sense to register them in foreign languages? Or can I tick off the topic already?

As someone who got chewed out for my coronavirus domain. I would say tick that IDEABOX off with TNT.

given the state of the world and all the emotions surrounding it a minefield you don't want to cross. Anyone with a "virus" domain is basically left to fend for themselves or wait it out for God knows how long. After this pandemic is over and the vaccine is on hand ready to inject and this is all behind us? Will people still take issue if you try to sell virus domains? probably.

so why bother? there's plenty of other topics and niches and keywords out there to make money on.

if you want to go into this "niche"

I'd look into keywords like...........

Mental
health
medical
tele
remote
distance
distancing
lockdown
contactless
app
datacenter
jobs
essential workers
delivery
toilet paper
coin
crypto
bit
bitcoin
btc
fit
fitness
wellness
bank
banking
invest
investing
tv
movies
property
real estate

If you really must go into "Virus" niche then how about...

PCR
vaccine
antibody
antigen
immunity
genetic
DNA
RNA
sanitize
copper
ai
robot
Robots
Bot
Bots

then you can also look into tried and true keywords that never go out of style like

best
the
e
i
cheap
free

buy
pay

I had also bought the domain for help with computer virus. This is always up-to-date.

I have a few “virus” domains and I do intend to keep as virus obvi has a computer connotation for many years now before this medical virus. To be honest, the good ones are long gone. Anything you find now will be subpar scraps.

Its interesting how virus is a dirty/negative word even before this but viral is accepted by all as a great term.

The reason people will or might chew you out is people are dying and it sounds like you are excited to profit off a global tragedy.

I don’t necessarily see it that way because we jump on all possible trends the second they present themselves in all other niches. I would not expect all people to sit it out on this one even though to outsiders or even other domainers it might look unethical.

Anything with corona- just don’t go there imo.

On ebay, sedo etc. there are lots of domains on the subject of "virus". There is nothing reprehensible about informing about the topic. And the domain can also be used for information about computer viruses. I also have a few in my portfolio. For the german-speaking market.

I think the topic "virus" will occupy us for a longer period of time. Computer virus will also remain a theme. Or is this a misinvestment? What do you think?

Sedo and Afternic will remove your listings containing virus term. Might also ban your account (sedo), who knows. Also there's no money in them.

  • If it's a word in a dictionary, it might have some meaning

Where did you hear that from? I have no issues with them and my virus domain
