There is a problem in hand reg definition, most domainers that report hand reg are actually referring to dropped domains found in dropped lists, these are actually not new domains but aged domains that just dropped. No problem at all in hand registering dropped domains because these domain do actually sell if you can find good ones.

True hand reg is comming up with new names without using any drop lists, this is called sometimes names speculation. The problem with this method is that there was no demand on these names in the past (and that is why they are available) and so you need to hold for long time (ex: 2-5 years) before there is any demand.
I don't really think there is confusion you might get a few drops posted but if those drops sit in pool for a year and registered another time they are hand registered. People are probably well aware they are posting drops when they post in reg of day thread.

Gets to the core existential question of your domaining journey. Are you buying domains just to resell to other domain investors - or - are you a domain investor.
There are some people here who do this, they buy domains and sell them to investors here along with their top domains in the market

I hand reg most of my domain names and if you follow technology closely you will see that some terms did not exist ten, or even five years ago. Some tech innovations are emerging as you are reading this! If you do your research well and triple check the spelling, you can uncover gems. I did, continue doing so, and it has paid well... A savvy buyer puts his or her ego aside and makes a respectable offer for a domain name that defines an emerging category, no matter when the name was registered.
How do you Find Upcoming Technology and Trends that are future?
Can you please share Resources and Websites which helps to see upcoming trends and technology 📈

Nothing wrong with hand regs but please keep in mind the pool of of good or great names is much smaller when newer. You need a clear why when purchasing.

There are many good names available and I have great names that are better than the old names they buy, not only age is the most important i prefer the name befor anything
