What domains do you have related to the new currency called Libra?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It means unregister them if you can.

You assume that you know my intentions. If that is your assumption, your sentiment is understandable.
Your intention is to register LBR domains because that’s the abbreviation for the coin created by FB. If you intended to use LBR randomly, you wouldn’t be posting in this thread.

So yes, your intent is blatantly obvious.

I agree with you, but are you saying you never registered a term that's related to a popular trend or something you didn't create?

I think you should open a thread just for that discussion. Because policing people like this won't accomplish anything if you havent seen for years. But i think a thread with a honest discusion about this could take off and have an impact.

Because, i think many people genuinely need help. You could even have an option in the thread to talk about what trends have a TM etc...

There’s a vast difference between trends and TMs. Crypto and cannabis are trends. Specific company, unique creations, like Libra or ethereum are TMs.

What prompted you to register that particular domain? Your answer will speak volumes.

I registered that domain because it was available to be registered.

Diem is a very popular term!

You can’t be serious. Let’s push further. You’ve never posted a “diem” domain until this thread about Facebook possibly branding as such. Is it impeccable timing or are you playing off of what big companies are establishing as their brand?

To quote Mark Zuckerberg...

“Look guys, this is getting out of control! By my last count, we have 11,200 Libra domains, and now about 1,300 Novi domains and you know very well we at Facebook are not going to buy your junk – it’s a waste of money!”

“Not only that, but we have an unlimited budget for UDRP filings to protect our brand. So play nice, stay away from these domains!”

I know the vast difference professor keith-I'm sure you just saved me from registering google.co and Amazon.club.

Have you ever registered a questionable domain/TM? That's my question...which you conveniently didn't answer. You've been in the business since 2007 atleast. Because, sometimes we approach others with our chest puffed up. You're agenda isn't to win some argument on this thread...You want to see a real change in the industry. Since i've been on namepros, this has been happening and it lead to zero change.

It may be hard to find someone on namepros who hasn't registered a questionable domain at some point. Maybe Namepros could set a new rule to ban or strike any account that post such names that have a registered TM. Because if Namepros(#1 domaining community) isn't influenced to act and if they are no general discussion board for it..then this dead end of responding to every post with a TM name will go nowhere. you have 1000 more post to respond to.

Anyway, my suggestion for the thread remains the same vs policing 1000's of posts.
It deserves a dedicated thread..where TM's can be shared if they exist and general knowledge and to influence a new wave of integrity in the business.

I think it can make a difference...

To quote Mark Zuckerberg...

Thanks for sharing, very good point.....

BUT..is this really his quote? Is this pic real?

I looked on Instagram and it’s not there, and ONLY REFERENCES I can find to it on google are all of the same artical by DomainGang??

I mean the sign looks kinda photoshopped and and the “SIGN” he is hold reads like a typical angry ”domainer”.

In short was this made up?

Note- agree libra names and TM brands should not be registered to play off those brands.

I just want to know if ZUCK actually posted and said this that’s all.

NVM just found the answer by looking at DomainGangs page again...

I’m not sure whom is worse...

Those that Reg TM Names, or those whom spread, create, and market “false / misinformation “ 🤨 👎🏻

No - All post there have a 100% badge if it´s true

I just seen that as my last post shows! I’m not a regular there and if I was just a random person I wouldn’t know the difference at a glance for a quick read ...this is How people get misinformed and false facts.

The point behind it is great though, stay away from TM brands.

Back in 2006 when I first started out, sure, I registered domains which were in TM violation. It only took a matter of months before I realized that you cannot do that.

It makes sense that people new to the game will register TMs and junk. It’s part of the learning curve. That said, there are several in this thread that are anything but new to domaining and have no issue infringing on someone else’s unique brand. That’s a no no.

In the case of a thread like this, the mods should absolutely step in and shut it down. It’s no different than a 40 page thread of showcased registrations centered around Amazon or Apple.

Agreed...It would be amazing to see the day everyone clean up their portfolio of any questionable names. That can bring integrity to the whole industry. Though even when you create you're own names..you're gonna still have folks calling us squatters. Reshaping the image of this industry is gonna take a community.
