Intel Project Alloy - A Must Read
http://www.pcworld.com/article/3108...first-open-source-third-party-vr-headset.html

The pace of change with new VR product designs is about to increase exponentially.
And while this is one thing to move that along, it's not the only thing.

I think it's better to stay away from all of that in the domain name structure.
Holo-vr, ar, mr, xr ... oh too much.
Also I red somewhere that mr acro - mixed reality was created a few years ago but that it has not become popular in use. On the other hand, there is a possibility that it will become the most popular in a few months. So who will know it? Unfortunately I have already created a couple of dn's with vr in front. Now I think they will be worthless many years in the future. This technology will be of sufficient quality for popular and useful use only after 10-20 years. Yes, there are already various "glasses" and other stuff on sale, but what about the quality. They haven't even invented a camera that can record it decentin order to produce it. In order to be of good quality, they have to use hundreds of cameras at once. Similar thing as with 3d tv. 20 years ago I watched a movie in New York in a 3d cinema about the history of New York and only one more was shown. Every day for years just those two movies. The feeling was identical as if I were there. When I still remember that, I can't believe it, great and frightening in the same moment, but even today, after 20 years, it's still not of good quality 3D in a commercial sense. So I will not use vr, ar etc. in domains. especially because they develope all of those in parallel and who knows what will be most popular acronym or two of those. If nothing in the case of auto and robo acros I am pretty sure that auto will be more popular then robo relating to "autonomous" for vehicles and other stuff. Too risky in my opinion.

Well, if you read through this 4 year old thread thoroughly, you will find me making many of the same points.
But there is no format winner. They are all separate techs, each on there own trajectory. Some may disappear or be incorporated into others we have not known yet.
Each there own specialty use.
VR is the most likely to succeed in the short term.
Utility use of AR would be a close second and coming in a popular way from Apple in the next year..
The holy grail of a VR/AR / MR/XR / - virtuality (as described) type of holodeck is probably 2 decades away.
But that will not stop the names use of terms like 'holodeck' by example before we get there.

Totally agre with you. As you are much more into that matter could you please suggest me if I still sometimes decide to put vr, ar, mr in structure of some dn is it better to put it in front or at the end of domain name or it totally depends on the term to which it is attached. Pretty sure holo is much better to put in front.
Thank you in advance.

I would not wish to advise you on this. It is a common question and whole threads are devoted to it i'm sure.

Everything is a case by case. Nothing fits all.
And holo probably more so. It can be a noun, pronoun or a adjective.
As I have stated before, VR/AR would normally be used at the end when branding. Think OculusVR
(the name/image you wish to project) + (what you do) is a common with branding. But not universal.
Products are normally the reverse... think VRcheckers

When you see someone use something different, you must also ask how much money may have been in their budget for a name. Or that it may be more important to their future plans. Most start-ups have a limited budget and normally do not have the money for proper marketing folks or a name that they never really calculated into their funding. They do not always make the best decisions. As a domain'r, that could be a advantage or disadvantage. You must put your marketing hat on to do this well.

The problem comes to be with many domain'rs that they first try to find a available name then try to match something that would fit it. You should be doing it the other way around.
When all decent names are taken, move on quickly. Or, make low ball offers, Or, keep track of the segment and watch the drop/auction lists. I picked up vrgoggle in 2011 after a 4 year wait and watch, and for a hand reg to boot. (I was not watching often enough and it fully dropped)

There is no secret formula... just persistence. Judge everything for what it is, and what it is not.
Every name is a snowflake,
And the only universal rule is that they are all heavier than air, but not the same weight.

Fox Partners With Facebook To Produce Boxing Events In VR

https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2020/11/10/Media/Fox-Facebook.aspx

I can't see a sport more suited to it and as easy to do AND is likely to bring newbies to VR

vrsports.org

I'm thinking of expanding my holdings in that sports niche. just a few careful ones from my short list.

Something positive... I'll take it where I can find it.
The Oculus Quest 2 VR headset was pre-ordered 'five times more' than previous model

https://www.techradar.com/news/the-...e-ordered-five-times-more-than-previous-model

Yes, it's quite exciting. I don't think I've seen a negative review of the Quest 2 anywhere, other than obviously the big concerns about having to link your Facebook account with it. Zuckerberg apparently wants to sell 10 million, and it looks like he might be on track.

I watched highlights of the Amir Kahn vs Alvarez fight four years ago in the Gear VR, and it was amazing back then.

Time will tell but likely a investor play.
Record shows it xferd 8-27 is at GoDaddy and Parked .

Apple to be a future buyer or not, it's worth the price if you have the money to float for 3+ years, good investment. Someone may have jumped the gun on Apple's 'Just One More Thing' statement, which is not about the glasses we now know.
Apple probably not set to release a AR product till 2023. Not that they would not buy in advance.
They did made that mistake once.
Unlike most releases for them, for something like this, I'm sure we will have 6 months advance notice to public release of product.

It's a good sign about confidence anyway. but looking at the full report... wow.

VRhandz (thank me latter... it's available at the moment)
Not my niche. Can't see many players in need. Perhaps a couple ?

Under construction does not mean anything.
I have used it myself to thwart off malicious claims to the name, but never actually build it out.
Other I build out enough to say, I have used it all these years later etc

But the coaster thing has been a early hit in vr.

So, want to find the right word for it as all the 'top of the head' names have been taken for some time,
look for the same that also describes a social experience of that coaster ride.
Riding on that same vr coaster with friends anywhere in the world.

I'm sure you understand my thinking. The right name does not necessarily need VR or Coaster in it.
It can be inferred or similar.

While it is not something I am chasing after, if I discover a name, I would grab it.
Just trying to expand your horizons with all/any niche. Be specific, use a rifle not a shotgun.
