Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
From our side, there would be the 5% listing fee from the marketplace sale, and the additional 5% payout fee if the funds are withdrawn. Unfortunately, PayPal may also charge additonal fees for international accounts. Usually, these fees would be a maximum of $4.99 and would only be deducted from the payout funds for payout requests of under $500.00.

For some recipient accounts, PayPal will not deduct the charge when we send the funds but will instead deduct a fee of up to 5% (we find that the fee is commonly around 3%) from the amount received by the buyer. Unfortunately, when this is the case PayPal doesn't provide us with the option of deducting the fee from our side.

ok but why dont u do mass payment to paypal..like dan..gd. sedo...etc ... then pp never charges extra. now for 99% it will be 4 to 5% fee... regardless of payout amount ..ty

I'm not familiar with the mass payment service myself, but it looks like PayPal stopped offering the service in September 2017 and only existing users are able to use PayPal's Mass Pay service. As we didn't offer payouts until November it's likely that the service wasn't available to our team, unfortunately.

if they stopped it then sedo gd dan etc would not be using it. but they do.

PayPal's website states that the Mass Pay service was deprecated in September 2017, however existing users are able to continue using the service which is likely why the companies mentioned are still able to send mass payments.

@Dynadot I'm having a hard time managing my domains.

Chrome Browser
Windows Laptop

The oversized dynadot logo is preventing me from accessing anything.

Issue is no longer occurring.
I'm glad to hear that the issue didn't persist, I'm not aware of any other reports of the same issue occurring so this shouldn't be common or recurrent but please let us know if you do see this again.

I recently opened dynadot website on mobile. It suggested me to download mobile app.
@Dynadot can you please clarify why does you app want to:

access approximate location (network-based)
access precise location (GPS and network-based)
view network connections
view Wi-Fi connections
pair with Bluetooth devices
access Bluetooth settings
take pictures and videos
connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi
retrieve running apps
read phone status and identity
run at startup
...
?

I simply want to manage or register domains, like all other users. With all due respect, this simple task has nothing to do with reporting to dynadot (and, most notably, to some unknown 3rd party Umeng Analytics) what other apps I am running, what is my phone setup, etc...

I have spent considerable time debloating my phone, but... :

Thank you for sharing @tonyk2000, we do understand your concerns and reached out to our app team for clarification on when the app would require those permissions.

Our team has advised that the 'take pictures and videos' and 'read external storage' permissions are required to support our live chat's photo upload feature. We also need to request the 'write external storage' permission in case an app user needs to download a file, such as a registry's terms and conditions which are often in .PDF format.

Umeng Analytics is a tool that can collect bug logs. In order to have a better experience, we need to know whether there is an error, such as a crash when the user uses the app. Umeng Analytics requires more permissions, such as network, Wifi, Bluetooth, etc., and in order to be unique to a single device, Umeng needs to obtain the identification code of the device, so the 'read phone status and identity' permissions are required. We have integrated the message push function in the app so that users can receive messages when the app is running in the background, such as auction notifications. The permissions required for message push are similar to Umeng Analytics. We will not abuse these permissions, nor will we share this information with others.

Please feel free to disable any of the permissions if you still have concerns, although this may restrict certain functions of the app.

Current Transfers

in processing queue (usually processed within 24 hours)

Why it takes so long to process a transfer in or out?

Missing the old days when you can transfer domains in or out of Dynadot in just 5 mins.

Pay in GBP - £8.25
Pay in USD - £$8.99 = £6.65 as about this post time

Just realised I have been shafted so far as I have been paying in GBP. Is there any way to purchase in USD if you are from UK? as this is cheaper.. Account is prefunded.

This is for .com domain

Quick update. Spoke with live chat. They have escalated to management team to see if anything can be done.

Currently got around £64 in pre funded acc which would result in 7 domains + some left over, when converted to USD could be 9 domains + left overs

It seems Dynadot has a problem sending emails? Some order confirmation emails do not arrive, and I received a transfer confirmation email five days later than it normally arrives.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Everything is slow right now. Slow to show paid is most disturbing. Slow to initiate transfers and yes the emails are all delayed.

Yes, had the same, yesterday. All emails arrived correctly in the end, though. Just hours later.

it seems they use EXTREMELY shitty conversions rate. For example, a .com is actually just a little MORE expensive in EUR than in USD (9 EUR instead of $8.99) ;) (when it should be around 1.2 times CHEAPER)
Seems to be a problem on all prices with non USD currencies!?

Transfers into your Dynadot account can sometimes be delayed if our system isn't able to automatically retrieve the domain's WhoIs information on the first attempt, which can sometimes be caused by a temporary connection issue or limitation with the current registrar's WhoIs servers. In these cases, our system will automatically retry the process and initiate the transfer once the information has been retrieved, or flag the order to be processed manually by our orders team if we're unable to initiate the transfer automatically.

For transfers out of your Dynadot account, we create a 'Transfer Away' order and send the approval email as soon as we receive the transfer request from the gaining registrar. This can sometimes be delayed, unfortunately, but we do usually receive the requests within 1-2 hours. The email is then sent within a few minutes, and the domain is released to the gaining registrar as soon as the transfer has been approved by the registrant.

There is no requirement to retreive this info anymore... DynaDot still does this (why?). So, most of bulk transfer-ins are delayed (if it is the same losing registrar). Not only Dynadot limits a number of whois queries per IP/day(hour, etc.) to Dynadot-regged domains. Most of other registrars are doing the same...

Unfortunately, any credit added in GBP couldn't be used to pay for USD orders as we're unable to convert currencies on our side. You are able to change your currency in the top-right of the page however, alongside the shopping cart icon, and can use any currency you prefer. You can also set your account's default currency here, under the 'Account Options' section:

I'm sorry for any trouble this has caused, we were experiencing delays with outgoing emails of around 30-60 minutes and PayPal payments were also being received with around a 30 minute delay. Both issues should now be resolved, but please do let us know if you continue to see similar issues.

That's fine, but couldn't non-USD prices be a little better compared to the USD ones? Or this will unfortunately be the price to pay to work with non USD-currencies with you? The thing is that most people may not notice this at first. You expect prices in different currencies to be closely correlated (it usually is, pretty much everywhere). Here, the conversion rates aren't very good for the customers (in non-USD currencies).

EDIT: Why accept these currencies, then? Just make everybody pay and deposit in USD by default, and the conversion will be taken care of by the credit card issuer, bank or paypal. This would be better for customers price-wise (maybe not for you, though).

Thank you for your feedback, I see that this has been recently escalated to our upper-management team who are reviewing the policy. We do understand your concerns, as when you spend funds from the marketplace proceeds you are spending your own funds, however, at this time the account spending level is based only on payments made into your account, rather than proceeds credited to your account, unfortunately.

You do also have the option of withdrawing the marketplace proceeds, and as payments from marketplace proceeds don't increase your account spending level, any withdrawals would not reduce your account spending level.
