Get ready to journey to Perth, Australia as I interview long-time domain investor and digital marketing extraordinaire @Ed Keay-Smith .

You’re in for a treat tuning into this podcast. Ed and I discuss a quite a few topics in this show — domain investing, domain developing, domain parking, and “affiliate arbitraging” domains. We discuss why Ed believes .com.au, .co.uk, and .in are sleeper markets for domain investors, and his strategy and thought process for how to best price domain names. One topic you’ll want to hear about is why Ed “affiliate arbitrages” 100+ domain names from his portfolio, and how this rare and unspoken strategy earns him high 5-figure revenue annually — mind blowing and boggling! 🤯

i was listening about the "affiliate arbitrage" section...
when people were doing/talking about arbitrage in parking it was a matter of buying traffic from specific sources to be "sold" on PPC ads....
Here in this "affiliate arbitrage" i heard nothing about buying traffic to be monetized with affiliate campagins /CTA and so on... Am I correct?

A shame it was held across the other side of the continent as I would have been interested in attending had it been held on the East coast of OZ ;)

.com.au is not meant for investment purposes!

The policies are very clear:

The com.au 2LD is for commercial purposes...

1. To be eligible for a domain name in the com.au 2LD, registrants must be:

a) an Australian registered company; or
b) trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory; or
c) an Australian partnership or sole trader;
d) a foreign company licensed to trade in Australia; or
e) an owner of an Australian Registered Trade Mark; or
f) an applicant for an Australian Registered Trade Mark ; or
g) an association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory; or
h) an Australian commercial statutory body.

2. Domain names in the com.au 2LD must:

a) exactly match, acronym or abbreviation of the registrant’s company or trading name, organization or association name or trademark; or:
b) be otherwise closely and substantially connected to the registrant.

https://www.domainregistration.com.au/policies/schedule-c.php

Registering domain names outside of these policies is asking for legal trouble IMO.

As I said, .com.au is not meant for investment.

I'm concerned that even after meeting the strict eligibility requirements, some people may think that they can start registering Australian domain names as an investment to resell, and they cannot according to the following policy rule:

Domain Name Eligibility and Allocation Policy Rules for the Open 2LDs | auDA

...

SCHEDULE A
ELIGIBILITY AND ALLOCATION RULES FOR ALL OPEN 2LDS

...

Prohibition on registering domain names for sole purpose of resale

8. A registrant may not register a domain name for the sole purpose of resale or transfer to another entity.

I've realised that I may not have been 100% clear, but cannot edit my previous post.

You can invest in Australian 2LDs in the sense of developing a site that makes you money (as many people do) but your not supposed to purchase these domains for the sole purpose of reselling them.
