What is everyone/anyone using for self hosted "For Sale" scripts?

I was using Domain from @Atta but it isn't maintained any more and attracts spam to an un-usable point.

More recently I was using Domain Parking Script from Gochilla, but they have dropped off the internet. Sadly it was almost a perfect solution for me except for a couple of points, no sender IP capture and no effective spam control. I will probably just pay for some custom coding on it, unless I can find an active solution.

Basically I am looking for something simple, basically a glorified contact form to capture contact information from any interested parties.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Why not go with a wordpress auction script for domain auctions? It's pretty much the same set up as a domain sales page when you put "make offer" button on it.

With the added bonus that you can turn a bid into an account.

the other thing is you can set it up to have adsense banners for "Ad revenue" like a banner up top like on Namepros a banner on the far right and far left and bottom and in the middle.

banner ads are much better than text links.

the scenario above you get.

1. Domain parking page.
2. sales lander
3. revenue generating ads
4. plus added bonus to turn any domain listing into a live auction eliminating the commission fees at other domain auction platforms.

I was previously running a WP domainer add on from HTMLpie (highly recommended), but have moved towards the KISS principle.

With one simple php script, I can host it on a 256 meg VPS; point the dns to the IP address and done; cheap, fast, isolated and secure.

I am running a separate main "marketing" site and running another public ccTLD domain sales site, got those based covered.

Not interested in banner ads, they are cheap looking, or any more work or time; there are only so many hours in a day, this is a sideline for me.

Good to know, wasn't aware of it. Currently I am using the DNdork script, it is working fine for now, but development seems to have ceased. Definetly will consider the upgrade at some point in the future.

is the above possible with a bulky list?

I prefer plain HTML, static pages, without contact form. I leave my emailaddress @ mydomain. Interested people email me from their own email client.
It's not easy to setup. But you can completely forget it after the setup. Static pages don't need security updates. You only need to keep server OS + Apache updated as usual.

I setup one for my gwez.com just today using Wordpress. In the About page is where I put the "domain for sale" text.

You got adsense approved without content OMG

Yes, static is the purest and simplest way but I would rather not post my actual email address with all of the hostile inbound traffic of 1000+ domains focused to one point.

I show "whatever at mydomainforsale dot whatever", not my actual email. Each domain shows its own email address, ending with that domain. So each domain is independent from other domains I own. It's not easy to find connection between my domains. I look like I have only 1 domain for a prospective. It has advantages and disadvantages.

Then I redirect those emails to my actual email address. I reply back from "whatever at mydomainforsale dot whatever" when needed. I setup my email server properly. None of my emails that I sent have been lost so far.

I protect those emails from bots. The simplest method is to use cloudflare. Sometimes I show email addresses on an image especially if I don't want cloudflare for that particular domain. Sometimes I show like I wrote above, without @ sign. I haven't received spam so far for showing email address. I receive spam only from aged domains I buy if I redirect as catchall.

avoid anything free, they will all go out of business. Pay for quality services.

Java form script on html for simplest shortest code. Wordpress is huge.

One benefit of a script is that you can insert the domain in the page, such as below. Seeing ones desired domain in BIG LETTERS along with for sale is enough to get most people at least a little excited.

Java form script on html for simplest shortest code. Wordpress is huge.

Perhaps, if one knows how to code, but I would rather keep it on the server side though. WP is a huge overhead, that is what drove me away from it; too much machine traffic and too much overhead.

I think It's hard to find a solution that will perfectly fit your needs. Your requirements will also change from time to time.

One of my website [domainnames.cc] still using the script developed by Atta but I have to modify the code to fit my needs. Adding Google reCAPTCHA, changing the landing page layout, etc. I don't use the web interface admin panel because large number of domains and the default interface is not friendly for bulk edit, I update my listing by directly updating the SQL database with my own program.

I missed out for 2020, probably in 2021 though; by then there should be a php 8.X version and a good reason to upgrade.

Actually I am pretty happy with my setup atm; except for the fact that both platforms are now defunct ...

PHP 7.X EOL is less that a year now and security updates just under two which puts a hard timeline on both platforms.

Syncnames looks very useful, inegration with domainmod.org woulld be nice also.

Apart from the script itself.
We should also consider which control panel we are going to use and how we import the domains into control panel. I am sure you will not want to do it one by one manually. :xf.laugh:

Some of the paid control panel charge you per month depends on number of domains on your server and it can be very expensive.

So, If you plan to rent a VPS and self-host your own, you may want to use a free control panel. I suggested you to use virtualmin as your control panel. Virtualmin is one of the most powerful free to use control panel for web servers.

Virtualmin also have a powerful API which enabled you to do some bulk add jobs with it. I have developed my own software using the API. It allowed me to bulk add domains as alias (add-on domains), bulk adding txt records for all domains, etc. I search for such solution for years but I can't find any of them and therefore I develop my own software.

Hope this information can help the newcomers,
Kam

I installed virtualmin and removed. It doesn't allow some customizations and some works not automated. Ispconfig is more robust and usable than virtualmin and is fully compatible to debian.

I am using Virtualmin with Debian 10 and it's working well without any problems.
I used Ispconfig many years ago, I would say Ispconfig have a more friendly interface but when it come to functionality, Virtualmin won.

Have you tried wp multisite? Probably it is what you need.
