b/i/s/t/r/o/t (.) t/v
New french name :)

Fun fact (or not): The French use more bistrot, when the French Canadian use mainly bistro, without the final "t". Both are correct.

Yes I was, but the forum was less active than here and the .fr / french market is much smaller than the english one, so I stopped going there...

ForumNDD is back online by the way.

Nice thread!

Being half Swiss (French side) I had to own at least 1 French domain.

Given the horrible mess that's taking place in France right now I felt the need to register (dot.fr 1 euro promo):

AidonsNous and Aidons-Nous. Both mean let's help each other. I registered both because the correct spelling is Aidons-nous.

Which one do you think is better? Would you price them equally?

Welcome! Dashed domains are still going strong in France apprently. I prefer aidonsnous just because it is shorter.

Was thinking of a French Web Design firm when I picked up this:

Merci Lachinoiserie! I personally like Aidons-nous//fr better maybe because I have never seen that combination of words without the hyphen.

I just checked and both options are taken in .com so I guess it was a good move to secure both. Thanks again l'ami! :)

When you say it out loud
"AidonsNous point com" sounds much better than "Aidons tiret Nous point com"

in my opinion.

The name I own is taken in 20+ extensions as the two words are popular and understandable also for non French speakers.

The .com is developed and used outside France. The hyphenated .fr is developed.

I speak some French and I thought to ask as I think that the version with the article sounds good too. It will not be a better brand I think but since I got a few offers for my name I will maybe get also this as probably more easy to sell both names togheter.

One of the most visited websites in France is leboncoin.fr. This is at least an example that domains with article can have value.
A domain is less than $10 a year to register. You may invest in this domain with article for one year and see if you have good feedbacks.
The idea to sell the 2 domains as a package with the article + without article is a great idea

I'm very careful with foreign language domains - it's so easy to get the translations wrong. Even 'slightly off' can mean the difference between a decent domain and a worthless one. Which we all see when people who don't have English as a first language register English word-combo domains that really don't make sense to English speakers. Thousands of those get regged each day! So I know how easy it is to make the mistake of even one wrong letter, that might kill a domain's value.

My only French domains are:
Vitriers.com - 'glaziers', people who install and work with glass.
CabinePhoto.com - 'photo booth'.
Festivites.com - (without the accent on the E, of course) is 'festivities'.
Lucidite.com - again without the accent on the E, 'lucidity'.
Myologie.com - 'myology', a medical term.
Transexuelles.com - an adult term :)

Maybe I have made a mistake with a letter or a whole word above; who knows? But the translations seem to be accurate.

The only other French word domains I remember owning were Traverser.com ('to go across'), which I sold six or seven years ago, and Garnir.com ('garnish') which I sold a year or two ago. May have been more domains but I forget.

Sevoir//com

Hi, What does it mean? Is it supposed to be French? I only see Se Voir (two words for seeing each other).

Hello

I was told by a french mate that it means to see. I'll really appreciate more feedback on the name here.
Interesting fact https://se-voir.com/ is developed as a dating website :)

I like CabinePhoto and Festivités. I can see them used. The other ones are French, no doubt. But how does it make sense to develop them. The plural of vitrier kills it. It makes sense only for an union or association of glaziers.
Transexuelles, in French we would use transexuel or transexuels as a common name. Transexuelles is too specific, it means at least two transsexual females.
