Totally agree. While the investment value of the domain depends more on its own SEO value, I value its 'brand' value more in the registration process: having a clear meaning that applies to being a standalone brand. I've always been a firm believer that there's no way to know what a buyer is really looking for when they pay a high price for a name. Therefore, the transaction history is not a universal reference for all relevant names. IMO

like everything in life. u can only make it in domaining by investing tons of time.. effort... energy.. and money too.. years of experience if u put in 1h per week... or months of hard working u put in an hour or 2 per day

there is only one mistake most newbies make. that somehow domaining is quick easy money.

There's heaps involved with this question.

Speak with agencies and brokers that purchase names on behalf of companies.

Network, and email the agencies behind domains like Uber, Twitter, Coles, Myer, TikTok, Bing, Pixar, Naver, Gucci, Nokia, Kodak, Enron, Dior, Prada, Lotte,

You have heaps to learn.

Also, try searching domains like 1.com or a.com or 44.com. Most of them are overpriced and not in use.

You have a greater chance and turning a 6 figure profit in real-estate than flipping domains. Not many are sold above $15,000-$20,000 each year.

Domains, to me, are largely for developing. Resale is for moments when you see a domain like SuperFunds.com going for $2,000, and you think you can sell it for $5,000.

Be careful of valuation bots too. They're cool, but say HomeFinance.com is valued at 230k on EstiBot.com, whilst on MediaOptions.com it's $150k, and I spoke to a broker selling it who was happy with 100k, so I offered 35k.

yes, i agree with the above. i have made the same mistakes as a newbie that caused me to reg names that are of no value. i am starting to recover from all, gradually reading up and thinking of strategies that i must undertake to improve my effort(y)

"When using Namebio use filters for Venue. When you see Sedo, BuyDomains, NamePull those are mostly end user sales. A lot of the GoDaddy, NameJet, Catched, Park.io is wholesale, domain investors bidding and catching"

I also add Uniregistry, Daaz and Afternic to the list of potential end user sales platforms list - always worth doing additional research to verify this is the case though......

well said... and that's why valutate /appraise a domain name can't be done by an automated tool and neither can be done in a couple of minutes.
there are many many many factors to consider
