I have a question for the French domainers. Would you register a .fr domain starting with the article?

I own some .fr domains, one of my best is a two-word (adjective and noun), it is registered in 20+ extensions. I noted the version starting with the article (le) dropped. Would you register also this to "protect" the better name?

In English the domains starting with an article (ex. the) are much less valutabile so there is no point. How are considered this kind of names in .fr? Much less valuable or only a little less valuable? The name starting with "Le" is registered only in a few extensions and has not been registered at the drop so my guess is that I don't need to get also this but I thought better ask...

In French I find that La vache bleue sounds better than Vache bleue. But it is personal.

the problem with .fr if you want to protect your own brand/trademark you would have to get:

VacheBleue.fr
Vache-bleue.fr
LaVacheBleue.fr
VacheBleue.com

then you are ok in my opinion.

If your are just reselling, it should not matter that much.

but a serious business using a .fr should own the .com as well to avoid cybersquatting.

The name I own is taken in 20+ extensions as the two words are popular and understandable also for non French speakers.

The .com is developed and used outside France. The hyphenated .fr is developed.

I speak some French and I thought to ask as I think that the version with the article sounds good too. It will not be a better brand I think but since I got a few offers for my name I will maybe get also this as probably more easy to sell both names togheter.

I guess it depends on the domain itself. For expl lechalet.com is as good if not better as chalet.com.

Hello @HDmarketing

Nice list! I do agree with @Dotorium.

For me the one is MusiqueClassique 🎶

I think we discussed it a few years ago on another forum but I cannot remember. Were you on ForumNDD?

By the way who here was on the French domaining forum, ForumNDD?

Yes I was, but the forum was less active than here and the .fr / french market is much smaller than the english one, so I stopped going there...

distanciels //.com

One word, hard to explain in English, but it is the French for the mode of doing something remotly. For example online courses are "distanciels". The opposite is "presentiels".. in person. The COVID situation adds value.
