Hi all to my fellow domainers.

I am thinking of registering few geo domains but would appreciate if you can share; based on your experience, few domain niches (Top 5 or Top 10) for newbies to invest in.

Kindly share why these niches are hot and how fast you were able to sell domains in those niches. If you can share the prices you sold the domains for, that would be awesome, otherwise, no problem.

I look forward to some valuable input on this.

Stay safe y'all.

Limousine and plumbers; are they still easy to sell?

Yeah.

What I'll advise you to do before buying a Geo + Service is

1- check the population of the geographical location, 100k upwards is more preferable.

2 - Search the keywords on Google, e.g you have 'Seattle Limousine' paste it on Google and search,
Yellow pages and google maps will bring up results, if you get like 10 businesses upwards offering the same service, go ahead, purchase the domain and pitch to them.

I hope this helps.

Outbound is not for newbies, I learnt that the hard way. Read all outbound-related content on the forum, and start with only a limited number of GEO domains. You can use expireddomains.net, just add a couple of huge city names to the "starts with" field (e.g. Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix, Houston, etc.), so you can see which domains are registered by the domainers (so you'll know which niches are interesting).

And Please can you share what you've learnt the hard way.

That it's not for me :) I registered subpar domains and then didn't make the necessary effort to send emails to prospects. Doing outbound is more and more seen as spamming, and the ROI is not that good anyway for me to bother with it.

But why do you think outbound isn't for newbies? What exactly do they do wrong or miss?

Newbies usually start with registering lots of crappy names, then spam every business owner in the world with emails, then - as they can't sell any domain - just give up doing outbound. I know because I took these very steps a couple of years ago, and I wasn't even a newbie back then :) Fortunately I realized this is not for me, so I could stop it and focus on the niches I'm more familiar with (brandable and .co domains).

Fair enough. A real life or online mentor, somebody to consult in the early months, solves that problem though.

Yes, a mentor can change everything, at least they can make the learning curve less steep.

That's what I was thinking.

Does anyone really still try to register "XCityDentist" or "XCityPlumber"?

I have a number of exact-match .com's that are capital cities or countries -- and sometimes I don't immediately get any offers. I can only imagine how much worse it would be if I added an extra word or two.

I think the action is in getting the top-tier .com, or sometimes the highly relevant ccTLD, but with nothing more than the city name itself.

Don't buy hundreds of the third-tier domains. Save all that money and buy yourself ONE decent domain name.
