Maybe domainace can comment what the situation is like in Japan, I remember Japanese not buying into this open border policies.

They don't, but foreigners still come, and eventually in large numbers I think. Western nations, including Japan, have bankrupted themselves - pension plans they can't pay off, all kinds of social benefits and "free stuff" that they can't pay for unless the tax base keeps growing. Government ponzi schemes. So the "solution" is more taxpayers via immigration. Not a great solution if your immigrants are all on welfare though, further draining the system. Even worse if they are bringing crime and chaos.

Japan has been pressured to bring in more refugees from the Mid-East, but I don't see what they should. The countries that have been involved (UK, US, France) made a mess of it, not Japan. And, unless one has an affinity for the culture here, there are many better places to be in the world.

So, lots of Chinese and loads of Vietnamese lately. I would be fine of Japan had an open border policy with Vietnam - they are great people, work hard. smart and easy to get along with. The only problem is the government in Japan is run by a bunch of old crooks who like the old ways. They keep cronies and zombie companies alive while crushing innovative young companies. There really are some brilliant people here, but they are not appreciated.

It happened and is still happening...targeted to silence opposition and promote non-inclusivity and/or assimilation?

The ARPM declined in the late '70s, due in large part to the FBI's suppression and infiltration through its then secret operation COINTELPRO, which sought to "neutralize" any activist organization with strong dissenting views against the federal government. Within three years of the Wounded Knee II siege, 69 members and supporters of AIM died violently on the reservation.

But, but... I am always told by the anti-Trumpers here that the FBI and CIA are heroes and patriots. This can't be true. The FBI and CIA love and protect us...;.

Not much shocks me, but this does if it holds up.

I own SpitefulMutant.com and SpitefulMutants.com...

If anyone want to do a collective, wp site with admin/ editor privileges.. We can build together and expose such Spiteful Mutants like Tony Blair and others.

I think focus is best kept to those whom are elected and betray the trust of the electorate. In biological terms, those who undermine group fitness.

That's a noble idea and worthy cause IMO (y)...though would likely attract establishment hackers :zippermouth:

Intelligence is not the same as critical thinking - and the difference matters.

How are freedom of speech laws and in practice currently in UK? If I was going to get into publishing I would be very tempted to operate under a corporation from US. Probably the best protection one can still get is the First Amendment.

For someone who is so adamant against the Trudeau Liberals (not that I am a party member), remember it was Trudeau who introduced the Constitution & Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms:

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects a number of rights and freedoms, including freedom of expression and the right to equality. It forms part of our Constitution – the highest law in all of Canada – and is one of our country’s greatest accomplishments.

You may not remember the pre-Charter days...and much still needs to be done to make Canada a more just and inclusive society - be it in access to justice, gender equity, or aboriginal justice. But many still speak of the Charter as the icon of our Canadian political identity.

Was going to give you a guys a day off but.......

Florida going Blue. How do I know? Normally, have 70-80 trick or treaters, had...............3 this year. And no shutdowns or anything like that. So it was up to the parents to decide.

That tells me people are very concerned about the virus. So Trump is screwed.

The New York University Law Review, concluded that Canada had supplanted the U.S. as the leading exporter and exemplar of a global rights protection model, stating that, "all things being equal, the more democratic a country, the more its constitution will resemble that of Canada."

@sonatime - be glad that you live in Canada, but don't take those freedoms too liberally, lol :xf.wink:

Intelligence vs Critical Thinking

“Smart” people do “dumb” things :xf.wink:

Critical thinking is not intelligence. Critical thinking is an awareness. It is a collection of cognitive skills that allows one to think rationally and to use those skills appropriately. Generally critical thinkers are more flexible - they require evidence to support their beliefs and recognize the false attempts to persuade them. Critical thinking today means being skeptical of biases ie. the media.
