Someone keeps listing my domains on Afternic

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but it's been happening quite a bit over the past 2 months.

For some of the domains I have, I transfer them over to another registrar when it's time to renew so I can keep a better eye on them. They have already been listed on Afternic, so I have to delete them since I don't want to deal with potential consequences of not being able to transfer if a sale did randomly come through during that period. I wait the 60-days after the transfer happens and get ready to upload them to Afternic and Sedo once again.

To my surprise, someone has already listed them with supremely high $10k min offers. I don't know who is doing it, but what I do know is that I'm getting tired of emailing Afternic every week to remove those domains when a TXT verification system can be implemented or something along those lines.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Why are you deleting the domains from Afternic?

Just remove any BIN off and only take offers - if you get a good offer just advise Afternic to tell the potential buyer that you will not be able to transfer immediately.

Mostly just erring on the side of caution in the case that I forget to remove a BIN and lose a sale because I can't transfer immediately, but it looks like I'm gonna have to start keeping them on when I transfer since this has been recurring for months now.

Dear KTC/KFC,

This is Frank. I sincerely apologize for listing your domains at Afternic. I shouldn't have done so. Mine were not as good as yours! As simple as that.

Now that we have resolved this little problem that was making us enemies, can I please list your domains here at Namepros? Never again on Afternic - promise!

Yours,

Frank

Something definitely needs to change. I like how Sedo and Dan has it set-up, so that if you need to verify that you are the owner, you can do it on your own instead of waiting days for it to get done.

While I agree this does happen where people haven't updated their listings, that isn't the particular case I'm mentioning.

I am transferring the domain to another registrar and waiting 60 days before I put them back on. Someone is adding them and at extremely high min offers.

At the very least the fraudsters showing very high openers are engaging in front running. If someone makes them an offer they will try to get it from you for way less on DAN Sedo etc.
At the worst end, they are hoping you click the fast transfer button and they sell your domain!

It’s ridiculous that the multi million monopoly of GD doesn’t have state of the art infrastructure and the poorest quality glitchy 1990 website of everyone else.

It’s downright embarrassing that this can happen at all. People should have to prove once a year that they still own it. Email people to keep their listings up to date etc. They do the absolute minimum to combat fraud except hold your funds forever.

The key issue here according to the reports by NP members appears to be that many marketplaces are not checking ownership verification when domains are listed. I personally have not experienced this with either Sedo or Afternic as they always ask me for proof of ownership (or at least check my public whois to ensure it is me). The domains I have on Godaddy were registered or renewed with them under my account name so it is obviously me who is listing them.

I don't think it's up to us to have to prove we own it once per year. It's up to the marketplaces to notice if the WHOIS information has been changed or updated since we listed the domains and provided proof of ownership when we initially listed.

Same here, many of my domains are listed for sale with a low BIN by a member named frankbdschilling recently, and this makes me so tired asking Afternic to remove them...
How could a member add my domains into his Afternic account successfully without my permission? And he keeps adding them again and again.

I'm intrigued to know exactly what is going on with your domains apparently being listed by that username.

I've done a bit of research for you on that username that I have previously posted.

Any updates?

try to dan
they have automated verification to override old owner

you must list the domain on afternic again and change nameserver to afternic
maybe this is for verification for valid owner

Calm down people, nothing fishy going on here. Here is why:

The user that keeps adding your name to his account is most likely a "superuser". Most of the high-roller domainers have "super user" status at Afnic, they upload huge lists on thousands of names at once and no Afnic employee will verify these just because the super users are "trusted" partners.

So basically you list your name, next week the super user uploads his list, your name is in there because he used to own it a while back and forgot to remove it from the list, the name gets deleted from your account and added to the superuser. You email Afnic, the employee deletes the name from the superuser account so you can add it back to your account, next week the super user uploads his list again and the name gets deleted again from your account and so on...

LOL this happened to me too! I woke up one morning and saw that my site, OneWord.Domains was listed on Afternic (GoDaddy Auctions) for like $500 😂

Even ranted on Twitter about it, and apparently this happens all the time 👀

Thanks for bringing this up. It seems there is some confusion around this so Uniregistry is going to send another email out about it. Uniregistry joined Afternic's sales network recently. This means that if you have domains listed on the Uniregistry Market they will be syndicated to Afternic automatically. So what is likely happening in most cases is it is your account at Uniregistry listing those domains on Afternic and since they are listed already it is stopping you from listing your own domains, because you did list them, via Uni.

If you did and don't want them listed via Uni you can delete the listings on the Uni Market and re-list via Afternic. Or you could just adjust the floor offer price on Uni to less than 10k.

Uniregistry did announce this change but it seems like customers weren't aware of the implications or didn't read the announcement so they plan on re-announcing it in the near future.

Nothing to do with Uni. Sorry that answer only applies to select few. This problem has been going on for years because you don’t ban fraudsters from the platform.

What is being asked here is absolutely related to Uniregistry. The frankbdschilling account is anything coming from Uniregistry and has nothing to do with Frank himself. The 10k minimum price is also a Uniregistry floor price they put on domains without a minimum offer. There is also the timing etc. It is possible to have domains listed in another place or another account (not your own) and have it block your domain from being listed but that is not what is being described here in the thread.

This explains everything. So, the person that was listing my domains was.....me all along without even knowing it. I had no idea. So, all I really just need to do is remove the names from Uni, put them on Afternic to track them on my own, and put it back on Uni after I'm done.

I appreciate you taking the time to answering this. I was losing my mind trying to figure out what was causing this for months.

Alright, after playing around with the minimum offer, I can confirm that this was the case that my Uni listings are the ones that were blocking me from listing in the first place with a super high minimum offer.
