I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
And dammit, I can soooo close to winning Waterway.ca (I tried to pull a Flagstone) - the times are an absolute dead heat and now I have to fight with RLM over it. Oh joy!

Were you happy with the auction results this time? I didn't win a single thing! It was truly a shitty week.

So what happened to RLM, did he fall down a well or something?

I just won 3 auctions at Siber (which I was sure he sniped me on) and no action at all... I was just waiting for the rug to get taken out from under me, and nada.... :wideyed::wideyed:

Yes, those domains looked like they should be good at first glance, but once I took a second look at those names this morning, I just couldn't get excited enough to bid. Did you get any at myid too?

Nope, just Siber and you are right they aren't premiums, but I had a price in mind for both and went under, so I'm happy. Plus I love aged domains that have not hit the TBR in decades, compared to "newer registrations of aged domains" (i.e. a 2018 last-reg of a 2000-era domain), and have much better luck with the old codgers.

Did you end up getting that Cher first name, as I left that alone cuz it was already outside of my pre-auction price range? Had it on my radar though.

P.S. From the "Files of the Matrix", I have a feeling that PG is gonna sell - the other one, no idea, but I liked it.

Nope. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero.
I was very apathetic on this week's domains, at min bids I was willing, but once they got bid up a bit, I just channeled my inner Elsa.

I did that a few weeks ago, in that TBR where the prices were way out of control, so I chose the better part of valor and just slinked away.

Next week... next week..

I just signed into my Rebel.com account, I had to look twice, I thought I was in my godaddy account... were they or are they under the godaddy umbrella?

I think godaddy recently changed their site a bit as well but Rebel really changed theirs, at least my opinion?

It's a nice clean look, cleaner than godaddy in my opinion.

Looks better in my opinion than what it looked like before.

If you look up a registered name on Namespro, it says “invalid”.

So Vansky.ca recently sold for $2.5K, so how about this little gem from the TBR?

Vensky.ca

P.S. The "Top Secret" name with the convoluted back-story that I bought this week (again it's more interesting than good) was TANDA, which is a Latin term for a credit association and seems to have been picked up by the banking and finance sectors.

A tanda is a rotating savings and credit association (ROSCA) for a group of people who know one another.

Quite honestly I would have dropped it too so don't feel bad.

I mean.... even if I owned porn.ca I still would not pay for p0rn.ca because it's just not needed.

I only own one adult domain and it's 4sex(dot)ca and I'm not hot on having any adult domains in my portfolio.
Same here, absurdly enough... :)

Damn, I hate these almost-domains that seem good but aren't. I almost pre-ordered this "spicy" name before the misspell caught my eye:

tumeric.ca

It is a good typo though as many people don’t know there is an “r” in there or pronounce it that way(with the “r” in it)

Not as good as "Racoon", and I think anyone willing to spend any real money on it would know.

If you’re into US States, I guess this is your week. They are not necessary my cup of tea but I do own 2 or 3.

In one TBR years ago, "enviroment.ca" went like in the 10% of the list :D I don't remember if there was an auction for it too, but the buyer probably paid a lot for it to go that high.

SAV.com Launches New Drop Catching Service With No Backorder Fees
https://www.dnjournal.com/archive/lowdown/2020/dailyposts/20201026.htm

Hmm, no backorder fees and anyone can participate in the auction

Wow what a novel idea, wish we had that for.... lets say... TBR

The part I found interesting is that when they have more than one bidder it goes to marketplace and anyone can bid regardless of if you backordered the domain or not.

I know @DomainRecap will always argue about this but I can't change how I feel.
Sometimes I would rather bid and let the dollars do the work than all the time and effort of the chase.

After all, you can make more money but time is finite for everyone.

So basically it's an auction house for expired domains they manage to catch? This is NOT a drop-catching service, and it's pretty easy to see through the BS.

You might as well call a spade a spade and this is a S-C-A-M designed to make money off the backs of domainers and translating their hard work and effort into auction profit for SAV.com, all while posing in the guise of a "no-fees dropcatcher". :xf.cool:

BTW, I don't see them lasting very long as domainers won't want to take part in this crap - they do all the work, spending hours researching, ferreting out all the best drops and potential deals, and then SAV.com proceeds to auction it off to the world and reap all the profits from your hard work...

Yeah, that sounds like something virtually no one would want to take part in.
