I need suggestion on Domain name - HostPlax.com

Hello Friends,

I need your suggestion.

I am thinking to change domain name of hostplax.com to some premium name in order increase brand potential.

What do you suggest on this?

I have two domains in mind.

1) HostMxxxx.com (x is hidden charactor. Can't disclose name now)

2) HostMines.com (I already own this)

Or do you think HostPlax.com is attractive and no changes needed?

I am confused because the suffix "Plax" is not popular and has no meaning.

I choosed this domain HostPlax. com because I am able to get multiple domains with this suffix.

I have also a few more domain names registered as below

1) HostPlax.com (Web Hosting)

2) VideoPlax.com (video creation website)

3) DigiPlax.com (Digital marketing and seo website)

4) CloudPlax.com (Domain name only)

5) PlaxCorporation.com (only domain)

I started with HostPlax.com and other are just registered domain or simple website for future plan.

Guys please provide your honest openion on this.

By having the word "host" or "hosting" in the domain, one can surmise your business offers hosting services. The domain is .com and only eight characters so it is an OK domain name. However, how many companies offer hosting services? Why should they choose yours? Because it is more secure, more reliable, provides more bandwidth, lower cost, better customer service, etc? Perhaps a second word to include in your brand would indicate what distinguishes you from the others. PLAX does not inspire me to consider your business over any other company offering the same service.

Yes or no heavily depends on what those hidden characters are, meaning HostM.... may be a great name, so why would anyone tell you not to rebrand? & vice versa.

Forget the plural, & plax isn't great.

brand growth and recognition, starts with promotion and consumption/usage

reviews and previews, are bait for others to bite

so, use what you got and just put more into it.

You choosed this domain HostPlax. com because you are able to get multiple domains with this suffix.
In that case the decision is more than good if Your brand name is Plax but I do not see any logic in your case if your brand is not Plax. If not stay with brand Hostplax if You already have a lot of customers under that name and go to hostplax.digital, hostplax.cloud etc. Or change the brand name to something similar like Hostflex or something like that.

In this case, your first instinct is correct, if you're bent on using "plax" in the name. No idea what plax is really.. but what the hey, make it yours. HostPlax combines nicely.

Plax could work well for you depending on how you develop it.

The most common use I found for Plax is a mouthwash or plaque rinse.

According to the Johnson & Johnson trademark filing, Plax is short for Plaque as a pseudo mark.

I'm not an expert on this but my take is as long as you don't try to infringe on their dental plaque remover brand you should be okay.

Plax itself is a fairly popular term and is registered in 52 extensions with 8 extensions for sale according to dofo.

Looking at the definition of Plaque we see the following:

1. an ornamental tablet, typically of metal, porcelain, or wood, that is fixed to a wall or other surface in commemoration of a person or event.

2. a sticky deposit on teeth in which bacteria proliferate.

So if you only focus on the first definition and use the term Plaque/Plax to convey to your customers their purchase of your hosting is a commemoration of achievement it becomes a clear win-win.

I was attempting to follow your lead and not completely give away my top two guesses of the domain you are thinking of switching to.

The xxxx is the hidden characters and I replaced the x's with the letters that make up my guesses.
