So a domain broker told me:

Listing is a name that is searchable among a group of names and brokerage is a lead on a specific name that was typed in.

A listing can be sold without human interaction and brokerage requires human interaction.

But the broker also said he does not do outbounding.

I am now confused.

Please help me understand how does he market the domain if he does not do outbounding.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
If he doesn't do any outbound he is waiting for inbound offers

brokerage is built on human interaction;

they are already at a disadvantage since;

they dont 100% right to offering less bestowed upon by owner. That’s why the best brokers in business often “exclusively” which gives them an edge; selling; but u have be good enough to demand, and granted it. These million doll Dn
Some people dont like five figure figure offers maybe they strive 6 ; and in case hire broker with “proven results” in the past in reported sal they always get credited; but some (many) nda

It’s tougher business than domaining; IMO
i think have to Domainer firsf, before decide take path of “broker” I personally dont like idea of someone not owning my names selling for me; and getting cut for it; but they earned it if closed lead — and even more so; better sell name own 100% own; all names offer sale

Good brokerages My Platinum list best of best.

Site has Two types of Listings.

1. Marketplace Listings
2. Domain Brokerage with high percentage

With my knowledge, inbound marketing is listing in Marketplace and waiting for potential buyers to come. Right?

Outbound marketing is marketing domains to potential buyers - This is what domain brokerage means right?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Noted mate.

But what do you think that broker meant when he said he does not do outbounding yet charges 20% compared to 9% marketplace listing? Still trying to understand how will he market if he does not outbound.

it’s called “upcost”

No ifea what he meants

what organization is the broker
(not asking you to dox) if he’a “known” im more inclined believe upfront cover for upfront cost.

i dont tend to believe most brokers; sorry

trust reputation and go with your gut.
i’ll give any of the afermentioned above 20% l
in lieu of “9% if they can, in fact, close deal

Hi

If:

the broker is/or has a brand, has a following, clients, referrals and referrers, and has established themselves as such... even if you don't know it.
then
they may not need to do outbounding, as stated.

sometimes, buyers come and just ask out the blue... "Hey Biggie.... Whatcha got good for sale"?

or, they might ask, if i know where they can get it.

so, i can vision a real broker saying that.

just saying....

imo....

It's NameLot.

This is inbound right?

They charge 9% marketplace listing and 20% domain brokerage. But brokers don't do outbounding. Then how do they market the domains lol? If the buyers comes out of blue, then its inbounding, then for what am I paying 20% for?

Hi

If, they are who you are referring to as the broker, in question, specifically

then...
they, imo..wouldn't fit within the premise of the logic, given initially.

imo...

Not really, inbound is when a buyer contact you directly using a landing page (if it's listed on a marketplace). What a broker do is using his contacts and connections, think of it (which is not always the case) like a buyer who has done many deals before with the broker, just contacted the broker again asking if they have any names related to a niche, then the broker will just reply with his clients domains that are best fit for that niche.

Got a reply from the domain broker when I asked him what exactly is the benefit of using Domain Brokerage vs marketplace listing:

He said:

The interested person types your name in and sees out for sale page. They can inquire there and we take that lead and sell for as much as we can. Most buyers try to talk about price to get the best deal possible. We create value around the name and sell value not price.

The experienced broker gets your name sold for a higher price than a non experienced person.

Is this the same thing Afternic or Sedo does? Is it worth using NameLot's domain brokerage service?

The thing that this broker does is the same what Afternic agents does right? So is worth paying 20% and not get any outbound service?

I think there's two ways of interpreting the term brokerage.

Mine (and from what I can gather, yours too) is that a broker should be actively trying to sell your name through autbound using their contacts list, researching and following up on potential leads. Brokers will only do this for A+++ names.

The other type of "brokerage" (which it sounds like you're experiencing) is when you use their landing page and if an inbound lead comes through they will do the haggling and negotiations on your behalf. This can be good for any grade of name as they might have better negotiation skills, a higher level of trust with their customers and an already established customer base (which is essentially what you're paying for when you use a landing page from Afternic, Sedo etc). This might mean they may get a higher sales price than you could get on your own. This is more of a middle man.

Is the second one worth a 20 percent cut? That's upto you.

They are Namesilo's NameLot so I guess they are experienced.
