With any commercialized software such as Alexa, SEMRush, etc., you have to take it with a grain of salt with each and every site that you examine. There's no guarantee that the results you'll see will actually match the traffic you are looking for. They could pick up bots, fake traffic hit sites, etc., so it's going to be a gamble when you expect 10k, but actually get 10. Just need to determine if it's worth it.

That being said, my personal favorite is SimilarWeb's traffic estimator. They do tend to get it wrong like the others, but is probably the most accurate at least when it comes to desktop traffic from my personal experiences. Gets a bit iffy when Desktop and Mobile are combined. I think in one of my old posts when someone wanted to examine a website for backlinks and traffic, I went into more depth.

Good luck.

Yeah, most likely, it may have been fake traffic if it was still shooting that high up. Only way to really dig into it is checking if it was receiving referral traffic from backlinks(and estimating the referring websites traffic), if it had SEO value(you would see a pretty steep drop if it had some traffic from search engines), social traffic, and sometimes even digging to see if it was getting any dark traffic(stuff like Whatsapp and that sort).

Sign-up on SimilarWeb's free trial thing. It may give you a better insight on some sites. If it's still a good name, just got to hope someone will knock to sell.

It's more complicated sometimes You loosing most of keyword juice SEO when just register domain and change DNS. If it stop appears in a search engine it also losing traffic. Sometimes it's bot traffic and sometimes it's semrush inaccurate math or old data. But all those sites (at least I did not found any working good and I have a lot of domain traffic) use inaccurate details so I would not look so bad on traffic here.

There is only one way:

1. Buy the domain
2. Put it onto your hosting
3. Plug in an analytics

How the hell any 3rd party tool can know what traffic will be there on any domain, if that domain is currently even not live and even not registered? They only calculate statistical probabilities and prognoses. What do you want from them?

if you open godaddy auction he have some domains have traffics with revenue monthly
i try to check this names in semrush but it give me 0 traffic so i was think the data of godaddy is fake? for traffic and revenue

Bro, can you even read?

You can not know it.

Registrars like Godaddy or Dynadot show you some traffic numbers which they get from their parking, but in 99% cases those are some useless crazy bots.

SEO tools, like Semrush and others, give you their estimations calculated based on backlinks etc.

Think about it: everyone wants to find domains with real traffic. If we had access to the true numbers, there would be a constant total war over such domains. But we don't have these numbers, so we can only guess.

Like said golan You never know for sure what is real traffic. Godaddy shows stats from parking only so it needs to be parked in GD and then it appears but it also can be fake bot traffic. No one will share a method for traffic domains it's bread for a lot of people no one likes competition. You already have a lot of info about what You should avoid all rest you need experience and own knowledge and own "lost" budget on domains.

I never trust Traffic stats as they are always 1) old and out of date and 2) full of fake crap like bots and pingbacks.

You can go out of business paying too much for that garbage. Just buy good and saleable domains at the lowest price possible.

During the Gold Rush, it was those that sold tools that made the big money.
One can apply that mentality today and see the similarities.

There is only one 'tool' that can make you money and that's 'common sense'.
No-one will make a tool that knows the traffic of another website and sell it to you for low $xxx a month instead of keeping it themselves and make ten times that money in a day. It's just common sense.

Sometimes there is a bit of confusion when it comes to traffic a domain had "historically"

1. Getting a dropped name (that had traffic) is different than buying a domain that has an active website (live is is still getting the same traffic).

- What is missed is that a domain/site getting good traffic is visited (crawled, etc) more often by G. When G sees the links broken, gone, 404ed, etc.., the site is deindexed. This can happen quick or it could takes months - depends when G hits it and sees content missing.

Once that happens all non-organic traffic is gone & you are starting from scratch.

If you want to keep that link juice on a dropped name - you have to put up a site and make sure all those links are accounted for on the "new" site. - If you want to see how the SEOs do it, look into how to create your own PBN network (not for you to recreate, they clearly explain how to keep the sites link juice).

GL

P.S. feel free to use any of the free tools (APIs pull from MOZ, G, SimilarWeb, & several more). It's not more accurate than theirs (it's their data obviously, haha) but you will see info (or be able to run) on the name from several sources - maybe it helps? But it free, so you cant lose. it's AiSerp and links in my signature.
