discuss $1 .Realty Domain Sale - Marketing ideas

Without going into too much detail I just picked up 55 .realty domains, and I'm seeking other NP members input for speed marketing these domains since their renewal is $299 in a year.

Suffice it to say, many of my domains are one word like Dolphin.realty, and two word domains like MoveUp.realty. There are hundreds of thousand of real estate agents in the US, and thousands of new ones getting their real estate license each month.

While I plan to work with Epik in some capacity via landing pages etc., my main plan is to "outbound market" .realty domains and develop a custom website specifically targeting agents, brokers and new agents.

I haven't nailed down the pricing yet, but the domains need to be less than a thousand dollars with options to finance 12-24 months.

I was a little reluctant to share this, but I thought what the heck? Two heads are always better than one and 3, 4, 5, 6 etc. are far better than two.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas? Thanks

Each domainer has a different situation.

I have purchased the domains because I knew there's value in them, if not in all at least in a good portion. There was basically no risk as I knew I could flip them for profit to another domainer. Which I am already doing, had some negotiations so far and awaiting buyer decision.

Lately I have been looking at improving my process and margins as I'm currently at 4k domains, mostly .coms. The main constraint is time; and with the growth of my .com base this goes mostly in that direction. I also have a separate retail business, a startup in testing and other stuff. The .realty domains require either site building, traffic generation or outbound, neither of which is comfortable due to the same time constraints.

As for direction, I will probably focus on the higher tier .coms with purchases and 4-5 fig sales in the future.

I've been building a plan related to this type of niche for a very long time and I think I'm very close to having all the pieces in place.

My plan begins with building a team focused on creating a win-win for everyone.

The plan includes:

Domain selection (the product) with a strong USP or Unique Selling Proposition that includes an in demand added bonus
Lead Generation/Referrals
Outbound sales
Negotiations
Closing
Fulfilment
Follow up

We've got lots of people here on NP who have already picked up great Realty domains including both of us. And I've already picked up and developed the in demand added bonuses, so things are well on the way to being ready to go.

Yes, there's lots more work to be done, but I'm very happy with the current progress that's been made.

I am thinking this is a short term smash and grab and have now settled at 50+ names most of which are product relevant or bragging rights type of names.

Produced a quick very basic site, in my signature Tweet .Realty.

Outbound to as close to keyword as possible to specific realty professionals individuals and companies and adding site Tweet .Realty details with .realty info and "other" names.
First efforts under way with a small amount of responsive interest but no sales in the offing-yet!

Only needs one sale but time and effort count, but long retired so not too important, in fact an interesting relatively inexpensive exercise.

Thanks for sharing your plans and your portfolio. I'd really like to carve out a niche combining real estate, home builders and finance that includes both new gTLD's and .com's for the long term. Good Luck

I have a few .realty domains and I am all for a punt (as long as the costs are low) but this thread does seem to be turning into a self justification/hype train as @Joe Nichols alluded to......

Hopefully we see some reported sales in the near future to justify it.......or some constructive feedback on the outbound processes that people have tried

And no, I have not done any outbound on mine yet

realty after seeing that Dan has HypeRealty.com for sale $3,799. I passed just to show the sort of constraint I have. However I did just buy Goldilocks.realty and ThreeBears.realty because they're so damn cute

Nick...not sure what you're planning for outbound, but to give you an example I'm planning a variety of strategies. I just registered Bleacher.realty and it' compliment BleacherRealty.com. Searching Google I happen to locate an Ashley Bleacher who is a Century 21 Advisor. She's successful enough that she actually has a "team" of realtors surrounding her and it's called the "Ashley Bleacher Team". Of all people that should own "Bleacher Realty", who do you suppose that would be? It's unlikely she'd be searching for that name, but it's very likely she would take a call from someone who says they'd like to speak with her about BleacherRealty

What do you think? Hype, or common sense?

I think the common sense thing to do would be to put yourself in her shoes. Would you happily take calls from strangers who registered "Rich Morris" in a variety of different domain extensions with the intention of making money off you?

How about I register RichMorrisDomains and you can give me a few hundred bucks for it?

Any of these hyped up new extensions could be a decent investment if you find the right pairing words, but you've gone off the deep end with some of your choices, particularly this one. The more .realty names you buy, the more you're killing your bottom line if you ever manage to make a sale or two.

Personally, I'd rather have the hyphenated .com name. I'd be worried about scaring off clients with a new, unrecognized extension.

Care to talk about .realtor Joe, and how realtors and agents all over are familiar with the term and the extension? I just did a little research and 20% of all Real Estate Brokers have "realty" in their names so you know they're familiar with it.

You really think "potential customers" have a clue about the difference between .realty vs. .realtor

Like I said, 20% of brokers names have "realty" in the name. Most ALL of the .realty domains I own have a corresponding .com that's either in use, or is for sale for many thousands of dollars. For instance, I just hand registered MyWay.realty and MyWayRealty.com has been registered continually since 2003, and GD values it at $2,070 and they're asking $4,825 for it. Ever here of the song "My Way" Joe? How about Frank Sinatra?

Joe, i see where you're asking $999 for Nichols.realty. How much do you think I should ask for MyWay.realty?

Interesting choice to buy a new gTLD name based on the asking price of its matching .com name. That kind of thinking generally leads domainers astray (and into debt). Better to focus on acquiring ngTLD names that have lots of other existing sites using the same or very similar names. It's all about odds.

I can't provide any credible advice on pricing, I'm afraid. I've avoided all of the new extensions thus far, and I would stick to single word names if I were to buy one.

That being said, I think most of these .realty names should be priced in the low hundreds. That makes them a fairly cheap proposition for your potential buyers (who will have never heard of .realty), and gives you a chance to recoup your investment and maybe make a little money from a few sales.
