The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You just have to read through this thread, and when you go to the 7th post, you will see this:

And even more interesting, if you have the time, to type "nosql" on our precious Google, and see what it appears there.

For the ones still not doing a minimum search of this term on Google, just say that it is the "type" of database used by Twitter, Amazon, Facebook, Instagram and other similar heavy traffic sites.

What is NoSQL?

"NoSQL databases (aka "not only SQL") are non tabular, and store data differently than relational tables. NoSQL databases come in a variety of types based on their data model. The main types are document, key-value, wide-column, and graph. They provide flexible schemas and scale easily with large amounts of data and high user loads."

Okay, I got your point.
But the thing is many terms found in the real life world may have a technical definition. But that doesn't mean that they should have any business value.

NoSQL database is really interesting and can be sold easily on 6/7 figures, mongodb, cassandra, scylla and others won't let this name for sales a'd will get it asap. (Nosql databases are used massivally by financial companies to manage quickly big datas, some folks here do not have an idea on how much this domain worth)

For the other one it is not really interesting, perhaps you thought it was MySQL?

Structured Query Language (SQL) - pronounced Sequel - has been around for decades.

Many highly-paid programmers and database developers have careers utilising SQL and Non-SQL (non relational) skills.

Linkedin currently has over 25,000 NoSQL jobs, and over 125,000 SQL jobs advertised in the USA.
