Hi all,

I've been working the past few months on a free available domain database.
It's currently tracking just over half a million domains per TLD, you can search by keyword and click on a domain to view similar domains and synonyms.
No registration required to use it: domaineim.com

My next steps are to add more TLDs and synonyms, but I'm looking for feedback, e.g. which TLDs I should add next, other filtering options and anything else you can think of.

Thanks!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I checked it out and it's real nice, when does it update the names though? was about to register punny.com but when I visited it's already taken.

Also curious, what kind of hosting do you use for that site and which language you used?
Is the processing heavy on the hosting?

Hey Yawz, thanks for checking it out.

It generally takes about 4-5 days to process all the domains (currently around 3 million), however sometimes the domain registrar APIs return false positives. I'm working on adding more registrars so I can cross-check availability and improve accuracy.

The site is built with Elixir/Phoenix and hosted on DigitalOcean servers. Elixir is pretty efficient so processing has been fine so far. It has taken quite a bit of time to build and optimize though :)

Hi, your tool works well,
However, it is not very accurate. Many domain names shown are already registered

Is your profit model through Affilite?

I have some suggestions,
Can improve the accuracy of domain information
Add more domain registrars, set up Affilite
Add advertising space and sell :xf.smile:

Hey leland, thanks for the feedback.

You're right, my next priority is improving the accuracy, I guess you could say this is a 'beta' release of the tool.

Currently I'm monetizing it through affiliate links, however that's just to help pay for server costs.
I have some ideas for paid features which I'll add in the future (and also more free features).

I'm thinking of adding more domain registrars and allowing signed up users to select which two they'd like to see next to the domains.

It doesn't work. These domains are not available in fact. You just want to get affiliate commission when I click on a promising domain name.

Hi @Charybdis,

Sorry to hear you feel that way, that's not my intention.

The Godaddy API I'm using returns a lot of false positives.
To fix it I'd need to find more APIs from other registrars and cross-check each domain but I have a few other commitments at the moment and not much time to work on this project.

I may have to take the service down soon since it's costing me money every month to keep it running.
