Ok, so all of my domains are parked up @ DAN and ALL are make offer listings. I have Google Analytics set to track visitor numbers, and the majority of my domains are receiving a decent number of hits so they are being found.

Since moving across to DAN and using this set up, I have seen a decline in the number of enquiries. Pricing obviously isn't the cause here so this poses a few questions -
  1. Are prospective buyers put off by the Make Offer setup?
  2. Should I change all listings to BIN?
  3. Is this more of a trust issue with the platform itself? Whilst I really like DAN's setup, are buyers more likely to buy if they hit an Afternic Lander?
What do you think?

I've notice this as well

I think the reason is, on Dan make offer landing pages.

The buyer HAS to COMMIT to a offer price, BEFORE they can even engage in a conversation with you.

This has lead me to revert some of my names back to efty & afternic landers to test my theory. Both give the buyer a chance to engage in a message w/o having to be locked into the Market Places Binding Offer setup. aka the ability (INQUIRY).

This is one of the reasons most of my names are using Efty now........I want the opportunity to engage with people

Edit:

When I got offers on DAN and countered they all went quiet, no counter to the counter, no engagement whatsoever - not sure of the reason......

How about Uniregistry landing pages? Are they not as good as Dan?

I have a handful of landing pages with Dan for 2 minths or so and no sale generated yet.

i would prefer BIN; and higher chance sell if so

Avoids “no pays” and forces to pay; upon click

“Make Offer”(with min) if want “shoot for moon”

Thinking about this for a sec, perhaps this would be valid feedback for @DAN.COM?

Any chance of incorporating a section within the static landers that allows buyers and sellers to engage?

I would totally support this!

Good morning @DefinitelyDomains

Thank you for raising these questions.

In answering your questions:
1. The buyers are not put off by the make offer setup as you give them room to negotiate. The downside is that negotiations lead to friction which in turn could quickly turn into a dealbreaker. However, increases and declines are common within this industry.
2. Related to your first question, we cannot stress enough that the buy it now combined with our lease to own option converts best. I would recommend you to use this setup in order to prevent losing time on negotiations. What many users oversee is that all interested buyers always will reach out to DAN.COM's support desk. In turn, our account managers will vet these leads and relay any legitimate offer to the sellers directly. Through it, only the highly legitimate leads will end up with you while you.
3. The matter of trust was something we had to cope with at the start of our company. Nowadays we have found that DAN.COM has become an established brand and even brokers from competing platforms have to go through our marketplace in order to secure the domains their clients need.

Have a great day.

I believe in make offer no matter where it is listed. No need to show my cards or box myself into a specific price. Plus it just gives people with similar names too much info. If earnest contact is initiated I sometimes make a buy it now then.

Vast majority of people looking at our domains are other domainers. Thus low, no or fake offers even with views is very common. I tried Efty for years. Over half of what I got was pure spam. I talked to alot of people but converting to sales through the landers is another thing. On most average names imo less talk is more effective.

I don’t buy the people are afraid to make an offer or commit before contact. The amount of non paying “offers” everywhere tells us people are not afraid to back out or make fake offers quite easily. Just like people are ok to stop paying on installment plans.

I do wish DAN allowed contact without an offer but I don’t believe for the most part it deters anyone who really wants your name.

Well my testing has come to an early conclusion

You make a good point @karmaco and I do like DAN for so many reasons. But I WISH THEY ALLOWED this too, it's very abrasive to start a communication.

However after this Last Failed Sale/Payment I had this past week, learned something....

DAN does NOT grant you buyers details UNTIL the sale is MADE or CANCELLED. Sometimes this take multiple weeks , this time for me it took 1 week. Time is money, HAD I been able to see the Buyer Phone # and @ Email UPFRONT as I can with Efty or other landers. I would have know from the jump, that this was a troll! And Not locked up my time, name, and ENERGY in wondering if this will complete. Efty Spam folder handles just about all the spam and I check it daily.

Again I LIKE DAN, think they are great I WILL use them for Escrow with my own leads, just I'm slowly going to fade out all my landers, the lack of buyer info & ability to communicate with a potential buyer isn't sitting right with me, specially, when its from your own traffic.

EDIT: THIS IS STRICLY MY "MAKE OFFER" lander POV
BIN very different

I think Dan is mainly a landing page solution. I believe end-user sales on Dan are hardly possible if you just listing your names there and not using their nameservers. I wonder if anyone had sales that way?

I have had domains sell via DAN without using the nameservers for their marketplace. Maybe it's because many of my own landers have a "Submit Offer" button that takes the user to the DAN listing.
