Hello!

How important is the domain age ?

Let s say that we have a domain, that by name has a value of 100$ and it is registred today. Now, let s say that we have a domain that by name has a value of 100$ but has been registred since 2000. Everything else is the same, equal (I mean backlinks etc) between the domains, the only difference is the age.

How much value adds the age, if any ?

Great question. It’s one of many factors.

Just a couple of thoughts re the importance of age and domain name values.

I have some well aged domains from the late 90s / early 2000s - not blockbusters or killer type names but lower level type EMDs.

So does their age really matter?

Well, the names have not been available to acquire all those years so their age may make them appealing if offered as they have never been available to purchase for many years.

On the other hand, their general appeal may have waned because other domain names have been purchased and used in their place over the years and those names have become well established identities and possibly brand names for their purchasers.

IMO, a decent, well aged domain should at the very least attract attention in its' potential end-user market as the name has not been available for some time and may be a decent upgrade over a current name in use.

As Samer stated " it's one of many factors".

To me, and in this situation, since age is very important to me. I will add another $100 for the domain & buy it for $200.

i think its a huge factor if its been maintained and not dropped. I mean, if i had created super45lizardtongue.net in 1995 it still wouldnt have value like grocery.store has if it was regged in 2018. It has to be a good domain also, but also has to have been maintained since then and not dropped. ty. :)

I agree. Unfortunately some dropping sites are killing it by resetting the whois date which in many cases let me pass that auction, unless it's an outstanding name.

i know, considering most domain names arent gold by themselves, it is very important that it was kept up and ran for three decades. :)

of course, all mine are platinum. lol. :)
