I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

I lost a sale because of the outage Jess. The buyer was ready to buy and I had to wait for the site to come back up before I could send him a purchase link with the negotiated price. By the time the site was back up he had already changed his mind. He was going to buy on impulse (like most buyers) and I wasn't ready because of the outage.

When can we expect less outages? What are you guys doing to improve? I have seen at least 3 or 4 in the last 3 months and they last HOURS...either it's the login or the main site or the landers. Or in the case today everything. You guys have the best interface for domaining that I've seen. Please improve...get better! Thanks!

Thanks for the great input NameFu! Over this past three months, Epik has implemented several major upgrades and changes to enhance operability, interface applications, connectivity, resiliency, and the tools and resources that our customers can take advantage of. Most are done in tiers to avoid any downtime, but occasionally they may require full resets or complex data migrations for final activation. There has also been a number of worldwide outages with major network providers such as CenturyLink (Level 3) and others, that are unfortunately outside of Epik control. A number of major service providers, including Cloudflare, Hulu, Netflix, and PlayStation were impacted, typically for periods of 40-50 minutes at max.

The Epik upgrades are pretty amazing though. They include new resiliency protection from common external attacks, but most are resource orientated to provide added benefits for marketing boosts. New ways to create and sort data for the custom landing page editor to enhance SEO/natural organic positioning to drive more leads. An incredible new tool being debugged now for bulk template edits to control Domain Casing, descriptive text, and even meta data for improved search engine positioning for lead stimulation. Faster SSL assignments. I believe Epik is still the only registrar in the world that lets you shift all your domains into standalone websites with free SSL certificates for maximum browser compatibility and associated keyword ranking value with a few clicks. Even if they are with an outside registrar. They have enhanced keyword embedding from 5 phrases to 10 phrases for better marketplace orientation and search control. Plus a host of upgrades that will be featured soon in a new video, least not being dynamic price adjustments on the fly within a single interface panel under the Marketplace section.

PriceExample.jpg

Considering all of this is possible even if the domain isn't registered with them is pretty amazing. Still uncovering new secrets with the Epik interface every day, and it is like having my own rocket ship control panel at the fingertips.

Sorry to hear on the sale you believe has been lost, and hope it can be recovered! If there is anything Epik's premium sales team can do, I am sure they wouldn't mind helping out. You can always reach out to them at [email protected], or go through support chat with details of the transaction. They have some of the best sales staff in the world in my experience, and if the deal can be revived, they would be the ones to do it!

Have a blessed and amazing start to your week. It is going to be a fantastic October, and domaining is still the best profession and past time for anyone with creativity and optimism to participate in. Very thankful for the industry, the people, the names, the opportunities, and the excitement of the close.

Happy Monday!

Yes, it's currently down for me :(
Down here (UK) as well
I has been down a lot lately. I think the increase in popularity could be to blame...strain on the servers...but they should maybe invest in more to secure their system with in influx of revenue. I am a huge fan of Epik, but this has been happening way too often in the last few weeks...
Cant login?
Come on Epik. @Rob Monster, do you know what's going on? Why it happened frequently? Epik is Huge! This cant be real.

Sorry guys, yesterday we were attacked by anonym DDoS. For this reason, you could not log in to our site. Now everything is fine, lessons have been learned. Try again.

Were any Epik accounts compromised during this anonymous attack...

Were any Epik accounts compromised during this anonymous attack...

Denial of service attacks are pretty common for anyone operating online. They were separate to the process of adding additional resiliency and premium services to Epik. We were researching it here, and notated from Netscout that there are roughly 23,000 of them daily. 16 new attacks started every second.

That is a big number. This is what they look like across the Internet as a whole in real time:

www.digitalattackmap.com

Random attacks on data centers I believe are typically designed to narrow bandwidth access. They do not have the capacity to create liabilities for accounts. Your data is safe and in good hands. :xf.smile:

That map there though is crazy, and pretty load intensive just to view it.

Oh no, I can't refill my account at Epik using the same card I've been using for awhile and after talking with merchant support they say there's been no transactions attempted today so...

Is there currently an Epik glitch processing transactions???

Of course I have funds available and I used the same card on Oct. 2nd so this shouldn't be happening.

Update: I used Paypal directly and it worked but the Paypal debit card still won't work.

Update 2: The funds are delayed and not available UGH!!!

Update 3: Funds are now available :)

Same thing happened to me. Rejected a purchase from my visa card.

A major merchant processor had an outage this morning that has apparently impacted many merchants. We are told it should be solved shortly. In the meantime, you can check out via Paypal using a credit card if that is your preferred payment method. Apologies for any inconvenience!

I just registered my first domain name with Epik a few hours ago. I used PayPal and everything was smooth. :-D

Quick update on Epik networking.

On Sunday and early Monday, some essential services were under a heavy DDOS attack from China. While we don't know the reason, we know the source. In the coming weeks, Lord-willing, we'll work through the chain of traffic to determine the ultimate sponsor of this nonsense.

On the positive side, this incident prompted us to finally move our core services behind BitMitigate DDOS and CDN. We also took the opportunity to make further refinements to our networks both for speed and for resiliency. Your SSL landing pages are loading faster than ever.

As you can see below, the number of cities that are now seeing ~1 millisecond access times is rising:

China access times also continue to improve due to our progress on network supply chain.

For anyone who encountered network connection issues earlier in the week, we do apologize for any inconvenience that this caused. We certainly don't take the topic lightly.

Long story short: the China lemon is now Epik lemonade. A scheduled migration that would have taken weeks of careful planning and execution was done in about 2 days. Epik is now faster than ever.

As a procedural recommendation, I would encourage anyone looking for a second way to get to Epik, to feel free to download our free VPN at: https://anonymize.com/vpn/

Thanks Rob, I was one of the people who was affected during this issue, and after speaking with both Brooke and Sarah over the phone they hammered at a resolution for making this situation right for all Epik members!

Whenever I have to check "my transfers", the default sort order is from oldest to newest. I think it should be obvious that people checking their transfers are more likely to be interested in their recent/ongoing transfers than in something they transferred when the Persians were besieging Athens...

Great feedback - we'll fix that. I agree most of us are working real-time, rather than contemplating ancient history. I like your historical reference. Whoever said domainers weren't intellectual!

@MasterOfMyDomains - run a Traceroute and PM it. We'll look into it for you. We are on the lookout for bad network routing. You can also install our free Anonymize.com VPN and see if that solves it.
