Moving Away From GoDaddy

To me GD is the pace for my 'most expensive' domains. I trust GD with a $1M domain, not with any other registrar.

For your casual domains, NameSilo & Dynadot are A+ registrars with an outstanding customer service, security, prices & freedom to move & speed up any domain transfer.

It may have been your own merit so far but would be nice to pick up a sale on a search on your keywords.

I considered Porkbun transfer deal a while ago because like you I thought GD renewals on certain extensions were a bit high even with GD membership discount. I can't vouch for them because I didn't follow through, but give them a look. For me, the security aspect of a large well known registrar like GD outweighed the cost savings and effort involved with transfers.

Both Epik and Dynadot are great!

Just because many of us don’t use or don’t like GoDaddy doesn’t mean we are “casual domainers”. I don’t trust GD at all. Service is superior at several other registrars in every way.

Dynadot has a $7.99 transfer going through the end of the year COMTRANS4

Dynadot is excellent. I also like Namesilo. Both are superior to GD imo.

I would recommend either Dynadot or Namesilo. Dynadot is my fave.

Agreed. GoDaddy might have been famous brand-name and all but I just got 17.99 renewal/1 year on one of my .com. Add taxes on it and make it a nice round figure $20.

That is the reason I am thinking of moving. It is not about saving $1 or $2 per domain as I have very less for it to make any substantial difference. It is more about not feeling ashamed of being literally taken advantage of by paying up that kind of money for renewals.

I do have some real good CVCVs and stuff which I want to keep so any other facilities they offer are of no use to me.

I use both Epik and Dynadot. For me it's the same very good quality. In Epik i like easy to find panel with stats:

now I use mostly Epik and for me, it works great. Dynadot only a few domains but not so many advantages for me as Epik.

I use Epik, Dynadot and Namesilo in addition to Godaddy.

At dad I have the DDC plan primarily for auction purchases. Handregs are done at one of the other three but Epik by far gets the majority of my business (full and free privacy is a must for me).

Dunadot for me is the best in everything including price, ease of use, interface, bulk actions, security.

Dynadot also has a super generous renewal timeline. Most others are far more aggressive in applying restoral fees, changing nameservers, selling your domain at auction, etc. imo.

The column WHOIS ( Number of whois query ) is definitely a killer feature that helps decide whether to drop or renew a domain.

I have no complaints with Dynadot. Have a hundred or so there but Epik has been intriguing me for a while.

Godaddy IMO is one of the worst registrars to work with. There interface is inconvenient and time consuming. Not to mention their prices. I found the registrar internet.bs to be most easy to manage domains, including bulk edits. very intuitive and straight forward. great prices. Have had many domains with them for years.

As most people suggested, Dynadot, Namesilo and Epik are pretty much the best registrars on the market today.

Dynadot currently has a transfer promo so you might want to take advantage of this.

Cost wise probably the leaders would be, not in any particular order:

• Porkbun
• NameSilo
• Epik
• Dynadot
• Domain Cost Club (not the GD one by the one by this name)
• Namecheap

It depends somewhat on the TLDs you have and whether you just want everyday prices or take advantage of discounts. If you do go Epik, be sure to have your account marked NamePros to get their domainer discount pricing.

Some have good pricing every day, and others you will need to take advantage of promotions to get the best pricing (e.g. Namecheap increasingly that way). NameSilo tend to have good pricing but not many promotions. Dynadot is a nice combination between good everyday pricing and deals beyond that as well, as are Epik (for domainer pricing).

Is Sedo and Afternic integration important? GD, Namecheap and Porkbun have Afternic, but not Sedo MLS, fast transfer /premium network I think. Epik, NameSilo, Dynadot have both Afternic and Sedo network.

Is having their own marketplace important? All on my list except Domain Cost Club and Porkbun have that. Poirkbun do now have their own landers to sell names, so I guess a sort of marketplace.

It seems hard for me to judge if larger means safer. I would see primary risks are technical mixup, human mixup, or lack of due process if a claim is made against a domain name.

Sav, which I don't think anyone has mentioned, definitely has low pricing. I have not, yet, personally used it is why I did not place it on my list.

If you are planning to use the landers at the registrar, they offer very different options. Also, if selling through a registrar lander, Epik and NameSilo allow payment plan options (can also do that through DAN of course).

You mentioned at 60 domain names that GD discount club not worth it, but it seems to me it might even at that number. Depends on plan price which varies with the country and with discount coupons for the service, and what TLDs your domains are in.

Ease of use I think they are all pretty good (I use GD and all of the above, and a number of others).

Of course check that privacy, ability to forward, set DN records as well as DNS, etc. are included free (or factor in the cost). Some prefer a free email account on the name.

Epik do offer easy at a glance performance tabs with things like how many visits the name has got, how many Whois lookups, Estibot valuations, etc.

For me with 10,000 domains Epik is a very easy decision. Five quick reasons:

Dynadot is by far better than most registrars, it's even better than GD but since I sell geos quickly I prefer to register those with GD.

I have no issues or complains with Dynadot, renewals are fairly priced and they're afternic partners as well so my vote is going to be for them.

Well, its a great choice. GoDaddy is the worst registrar which has created a monopoly over time. You can just look at the recent case of stolen domains which they sold through their aftermarket and only selectively refunded one buyer, the rest are up to their fate, so if you are not a high value client, they won't care. As in my case, I got banned from their aftermarket for no reason, you won't believe me. If you try to approach them and call them out, they play the legal card. Even going as far as making wrong allegations against you when you try to follow the legal approach as I tried to do -- look how @Joe Styler and @Paul Nicks reacted, in both cases.

From the above cases its clear, GoDaddy is shady and only cares about certain buyers, call it PARTIAL TREATMENT. So unless you own a million dollar portfolio, its a bad idea to Go with GoDaddy. Just avoid them.

Finally, its a WISE decision to move away from GoDaddy, you should have done it decades back. @epik and @Dynadot both are cool.

Epik was voted #1 registrar by the way.

I recently tried Porkbun. Just to test waters. Easy. Simply works. Good pricing (even though Dynadot com transfer code is cheaper at the end). Fast support - I received replies in minutes (during U.S. working hours). Afternic fast transfer intergration as well as local marketplace (where I see some things to improve) make it a good option for a domainer
