Without going into too much detail I just picked up 55 .realty domains, and I'm seeking other NP members input for speed marketing these domains since their renewal is $299 in a year.

Suffice it to say, many of my domains are one word like Dolphin.realty, and two word domains like MoveUp.realty. There are hundreds of thousand of real estate agents in the US, and thousands of new ones getting their real estate license each month.

While I plan to work with Epik in some capacity via landing pages etc., my main plan is to "outbound market" .realty domains and develop a custom website specifically targeting agents, brokers and new agents.

I haven't nailed down the pricing yet, but the domains need to be less than a thousand dollars with options to finance 12-24 months.

I was a little reluctant to share this, but I thought what the heck? Two heads are always better than one and 3, 4, 5, 6 etc. are far better than two.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas? Thanks:xf.smile:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Many good realtors own Georealty.com or FirstNameREealty.com or Lastnamerealty.com
I think they are the one who already know a bit about online marketing and might want to buy.

But thousand don't even have a website. They might be a hardsell just to sell a domain name. They simply advertise on Zillow etc and don't bother have a websote. Also their company (Big RE Firms) promote thier phone number on social media in their area of operation... But it is a number game, One will bite

QLD dotrealty
I already have QLDrealty dotcom, dotnet, dotorg etc

QLD is geo acronym for Queensland, Australia:
Population 5.2 million.
Average property value around half-million.

It's a good ROI risk!

I've just like to say its been a while since I have been excited about doing some outbound. The vc promotion was nice, but this one is targeting an industry with deep pockets.

Fortunately I was able to get a few decent names and I will be shooting for the moon (of course the 'make offer' will be in play).

It is irrelevant that afternic does not support this extension. It is an Epik deal and promotion and I don't intend to use any other marketplace. If godad wants me to be exclusive marketing on their site and downline, they will have to come up with a comparable deal (we know that won't ever happen).

I managed to acquire about 70 3L .realty names and about 30 keyword-based ones.
Many ideas came from scouring through glassdoor.com, value.today, and globalpropertyguide.com.
For the keyword-based ones, I plan on making landers as my VRCFX.com domain has, so I view it as a good exercise in freshening up my copywriting and SEO knowledge.

Here's a list of some of the more favorable .realty domains that I own:

Sicily
BoraBora
Canary
Santorini
Corfu
Corsica
Ceylon
GrandCayman
Paros
Milos
Langkawi
Palawan
Gozo
Iceberg
Ecologic
Investable
Attain
Gain
Grab
Revamp
AWE
Herr
Judy
Josh
1ON1
DFY (Done For You)
MKT
XAI (Explainable Artificial Intelligence)

I agree this TLD is PRIME for outbound -- the asymmetric return scenario is clear.

As for the renewal rate, for a retail buyer who needs ONE domain for their ONE realty practice, paying less than $1 a day for a memorable address that implies professional competency, is not a stretch.

The reality is that quality .COM has largely fallen into very strong hands. If some has a choice of buying a quality .com for $5000 or buying a .REALTY, they have a ~ 20 years covered for that same budget.

For someone with a reasonable ability to generate financial return on cash, 6% on $5000 is $300. In other words, it would theoretically be self-funding to own a .REALTY versus a a mid-market .COM.

The economics of $299 .REALTY makes sense for an end-user who uses it. The video showcase clearly shows an abundance of industry professionals already using it.

That video is dynamite. For anyone doing outbound, that video is very effective:

It has been liked 1400 times with 150K views. Pretty decent engagement.

Question.

Why would a realtor want an extension that is available to the public vs extensions reserved for Realtors only (.realtor™ and .realestate)?

These names are advertised, Supported/Owned(?) by the National Association of Realtors - to the industry professionals directly by the National Association of Realtors (in the USA anyway)

Before I jump in and buy some, trying to wrap my head around the value prop for the extention?

Thanks,

Correction added below:

The .realtorTM domain is exclusively for members, firms, and boards of the National Association of REALTORS® and the Canadian Real Estate Association.

but, The .realestate domain is available to the general public.

The biggest herd is that of .com = king ;)

Get your expectations right regarding risk vs reward and be aware of Epiks agenda regarding these promotions and people will be allright.

Common sense goes a long way ;)
I think I'm just numb to these types of threads after all the other ones about over-hyped-but-ultimately-disappointing extensions.

.Best anyone?

Three thoughts:

1. REALTOR is a trademark for the AMERICAN Trade association. .REALTY is for the entire world. .REALTOR decides who gets to play. Lose your NAR membership? Lose your domain. Yuck.

2. .REALTOR is literally a monopoly -- you have to use their registrar. Yuck.

For the folks who have outbound and SEO skill, the .REALTY economics for outbound are compelling. For the moment, I am not suggesting buy and hold by domainers. If .REALTY ultimately approves our proposal for Forever domains, that could change.

There is an abundance of available high quality .REALTY domains for $0.99. Check it out:

Everyone should pay attention to the words above.

These ARE NOT sit and hold domain names (unless the registry owner drops our renewal price to something reasonable).

Only those with the time to devote to aggressive outbound marketing will hit a home run more than once. I do believe there will be interest from the industry (realty types) that will cause them to type in their personal/firm name to see if it is available. If the pricing is good, I imagine there will be some sales without outbound efforts.

At .99 I regged a few that I am sure will not get any traffic, much less will sell...unless I aggressively market them. It is going to take some creative steps to get a sale but one name sold, that is priced properly, will make it all worth while.

I do wish you all well, seriously, but some of the domains being registered..... just slow down and think. Ask yourself who will actually buy the specific <keyword>.realty you are wanting to reg. Just because it is cheap does not make it a deal. Remember, in the Gold Rush, with notable exceptions, the guys that made millions were the ones selling the supplies to the miners. With a renewal price that is outrageously high, you are not committing to buying and sitting around sipping on wine and waiting for the sales; you will actually have to spend time on every single reg if you hope it will sell. Your labor is money.

.realty

Right now, I would pick .REALTY for most. Why?

I think .VC is mostly picked over now. If you can pick up some .VC drops, then there is potential there. The messaging that is going out this week to 30,000 VCs is going to reinforce that .VC is for Venture Capital. It is an uplifting thank you message that positions .VC as the .COM for VCs. At $4.99 you have to choose wisely.

I think .REALTY at $0.99 is an easy choice. Pick 100 .REALTY names that map to names that at least 10 identifiable realty professionals would logically want to own. Then outbound those 100 until you sell 1 domain for $100 or more. I would then let the other 99 ride for 10 months for inbound.

For inbound, I would use the Epik SSL landers. I would load up those pages with custom SEO texts and use one of the royalty free graphics that we licensed for Epik landers. You can see that list here. These landers can look hot. You can also incorporate the video promo.

See examples of how one client is doing it:

www.bluewater.realty
www.biomed.realty
www.bayside.realty
www.seashore.realty
www.executive.realty
www.freedom.realty
www.highcountry.realty
www.advantage.realty
www.empire.realty
www.innovative.realty

Around month 10 with 2 months to go on your 1st year, move to active outbound to invite inquiries.

And if anyone gets an inquiry on these .realty domains and needs help closing a deal, just ask and we'll help out, sometimes calling skeptical clients who want to talk to someone before buying.

Thanks for your detail reply.
You are right , most of the good vc are taken but never all good cant be taken I think - .com or .vc or any.

Like I was searching for SaoPaulo.vc which was taken so I took BuenosAires.vc Oceania.vc and SouthAmerica.vc today.

Also took many existing vc firm with an inferior or longer .com. Need to reach them.

You have made some good points.

My main arguments would be

1. .realty is shorter than the others
2. There exists a world/planet outside of the USA and Canada, that .realtorTM does not service. If I was in those two countries, sure I would be looking at .realtor, but most are not.

Edit: I'm seeing some odd names being registered. IMO stick to geo and city names!

Agreed. It's definitely hyped. 99% or more of these regs will never sell. Chances are slim people will make decent money on these. Like said, they have to be marketed aggressively to make sales on these, that's not for anyone.

Personally, I have little hopes for this exercise to turn out profitable. (time/effort taken into consideration)

I wouldn't compare Realty to Best though. Realty has obvious matching buyers whereas Best is more random. But yeah, offer cheap regs and domainers will bite, history repeats :)

I actually get a kick being told to F off or the more polite not interested, puts a smile on my face. The more no's gets you closer to that elusive yes...

If people like the grind then reg 5- 10 .realty domains outbound them hard on LinkedIn and see if anyone bites, if they do and it sells then fill your boots and repeat. This way if it fails your down a maximum of 10 dollars, no big deal then...

If your just going to sit on hundreds of these then good luck, can't see it happening either....

There is always the possibility that the renewal cost will be reduced going forward. I remember early on with .pro the renewals were quite high but had come down.
That's true too, but the $299 renewal gives an "end user" a means by which to afford an ideal domain today and essentially pay for it later. Take for example, I just bought Gourmet.realty where GD estimates it's value to be $1,928. While I'm not sure yet what price tag I'll put on it, most likely it will be under a thousand dollars.

The name "Gourmet Realty" conjures up thoughts of high end real estate like; Beverly Hills, Park Avenue, Palm Beach or The Hamptons where a $299 annual renewal is peanuts.

Ok but in how many of these places realty/realtor is even a word?

Or it will get forever associated with unsolicited advertising.

Realty is used in Australia, but I have not done any research outside of that.

Got my first offer earlier today. Very low $xxx. I know the realtor personally. The main concern is the hefty renewal fee. Over a 10 year span that would mean 3K. That budget opens up some other possibilities.

Just something to keep in mind. Probably will not close this one as for this specific buyer I don't think it's the best fit so I'm not gonna push it.

Congrats....just a suggestion for you and other NP members, always check the .com equivalent of any .realty you're purchasing. You'll either find; 1. it's in use as a website (learn from it) 2. it's owned and it's for sale 3. it's owned and it's not for sale, and 4. it's registered, but that's about all you know. Also, I always go to hosterstats.com to learn how long it's been owned and registered. It's my opinion that all this information is valuable. I recently bought a pretty good 5 letter .realty domain and was I surprised to find the .com was available. So knowing the .com probably has more value than the .realty name, I bought it:xf.smile: The other reason I bought it is because a savvy "end user" buyer would more than likely buy the .com for far less than he/she would have paid me for the .realty. Anyway, always check the equivalent. It's just smart business.

Thanks CraigD....along the same lines, but with a little different twist I just picked up ICW.realty and along with it ICWRealty.com Here in the US, ICW stands for "Intercoastal Waterway" The ICW is over 3,000 miles (4,800 km) long. It's an inland waterway that starts in Boston, Mass then runs south along the Atlantic Coast, around the Keys and the Gulf of Mexico and ends up in Texas. I've probably done 1,500 miles myself, and passed literally thousands of waterfront homes worth billions of dollars. And just as important, there are millions of people who live within a few miles of the ICW who recognize the acronym if it were to be used in conjunction with either .realty or .com.

Totally agree...while I just picked up SweetSpot.realty because it's catchy and it's cool, it's moot unless I can flash it to the world.
