I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I keep renewing

Booklet
Booklets

U think its good thing to do?

Maybe Booklet, but unless you're planning to sell them as a pair, then Booklets is the weak link.

I found it very amusing that 3 of the top TBR domains this week, including some that went for big bucks at auction, were actually selected on a 2019 TBR and then dropped only a year later:

Martindale.ca - Selected #14 from August 14, 2019 (MyID)
Pointer.ca - Selected #44 from July 10, 2019 (DynaDot)
Brazilian.ca - Selected #22 from August 14, 2019 (MyID)

These are all very nice domains, and at the very least Martindale probably cost the original owner some $$$ at auction, so it really makes you wonder what kind of planning went on to only give them a year.

And the pick of the week is definitely:

I see their ads quite often on CP24! A popular news channel here in Ontario.

Don't jump the gun, there's another new contender for king of the hill this week.
I’m getting hungry!

I’m saying MyId gets it and goes for $8500.

I’m saying MyId gets it and goes for $8500.

I think that price is a bit generous at wholesale (assuming a (cough) real person buys it :xf.cool:), especially as LL.ca sales are not exactly crushing the charts. The last open sales I remember were CD.ca and SI.ca for $2-$5K, although there were some 5-figure outliers like DT.ca and AR.ca, but those were at private marketplaces, i.e. the HARD sell to a client.

But on average you're not going to see a huge % return at an $8.5K price, and if you push a certain entity, expect a CDRP from a creepy glass-eyed guy with a crown. And in the current IPO climate, I think they'd stand a good chance to win it with the vast promotional use of BK and a registration date of 2020.

But that's if The King even cares about the CA... if not, who's going to pay even 5-figures?

CD was defiantly an oops sale. I missed that auction as well. I know the story behind that one.

Im still saying that if MyId gets it, it will go for around $8500. If someone else catches it then lower for sure. We all know that MyId auctions goes for more than anywhere else. Well my experience anyway.

I’m sitting on 5 two letter .ca’s. No rush to sell but just nice to have.

This one in particularly is risky because there is really only 1 real potential end user. Unless I’m missing someone. And if they don’t inquire about it, you’re stuck with it.

and if you push a certain entity
Whoever picks it up and tries to do this, not a wise move. I think it’s one of those you sit on and wait..... And wait....

I know, and that's why I'm not willing to lay $8K on it - I'd much rather translate that same money into premium and semi-premium domains that are much easier sells.

This is one of these "nice to own and show off" domains but that's not my angle.

Me either. But the way some of these auctions have been going lately, someone probably will if it gets into a bidding war between 2 people.

Or one rich person.... :-P

could be an expensive week for someone...

Definitely, but to be honest (other than the bling factor of owning an LL) I would probably rather have Ranger in terms of a quicker sale and higher ROI.

And not that I'm in the running for either one - no time for anything this week (problems, problems, problems eating up my ever-decreasing free time - not to mention the GoDaddy Deadbeat Trio and their Top-40 hit "We Ain't Never Gonna Pay!") and I'm just gonna roll with the domains + prices I have on order now and hope for the best.

Well the closing bids on NamePros are as follows:

BK.ca - $4,050

Ranger.ca - $1,010

That should give us a fair idea on the potential wholesale price on other TBR venues.

wow. those are some surprising results. Dynadot comes from left field. MyID shut out.

DynaDot getting BK.ca is absolutely insane, and did anyone here get in their auction for that one?

It's my birthday today, and I did okay so far on the known TBR vendors, but I'll have to wait to see what I got outright at others like Siber. I also just made a very nice .CA sale a few minutes ago (it'll be on the Sedo list unless they pay for privacy), so I might take a shot at some auctions.

Now... if one of those GD Deadbeats actually pays for their ill-bid-on-booty, it'll truly be a birthday to remember.

P.S. Due to the ultra-premium domains this week, I broke down and bid at MyID... and they got shut out. Coincidence?

yeah, but the auction doesn't close for 10 days, so this one will be dragged out.

Happy Birthday! Congrats on the sale too. And give it time, sometimes it takes time to arrange funds, especially if it's a good sale.

The Sedo one is already in process, but I hold out zero hope that the deadbeats on GoDaddy will ever pay. Very disappointing, as the first one was a random BIN (danger danger) but the other two were negotiated deals over a week+ - you'd have to be a pretty stupid deadbeat to waste time negotiating a price that you're NOT going to pay. :xf.cool:

One from the 8th is already cancelled by GD for extreme deadbeatism, and the other two are from September 10 and 22. Only the first was "very nice money", but the other two were still low 4-figures and both added up would have really helped my TBR fund.

Odds on seeing a thin dime = 0%.

I'm also very interested to see what I won outright at Siber and dot-ca (they won on the WHOIS), as in finding out which of these I didn't get last-second sniped on by RLM, and have to fight it out in auction against Daddy TBRBucks. :xf.grin:
