Without going into too much detail I just picked up 55 .realty domains, and I'm seeking other NP members input for speed marketing these domains since their renewal is $299 in a year.

Suffice it to say, many of my domains are one word like Dolphin.realty, and two word domains like MoveUp.realty. There are hundreds of thousand of real estate agents in the US, and thousands of new ones getting their real estate license each month.

While I plan to work with Epik in some capacity via landing pages etc., my main plan is to "outbound market" .realty domains and develop a custom website specifically targeting agents, brokers and new agents.

I haven't nailed down the pricing yet, but the domains need to be less than a thousand dollars with options to finance 12-24 months.

I was a little reluctant to share this, but I thought what the heck? Two heads are always better than one and 3, 4, 5, 6 etc. are far better than two.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas? Thanks:xf.smile:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The estibot appraisal is through the roof. I registered 93 domains and the estibot appraisal is $21585

Taking offer for the portfolio from 2000 lol

I was lucky to get About.realty :xf.love:

I think I'll develop a portal about .realty domains. Since I also got webs.realty :playful:
Jona, i may be able to help if you'd like. I own 170 .realty domains with the last one registered a few minutes ago; Endeavor.realty. I was involved in the relaunch of the .homes domain about 18 months ago that turned out to be a disaster mostly because of the total lack of cooperation from Dominion Domains and it's management. It seems to me that Epik and the owner of the .realty extension will work with us to register more domains between now and renewal time. Send me a PM if you would like some help, Thanks(y)

I was able to grab
Group.realty
Rooms.realty
Crib.realty
Builders.realty

Do you think outbounding won't call for low offer @Rob

Like Builders.realty best...not sure about outbound vs. inbound pricing?

I just bought Naked:xf.rolleyes:realty. Maybe if you're selling unfurnished homes:xf.wink:

another tip for "outbound"...in my previous post I said I'd just bought Naked.realty and here is what GD says about it;

"Another extension sold with high price: naked.mobi with a different extension sold for over $10500."

I did not realize that. Afternic don't handle a number of, even highly registered TLDs (e.g. .top, .icu). I presume there were near zero .realtor domains in the aftermarket) prior to this promotion, so not surprising it was not handled. Interesting to see if that changes if the TLD catches on.
Bob
and by Afternic, i assume you mean Go Daddy? Afternic is GD's aftermarket brokerage, but I see where GD does appraisals, valuations and comparisons for .realty domains. Funny story....about an hour ago I registered the domain Naked.realty that appraised at GD for $597 and at Estibot/Epik for $530, so I thought why not(y)....then it gets better, naked and nude are synonyms, so I check to see if Nude.realty was available, and Voila! Even better Estibot/Epik appraise Nude.realty for $2,700:xf.rolleyes:. Looks as though I'll need to "outbound" Nude.realty and Naked.realty to realtors at my local nudist camp. Anyone care to join me:xf.wink:

I prepared a small list and noted the Early bird timing well in advance ( as I live in Saudi Arabia) converted Pacific time to Saudi time and fix the alarm correctly. When the alarm ringed, I place my names in Epik Bulk search and lucky to get the following names:

Nice list. I got to the promotion only now, and what a surprise, buy . realty is not offered for 99 c ;) Still, an alternative buy home zone . com for only $95 seems to me much better purchase ...

I was considering to get one . realty and develop a website for my passion, but the renewal price ultimatively stopped me.

Herd mentality really is in full effect here.

Will be interesting to re-visit this thread in a year and see how everyone did with their names.

I would not personally call it herd mentality, unless you use that term for when sales are on in other contexts. At regular price I never considered this extension. If you look at probability of sale and likely sale price relative to cost per year, made no sense to me.

But now the math, for the first year only, has changed dramatically. I have regged almost 40 now. Do I think any of them is likely to sell this year? Probably not. But the way I viewed the math I would these days pay $40 for a not very great expiry auction name. Is there 1/40 the chance of selling one of these compared to a .com you can get for $40. Hard call, past numbers say probably not. But I think what people are hoping on is that .realty will get enough notice that retail sales, at some level, will happen. I regard this as a high risk investment, but at $40 it is money I can afford to lose.

Back to herd, I am not getting them because others are. In fact the opposite to some degree, if not some good one words left, I would not get any. Rather I am getting them because at $1 for one year the small chance of a sale seems worthwhile to me.

I agree with you that the test will be how it worked out in a year's time. So the test will be are there enough $$$/low$$$$ sales to justify the one year costs. One needs about 1/10 the sell-through rate of a hand reg .com for this to make sense.

Bob

PS

No I mean Afternic, the marketplace with about 16.7 million domains. It works with a large number of registrars, not just GD, so that the names appear within the registration stream of all those registrars. Sedo have their own network, but not as broad. Yes, GD purchased Afternic some years ago, as they recently did parts of Uniregistry, but Afternic and GD are not interchangeable, even though the two are increasingly linked. And yes, as you point out GD appraisal gives values for all domain extensions as far as I know, even those GD and Afternic do not handle.

The biggest issue with .Realty is Realtors don't know it exists yet. Hence allowing domain investors to directly register domains and call businesses to make the pitch. I went to Google Maps. Scrolled over a random area and typed in "Realty". I saw Silverton Realty pop out at me. I googled Silverton and it is a town in multiple states.

Silverton Oregon Population: 10,643
Silverton Idaho Population: 609
Silverton Colorado Population: 637
Silverton is a Hotel in Las Vegas that had a $150-million renovation in 2004.
Village of Silverton, Ohio population: 4,750
Silverton is a small town in Washtington State

All those leads and at a cost of $0.99. For someone that can spend a few hours chasing leads. This could be a $300 sale in one day. If your willing to work at this and put some elbow grease in this is a fantastic business opportunity. There are literally thousands of opportunities like this in .Realty. Pricing needs to be correct. Trying to sell a $4K domain will not have the sell through rate a $300 domain will. So rinse and repeat. Keep it affordable and sell a bunch.

PS: If you do well, connect with me. Plenty of premium inventory left on the shelf for top performers that can sell to end users.

I grabbed 10+/-because wtf... They were only $1 each. Im not losing much. I live in South Florida, so I grabbed some of the local cities and area codes. Example. 954.realty, miamishores.realty, southmiami.realty, etc. But honestly, if I knew in advance I would have prepared a list and grabbed a hundred or so. I can also tell you I will be renewing exactly none of them if they don't sell.

How do you plan to sell them? Are you going to reach out or just put up a landing page? What pricing are you thinking about?

One out of 100 registered names gets sold, you got your money back plus profit. You have one year time to try sell. Minimum risk.

Since you live in South Florida why wouldn't you prepare a short list of your domains and email them to some of your local brokers and agents to see if they have an interest? Your idea for area code .realty is a good one and I see where 954.mortgage or 954.finance might be good ones to package with 954 since real estate and mortgage/finance go hand in hand. MiamiShores and SouthMiami are good names too. You might look at picking up CoconutGrove.realty or TheGrove.realty for .99 as well. Anyway....Good Luck and I wish I could help you sell them.

Have one of my VA's gather potential leads and I'll email. Im undecided on pricing. I really wish I could keep a few of the ones I regged but these renewal fees are killer.

If it was 10 dollar renewal I would keep too. I got a lot of pretty names that have several people marketing as the same "Name" "Realty", but I really wonder where the 299 renewal is coming from. That is not a viable renewal for any tld.

There is always the possibility that the renewal cost will be reduced going forward. I remember early on with .pro the renewals were quite high but had come down.

The $299 renewal is coming from the owner of the .Realty extension who also happens to be a domainer with some prior industry experience. He explained his idea to me at the time (12 months ago) and it made pretty good sense. Hopefully he's following this thread, and maybe he'll poke his head in and explain. I think I may have connected with him via Linkedin, but I haven't had time to track him down:xf.wink:

The biggest herd is that of .com = king ;)

Get your expectations right regarding risk vs reward and be aware of Epiks agenda regarding these promotions and people will be allright.

Common sense goes a long way ;)
