Domain marketplaces are competing for our business! I put this list together just to wrap my brain around the various commissions from which we can choose. These are all the big players I can think of at the moment. Please feel free to suggest additions and/or changes. There's some nuances I didn't include (e.g., transaction fees) but this is just a brief sort from highest to lowest commissions.

20% Afternic.com/GoDaddy.com
15-35% SquadHelp.com
15-30% BrandBucket.com
15% Sedo.com
9% Epik.com
9% DAN.com
7.5% NameSilo.com (3% if wire transfer)
5% Efty.com with DAN integration
5% DynaDot.com
4% Sav.com
0-15% Uniregistry.com
0% Efty.com (fee to use)

Version 3 (pdf) attached. Created spreadsheet to better organize, updated with NP member suggestions, and conducted more research to improve accuracy. Please review and offer any suggestions, changes and/or comments. Keep in mind the topic of this thread. Thx!

Nice research @spikedo!

I'd say the list should be in reverse, with the lowest commission options on top ;)

On a serious note, for me, as a domainer, it's really important I can use a no or low-commission option for my for-sale landing pages that give me the freedom to also tap into the exposure you can get from listing on a higher-commission marketplace such as Afternic.

The power of Afternic is obviously not in the marketplace (which, I agree, is a pretty crappy site, but to argue that's on purpose is a little far-fetched), it is in the distribution network, getting your names to show up in the registration path of popular end-user registrars such as NameCheap and GoDaddy is key to increase sales.

Afternic is selling domains for me consistently without me using their nameservers so imo the 20% commission is well earned as long as your own for-sale landing page isn't bringing the buyer.
