question Parking domains, is it worth?

I know that if you buy random domain names you will never get any parking revenue.

Is it possible to profit from parking domains if you buy expired domains with backlink opportunities and can you make serious money from it?
What is the return of investment from a realistic point of view? I know that the obvious answer is depends, but if anyone can share their personal experience on this matter, I would appreciate it a lot.

Everything depends how much do you pay the domain.
Just to make an example:
iowajobs.org was expired and according to me can make 50-100$/month from domain parking.
But it has gone into auction and sold for around 6000$: it's not worth it anymore. Consider that traffic decrease in time for parked domains.
So again it depends how much do you pay the domain.
I made also my own script to try to register expired domain at reg fee to reduce costs for uncertain domains.
There are still opportunities but there is also too much competition.

The only way you can make money from parking if you have type in traffic.
If you have referral traffic and good back links, you will be better off flipping it as a SEO domain or build out a site and make use of the existing back links and refferal traffic, otherwise you will be killing off a hen that pays golden eggs

I always taste domain for parking
NudistBeach was dropped and I thought it was only two word so there has to be some type in... Nopes... Zero
Parked o bodis for 3 days and deleted the domain
Condomium- Thought of people will mistype this for condominiums and again nada

Latest one is a typo of a famous website again, 1 type in 2 days. will delete that as well at the end of 5 days

Dynadot has automatic option called grace deletion. You get 100 hours to delete any domain
Epik you have to get it set up. They also give 5 days

I think if you have domain that everyday people type on their browser. You can make money on it.

nudistbeach is good name, but you just have to consider the "times" that we are in.
nobody is really going to the beach nowadays and they sure aren't going to be nude... if they do.

maybe in a couple of years, things might change, but if it got 30 visitors the whole year and earned at least $10, that would pay renewal fee.

the other, condomium, is a decent generic typo, which might produce 10 or more visits in same period, but epc could determine worthiness.

back in the day, when housing market was hyped, before it crashed, a name like that would have gotten more type-ins.
note, that period circa 2007-2008, was also the peak for ppc.
it's also same time when overture tool died
and.... around same time that google began to overtake yahoo, who had been providing the OVT, which we abused to death -
prior to the GKWT, that is heavily used today.

Totally agree with your assessment, and that is why i bought in the first place.
parking income has gone down really had these days

And overture was the best lol.
I wish I quit my day job those days. But my day job allowed me travels and was kinda exciting. But the SEO etc was so stupid easy those days.. I want to go back in time lol.

after reading your post, i went back to check some old sedo stats of some typos i regged.... mostly just to see if any of them were available to register.
names like:
consiladationloans com, back then, epc was $3.27, earned $19.32 from 31 visitors.
also had singular consiladationloan.com which earned about $8 from 21 visitors, paying $2 per click.

Do you buy names in same niche? It may be hard to monetize anything you cannot pool the streams of revenue. It may take long time to earn min payouts.

There is still a ton of opportunity to make serious money parking. If you get a good system in place you don’t have to spend thousands for each domain. In order to get the right system you will have to spend some money on trials and errors to get the right formula.
