Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

I wonder if we really want more asymptomatic cases vs obvious cases?
Even if less severe to the carrier, it may not be so for the people who are unwittingly infected by the asymptomatic carrier.
Yes, that's another point of view.
But the point is to wear a face mask, to not spread the virus, and even if you get the virus, to not die.
If everybody wear a face mask, the probability of spreading the virus and getting real sick by the disease it's reduced very much, in my opinion.
Even if you don't wear a face mask and you get infected, you will not develop the disease instantly (that would prevent you to spread the virus to everybody around you) but it can take up to 14 days to develop the disease, and meanwhile spreading the virus, whatever will be the degree level of the developed covid-19 disease in 14 days.

Trump ignores science at dangerous indoor rally

(CNN)President Donald Trump offered a glaring new example of his refusal to put medical science before politics with a large indoor rally Sunday night that made a mockery of social distancing, while the pandemic he mismanaged has now claimed more than 194,000 American lives.

The event in Nevada -- his second rally in the state in as many days -- did not only risk the health of those present, thousands of whom were packed together inside a manufacturing facility in defiance of the state's ban on local gatherings of 50 people or more. It also has the potential to turn into a super spreader event that could seed Covid-19 outbreaks in the wider community. Trump hadn't held an indoor rally in nearly three months, since his last one, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after which the city saw a surge in cases and multiple campaign staffers along with Secret Service agents tested positive for the virus.

'Play it down': Trump admits to concealing the true threat of coronavirus in new Woodward book

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump admitted he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and "more deadly than even your strenuous flus," and that he repeatedly played it down publicly, according to legendary journalist Bob Woodward in his new book "Rage."

"This is deadly stuff," Trump told Woodward on February 7.

In a series of interviews with Woodward, Trump revealed that he had a surprising level of detail about the threat of the virus earlier than previously known. "Pretty amazing," Trump told Woodward, adding that the coronavirus was maybe five times "more deadly" than the flu.

It's hard to understand how Trump could stand by and let so many people lose their lives and livelihoods. I guess he thought dealing with it head on would reflect badly on him.

The Canadian response during that time wasn't great, either:

The 2 Canadian lead health officials mentioned - Tam and Hajdu - didn't make sense with what they were saying, even at the time they were saying it.

Even with a poor response, Canadians managed to contain the virus much better than we did in the U.S.

Coronavirus: Chinese vaccine ready for use in November, top scientist says

Clinical trials of several vaccine candidateshad been progressing smoothly and preparations were being made to go into mass production, Wu Guizhen, the CDC’s chief biosafety expert, said in a programme shown on Monday night by state broadcaster CCTV.

“I joined the experimental group and had a coronavirus shot in April,” Wu said. “I’ve felt quite good in the past few months, nothing abnormal. The process of inoculation did not cause any localised pain.”

A sad day in the U.S.

It is an awful milestone to reach. I can only pray the loved ones of those that have died and the tens of thousand that are 'long haulers' find comfort quickly.

Even sadder that people believe the propaganda while data shows the true cv19 death toll is 6 percent of this figure.

WHO warns of 'very serious situation' in Europe, with 'alarming rates' of virus transmission

(CNN) -- The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that coronavirus cases are surging alarmingly in Europe, as a "very serious situation" unfolds across the continent.

As Covid-19 infections spike to record numbers, European governments are imposing strict local measures and weighing up further lockdowns in a bid to halt a second wave of the pandemic.
But WHO regional director Hans Kluge said at a Thursday news conference that the increase in cases should serve as a warning of what is to come.

"This pandemic has taken so much from us," Kluge said, citing the nearly 4.9 million recorded Covid-19 cases in Europe and more than 226,000 deaths. "And this tells only part of the story," he said. "The impact on our mental health, economies, livelihoods and society has been monumental."

It looks as though this virus is going to be with us for a very long time.

yep.... and about 80% of the people who test positive have no symptoms... so they aren’t sick at all... but they never discuss that now do they... of course not ... it’s a bunch of fucked up bullshit ... lies and deceit... just like I said in this thread months ago

First Proof That a Safer UV Light Effectively Kills COVID-19 Virus

A study conducted by Hiroshima University researchers found that using Ultraviolet C light with a wavelength of 222 nanometers which is safer to use around humans effectively kills SARS-CoV-2 — the first research in the world to prove its efficacy against the virus that causes COVID-19.

A wavelength of 222 nm UVC cannot penetrate the outer, non-living layer of the human eye and skin so it won’t cause harm to the living cells beneath. This makes it a safer but equally potent alternative to the more damaging 254 nm UVC germicidal lamps increasingly used in disinfecting healthcare facilities.

Since 254 nm UVC harms exposed human tissues, it can only be used to sanitize empty rooms. But 222 nm UVC can be a promising disinfection system for occupied public spaces including hospitals where nosocomial infections are a possibility.

The researchers, however, suggest further evaluation of the safety and effectiveness of 222 nm UVC irradiation in killing SARS-CoV-2 viruses in real-world surfaces as their study only investigated its in vitro efficacy.
