With all the redirects forwarding and rolling ip addresses law enforcement and the fact it has been gone a decade doesn't really equate to a 50k sale in prime let alone now.

It muist still have tons of residuak traffic from bookmarks, links, type ins etc

All ripe for VPN affiliates. or Tube sites.

But 50K is a big ass punt

The buyer must be one hell of a VPN affiliate with balls of steel.
Or CBD or casino. Only they have the money to make up that 50K, or some content locking assholes promoting Tube sites

Most of the Big org buys are by casino or CBD operators.

I bought a few big orgs in my Payday loan days, great assets to mask some black russian links :) Eh @golan ?

MediaLink LLC, commissioned by Digital Citizens Alliance, found that media theft websites (torrent, streaming, direct download) earn about $227 million in annual ad revenue. It should be noted that this figure is nowhere close to the harm done to the creative and entertainment industry. As this figure is from 2014, it’s bound to increase in the past three years.

In the study of 40 largest websites (here are the most popular ones) that are only supported by ads, it was found that they earned an average $4.4 million on an annual basis. Talking about the BitTorrent giants like The Pirate Bay, their earning topped $6 million. Moreover, the smaller players can make $100,000 from display advertising.

You might want to reconsider that statement...
Just saying.

I don't think anyone can get profit paying 50k for that name just for the SEO value / traffic that it has.
if i'm wrong, kudos to the buyer

The new owner WILL make that in months with Ads, Banners, backlinks, Affiliate links and verified membership fees.
ALL in dark coins.
Did I forget pop ups?

I personally could build that site duplicating and archived TPB.

from my monetizing experience.. it will be close to impossible make those amounts but i use only white techniques..
but maybe i could be wrong.. there is always something to learn :)

"Risk" of what, exactly?

What sort of risk is the subject line driving at?

what i believe risky is being able to make a positive ROI from that purchase.
I believe 50k for the SEO profile of that domain is too much.
however i'll be happy if the owner will disprove me
