The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I dont know if it is relevant to this forum thread, but do you prefer developing a .in/.co.in and other indian cctlds domain to a website, grow it or you prefer holding it till the right buyer. If i may ask, what % you got your domains developed to a website you hold. Why i am asking is that i am in middle of getting few websites developed and thought of this question .

depends on the domain name for example if I owned domains such as SeoAgency.com then i would sit on it for years until right buyers shows up and on other hands if i owned domains like seoagencynewyork.com then i would develop it cause I will ripe more benefits by developing it then selling it for $xxx only, getting 1 seo client will cover the $xxx sale price and every single client I get becomes PURE profits for me (domain wise) cause I already broke even a possible income from domain sale only from 1 client.

many domainers here owns literally thousands of domains and its not feasible for them to develop every single domain. most of these domainers are full timers so it makes sense for them to sale then develop. so it depends on your goals and what type of domainer you are.

What you have to understand is that the two are totally different.
They seem a bit similar at first glance, but they are like comparing Nainital Hotels and Hand sanitizer.

Domaining has nothing to do with Web development and vice versa.

Different skillsets, different metrics, different effort.

So it should be a question of whether you should develop a site or not based on if you have the time and resources.
A developed site will always sell irrespective of the quality of the domain as long as it has traffic and revenue.

A domain will only sell if it has buyers who wants that name and that tld

One mroe thing. Most of the domains selling for 1k to 20K as a brand or keyword, are best sold as domains.
Unless it is category defining keyword, the value of your domain will not have any impact on the sale of a website at the 6 figure range.

My best .in, by far, is govi.in.

India uses india.gov.in as its main tld and gov.in is it's email system.

I have had over 66,000 visits and $169 in parking income. But I have not had any offers on it.

I have Webmail.co.in which gets 12,000+ uniques a year and makes a few dollars. Had a few offers but nothing worth considering.

Did own Gov.co.in which as you can imagine got huge traffic and reasonable income.

Are .co.in still used widely in India? I guess that now .in is much more popular and used than co.in, is this correct? Because I remember many years ago the Indians businesses were almost all using .co.in.

I checked namebio and the .co.in sales are very few in the last year it seems there is very little interest. There is still some aftermarket for them or not at all?

I found one good .co.in domain in one of my niches and I would like to add it to my portfolio. It is cheap (99$) considering the same word .in is up for sale at high four figures. I am not so interested in reselling as I have plans to develop a few names on this niche but anyway since I don't know when and if I will find the time to develop it I don't want to buy something that has not any resale value.

It makes sense to buy it or better get the [keyword]India.com at reg fee and go to have a nice dinner with saved money?

Very little market for .co.in, end users in India are reluctant to shell out for a good product/ business relevant name preferring to have a nonsensical hand reg. Even with .in it is the exception to have an end user buy quality for much the same reason.
Thought .co.in might just benefit with "coin" ".co.in" with Crypto, Coin etc huge in the market but again apart from a few exceptions has not happened.

.in looked to be a perfect extension match for many solutions, Internet, insurance etc but never happened. .io claimed what ought to have been the right of .in!

Sad but true.

Most of the Big .in buys are generic buys by investors, or by global .com operators buying the cc version. But .in is a nice TLD so it will get developed someday when the .io madness is over.
have you been bidding the recent io auctions. WTF man..

Indian start ups also like the ai, io etc

For development, it doesn't matter. I am an end user developer and I never buy .co.in
.in or .com
You will not leak any traffic to a someone typing .co.in my mistake.
If you are a developer you would also know that Keyword+Brand.com is good in so many ways.
And You don't need ccTLD to target a country on seo
You don't even need to write India.. Is it for SEO just branding?
