Hello Guys,

I want to know about namesilo. How good they are? Any disadvantage having domains with them?

Currently I am using Godaddy, Name.com and namecheap

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
To clarify, the Discount Program looks at active domains in your account across all TLDs, which we have denoted as "Active Account Domains". We cannot change this to "Total Account Domains" as it would imply we also count expired, restoration, pending delete domains in your account towards the discount tier, which we cannot factor in as it would complicate matters. Hope that clarifies the confusion.

You could have a footnote or asterisk to say this means "Domains active in account" and explain what active status means. Some just might think it meant being in use for a website or other purpose. I understood the meaning of active without explanation but some might not.

Is Namesilo serious about its new hosting service? I don't see any promotion so I hesitate to give it a try.

Thank you. So does Active Domains mean Unexpired Domains?

I mistakenly auto-renewed a few domains on NameSilo recently and was grateful to discover these renewals could be canceled within a few days of the renewal!

Thank you @namesilo for this great feature.

Only registrar to offer this, as far as I know

I don't see why not transfer/reg a domain there and try them out.

ICANN accredited, straight and aggressive pricing, looks like most features you'd want are there free (minus email forwarding?) and, bonus, API for everyone.

I know I will try them out in the very near future.
They allow email forwarding. But for some domains I use NameCheap's freedns.

Has @namesilo started redirecting expired domains?

Can you clarify what you mean by redirecting? We have been putting up parking pages on expired domains but that hasn't changed for sometime now.

Hi the redirects are to other sites, for example on this pattern for the domain example.com:

http://simcast.com/?d=example.com&s=fallback

Simcast says it is a site provided by Parklogic.com, but others go to Sedo and offer the domain for sale, with an affiliate taking a cut - but offering a domain for sale could put it at unwanted UDRP risk if the owner has not actually listed it for sale. Example:

https://sedo.com/search/details/?pa...r_1&utm_medium=Parking&utm_campaign=offerpage

Does Namesilo have a page explaining this process to customers?

This appears to have been a bug with our parking provider as redirects should not be happening. A fix has been pushed out earlier today. If you encounter any further issues, please let us know on here or at [email protected]. Apologies for any inconveniences caused.

I like NameSilo a lot. I have used pretty much every registrar and Namesilo is one of my main two registrars. The site is simple, secure and fast. Pricing is good. Also, I like their generous renewal policy as I renew my domains once monthly.

They're really weird at handling expired auctions. The domain has been renewed by the old owner but the auction link is still active and allows people to bid

Still happening, found a redirect to Sedo, not fixed yet.

Seems @namesilo no longer alert the domain owner when someone bids on your expiring domain - can @namesilo confirm this change, or is it a glitch?

Hey,

Can you please PM me the domain on the parking issue? (redirecting to sedo)

We should be alerting registrants when the domain is bid on - again - can you please PM me the details

For quite some time, you did not. If you are going to restore this feature - I'll be sorry to see this ;) As I may now again be in fact prompted to renew the namesilo regged domain which I actually did not want to renew... it is human nature :)

Yes true, but we do want to make sure the registrant is able to make a decision on their domain as long as it is in their control based on our TOS. From the other side, we also know of the issue around some users using our expired auction process to try to learn the value of their domains and renew the domain last minute - we will be adding logic to try to prevent last minute renewals after the 30 day grace period has been granted.

Yeah, a good development. If the domain received a bid - it should not be renewable :) Even though in most cases I still did not renew domains with bids (I renew domains before expiry normally... and for domains I do not want I simply remove autorenewal), I opted to renew domains later maybe 2 or 3 times... exactly because namesilo informed me that a bid was placed. What namesilo could actually do is to compensate the owner if their domain is sold as expired one. This would be fair ;)

Nothing bad with namesilo. All things work like a charm (at least the things I use). One of my favorite registrars.

I never used them because of their outdated design, seems like they did some improvements but it still does not attract me.

Thank you @kite26

@DigitalRoar Can you please let me know what we are missing that you'd like added, modified, fixed to help us gain your trust and to get you to try us out?

Just want to verify— are you guys sending emails with credit offers for auctions?

Hi,

Yes, we are working to offer credit limit increases on a case by case basis. We are working through our list so if you have bid on expired domain auctions before, expect an email from us soon. If anyone would like us to check your account sooner and bump up the credit limit, please ping me in PM

Hi as soon as I renewed the domain redirect stopped. But surely you can review a sample of domains you know are in expired status to see how the parking service provided to you by ParkLogic is functioning? From what Namesilo have said on here, there has been a glitch which was supposed to be fixed, but if it keeps happening it might be deliberate, and in some cases these redirects to ads or domain for sale pages could put the domain ownership at risk without the owner even knowing it.
