If it is almost obvious that the buyer is flipper, and the offer is at the low end of acceptable range, what would you do. For example what may be happening: actual buyer(enduser) went to a registrar such as Godaddy, and they received 500 offer, they go to Sedo as flipper-buyer and make 200 offer max, or with the hope of making us accept it immediately, offer, 300...

1. Then if I go to Afternic, and add fixed BIN price 450, will it help?
2.or cancel the offer, and add fixed 400 offer at Sedo,
3. or invite all potential buyers to Dan,.

I can just accept the offer, but they know who I'm , and once they learn which offers I accept, they lowball me eachtime, instead of making a fair deal. But if I stay firm with a 4 figure price, even if the actual cost was just 1, then I may lose on that sale, but win in other sales.
Here of course I blame marketplaces who hide buyers, and make sellers public.

-and those buyers are the ones , who often don't pay, and if they pay, request invoice to clean their hands(?)

Hi
i think:
if, you take your own statement below, as advice..... then none of the other stuff you said, will matter.

But if I stay firm with a 4 figure price, even if the actual cost was just 1, then I may lose on that sale, but win in other sales.

imo...

Agreed, but this doesn't answer the question. I'm asking which tricks would fix this flipper problem. If everytime I get 10 percent of actual sale price, this would be a disaster. But if I miss most sales, this would be another disaster. Marketplaces create lots of room for themselves and others to cheat.

Sometimes buyers make offers on multiple marketplaces when the owner doesn’t answer right away.

But if you think the same buyer is making different offers on multiple marketplaces to manipulate you, then try to be consistent. I wouldn’t jump around changing prices too fast.

When one of the sites is Sedo, that's a good thing, because if you decide you need to lower a price (and you did receive an offer) the site will email the buyer again with the new price, even if some time has passed.

I'd set BIN prices on everything, make the prices visible and stop providing discounts if asked :)

Self proclaimed brokers (no customer yet, but they still say they are a broker... just to receive a price... and spam the whole world with the domain presented as theirs) is a serious problem.

I'm trying to , either
-connect with a the actual enduser in some way, or,
-force the flipper into a more fair sale, or,
-sell to others for a better price while that negotiation is still active.

Another option: Accept the offer, then contact the actual buyer after 1 month, and ask how much they paid for the domain, and if they answer and prices don't match, this is an opprtunity to expose the flipper. But in my experience everyone always ignore whatever I say. Someone should make an experiment to check how marketplaces really behave. Follow the money.

Hi

if, you agree, then i answered the question
the problem is, you seem to be fixated on how to "fix this flipper problem", that nobody else seems to have.

when i sell a domain, i don't care if they are flipper or not
my concern is price and whoever agrees to it, gets the domain.

what they do with it after, is their prerogative.

not seeing any logic on this train of thought, so i'm off to see the wizard...

imo...

They can’t lowball you if you set your minimum closer to what you actually want.

You're overthinking. Either set the minimum offer/BIN higher or just reject the offer. Done.

You set the price that you want to sell.
It does not matter who the buyer is: flipper or swimmer.

People sent offers to me and said they are "Reseller". I replied "So What".

This is like , I want to drive a plane and fly close to the earth for the best view. I would adjust my height according to the geography of my coordinates. If I fix my height from the sea level, then probably either I can't have a good view or hit a hill or a tree. So what does flipper correspond to: it would be something which would force me to fly 10x higher than necesary by suggesting there is danger if I fly lower. What you are all suggesting is: fix your height and move on. Neither is good.

But what if they say they are not just a reseller but also a student intern? :xf.smile:

It doesn't matter if the person is a broker or flipper or domain investor, you specify your price, once the buyer pays, transfer the domain and move on. Don't contact the end user.

Philosophy² - true, though.

I don't care what a buyer does with a domain. Flip it, hold it, use it. Whatever. If I am happy with my sale, then that is all I care about.

Totally! How many new car salesmen show up in front of their past customers' homes wanting to know how these peple use their new cars?
