Here is one thing never to with bidder Bidder 913932 in the auctions or hd/GD or whoever it is. Can't be 100% sure. But I,m 99.99

Never bid on any expired domain at the expiry $12 auction wait until goes to the $11 close out. Bidder 913932 will just take it and out bid you if you put a bid in on the $12 side wait until it goes to closeout. Never attract attention. Now if two multiple bidders you have no choice but to bid and overpay or involve yourself but most likely it will include 913932.

If you see a list that these domainers that say "godaddy names with no bids" DON'T go out and bid on them. They're fine lists but again the mistake you will be doing is helping HD do the human work of it all and they will out bid you or make you pay 10x what you where before. Guess who that helps out?

Watch the auction during last 5 minutes if someone bids then go ahead and jump into the action but just don't bid on the $12 domain if it is a hidden gem you have found the autobots will jump on it.

2. Never bookmark a bid or save anything anywhere on any external site that you're are watching this name. Like a star or watch list. NEVER.

3. They don't bid around the clock everyday. So figure out when and what days HD stops bidding. Ask other domainers if they are seeing bidder 913932 is bidding. Don't do SUNDAY they love bidding on those days.

Report and share what your finding with other GD bidders on a form here.

Is it fair what this bidder is doing? I have no idea nor care but if I,m bored I start upping the bids at least 3-5 times on each name then they will stop. They will pay higher on each name. They can't afford this over time. IMO they will pay a certain % or up the bid so many times. Probably 7-8% of the max of the GD appraisal price. Not sure would be interesting to hear from others.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It just might help you to know that it is believed by some that they will bid up to 8-12% of the appraisal value this bot gives you: https://uk.godaddy.com/domain-value-appraisal

There are domains where they are bid up to over 20% of GD appraisal and still don't reach their proxy amount. e.g. recycle//my//car dot com HD won for $413 and GD appraisal is $1956. It is now listed for $5995.

wireless//times dot com HD's max was $439 (they lost) and GD appraisal is $2128, so again over 20%. There are more examples, just two off the top of my list.

If HD wanted it so badly they would of bid before you

Definitely not. With API access they can buy a closeout domain much quicker than a person manually doing so. It makes sense for them on domains they already decided they want to wait to see if it goes to closeouts and get it for $11 within a fraction of a second when it goes to closeout. But if you bid $12 and they want it, of course they will bid and keep bidding upto what I presume is a predefined percentage of what their appraisal system decides to price the name at.

For me I only bother with names I am willing to pay xxx+ for or names already in closeouts that slipped though the cracks. In general if I am not willing to pay at least 15-20% of the GD appraisal it won't be worth even trying unless its in closeout already.

Personally I just wish GD would open up the API to everybody.

I don't think any sane algorithm would use automated appraisal, at least the ones currently done by gdd and estibot.

Well first HD is far from sane. Secondly you can't actually expect they manually price all of their millions of domains, its done by their own script.

NOPE, HD waits until you bid then they come in. If they did a proxy bid it would show up at a bid. So there goes that theory.

You are spot on. I participated in two GD auctions, one yesterday and another today, where HD was the third bidder. HD maxed out at $263 and $194 respectively. The names shared a keyword and must-have fit their buying pattern.

Thanks for sharing this. I am really happy that you participated in auction and also observed their pattern. That was precisely my intention of sharing our bidding strategy and encourage people to compete with Bots. We individuals may not compete but together we can break this monopoly or make it so costly for them that they can stop random participation in almost all bidding.

We all should participate in our small capacity and become a change agent to shape this industry ensuring transparent, democratic and nonmonopolistic marketplace. Thanks

HD uses its AP access to scoop up dozens of domains per day. What people used to win for $15 or $25 now goes for $350 to $400. This is all automated likely using proprietary sniping software. Unless you really want the domain and are prepared to overpay, you will likely lose out to HD. GoDaddy doesn't care. I already tried that road. They just don't. Even if you let the domain go to the bargain bin, their software might get it the first few second it appears. Completely unfair? Yes! Level playing field? No! What can be done? I don't know.

I fell victim to this today when I bid on a name that had until the last 5 minutes only had 7 views. No interest whatsoever - the name did not appear on any auction lists from what I seen today on namepros so most people did not think it was that good.

I placed a bid with 5 minutes 10sec to go and within a minute HD had outbid me and had autobid the name to a preset level.

I'm interested to know if anyone ever bid on a name and then seen in the bid history that HD ID: 913932 was the FIRST bidder on the name? From what I can tell they don't do it. The only conclusion I take from this is that they must be able to snipe closeout names before anyone else so HD would rather people did what the OP is suggesting and not bid so they can steal the name for buttons at closeout.

I was the only person bidding against them and the only slight consolation I got from eventually losing the name is that I cost HD over 500 dollars for a name they would have for sure sniped for only 11.

Yes and it's very strange that they can keep overpaying like this.

I did what I was doing and suggested earlier. We were watching one particular domain which was good but we had no particular interest. This attached domain was bidded by one fellow domainer and then at the last moment Bot came and wanted to acquire it at $17. We responded and fight to make at a point when the price reached to $ 267 and then left happily :)

With this I am sure we saved more than 10 future domains from them. Remember hug portfolio is big assest and at the same time big liability also.

Yeah you can smell bidder 913932 coming and know its them even before the auction ends and the ID's are shown.

IMO the best strat for winning decent domains with no bids is still to wait until the last 5 minutes before bidding so you aren't giving the domain visibility to other human buyers, if the domain isn't on HD's radar they won't bid on it either.

If they do start bidding it up then I'm 98% sure you wouldn't have got it in closeouts because they were monitoring it and would have sniped it. In this case, just go to a certain XXX level and let them have it. If they want to overpay then so be it.

I've won a lot of domains that HD had no interest in by bidding in the last 5 minutes and also outbid them to low XXX levels. It's not worth risking going to closeouts if it is a really good name, can just assume they have spotted it and will snipe it.

I just got outbid by bidder 913932 HD.
It was an adult domain with appraisal of only $1100...nothing special about this name that anyone would really buy but i like it.
So I waited until 1 minute left.
There were no bids.
So I bid $12.
And boom...here they come.
So I slowly increased my bid upto $201 going back and forth with HugeDomains.
There were no other bidders.
So I gave up at $201 and they won.
I said to myself, I would not bid more than $51 but ended up bidding upto $201 ...
got caught up in the bidding action.
Now they are going to put this name for sale for over $2000 and i would not pay them more than $50...no one is ever going to buy this crappy name for more than $50.
I wanted it because it goes with my other domain that I own.
Anyways, lesson learned.
I should have waited for close out.
I guarantee they would have not sniped this name up in close out.
Only reason they bid is because I bid $12.
But i still can’t believe they had a proxy bid of more than $201 on this domain which was only appraised at $1100.
There is no way HugeDomains can be profitable doing this for this long overpaying for crappy names and renewing them.
I think GoDaddy secretly owns HugeDomains.

Yes. Notice how you can find zero information on huge domains. Visit their LinkedIn, not a single employee is listed. There is no information about the company whatsoever.

If Godaddy ends up buying Huge Domains at some point I will not be able to transfer my domains away from them fast enough, ditto Afternic.

IMO i stopped using godaddy auctions about a year ago, it was good the 2-3 years before, now anytime i bid on anything, i get competition. And it's weird to see domains go for 50, $100, $200 that are definitely not worth it IMO. Who are these people bidding these crazy amounts on domains. I think either newbies starting in "domain investing" or HD bot. i'll start keeping an eye on user # who bid

Godaddy owns afternic.

I think you mean if they combine the brands.
But some people think the trust “Godaddy” be leverage get more leads if used with afternic.

Why would they buy HugeDomains.? lol!

I dont think it can last either. Pandemic has increased auction prices because more people are sitting at home and want to get into domaining. When things go back to normal a lot less people will be doing it. If hugedomains adjust their buying strategy prices will tank as well
