What should NamePros add?

Good morning!

NamePros is working on a lot of new and exciting features, and many of them are thanks to member suggestions in our Comments and Feedback section.

We'd love to hear even more! What else would you like us to add for you?

All suggestions are welcome, from small and simple changes to big and complex features!

It is not required to use admob ads in case of Android for example, and same for iOS... a good way to show NP ads is to show them between posts for example, or for more exposure and reaching almost all users, is to use push notifications.

There is no problem at all in regards to ads, there is many ways to manage that.

NamePros administration should make it clear whether "No Trademarked domains for sale" rule applies to patented stuff: A quick g search shows the following:

Patents prevent others from making or selling an invention, but trademarks protect the words, phrases, symbols, logos, or other devices used to identify the source of goods or services from usage by other competitors

If patented stuff should also be disallowed on namepros, then np should disallow promotion or sales of coronavirus domains, as coronavirus is something that is patented by U.S. government institution:

As corona domains are extremely popular on NP, a separate clarification post or rule may be necessary. Alternatively, should NP decide to allow coronavirus domains, should we then safely assume that any other patented stuff is also fine to be sold as domains on NP?

My suggestion is NamePros should allow a real face photo, or no photo at all for avatars. Otherwise, this business community has appearance of a kindergarden full of Images of cartoon characters.

For God's sake, please add an opportunity to "ignore"("hide", or otherwise eliminate) a particular thread from being shown in forum views or "new posts" link output. There are threads I have zero interest in, but they are active. Interesting for some - no issues with this, to each his own. At this time, the only way to make such a thread invisible is to "ignore" the member who started it, which is not a solution!

This video briefly shows how things were set up at NamesCon (relevant content around 70 seconds in):

I'd suggest a few video features:

ability to meet with another member by clicking on an icon beneath their avatar
a virtual networking lounge where users can occupy tables for casual, spontaneous chats
a virtual amphitheater or keynote room for spotlight events

@Ategy regularly produces video events. He might have some good ideas for video networking features

Video is actually a LOT of work! time video editing has essentially replaced my time doing the lists for Namecult!

Can say the same when I produced The Domain Show conference .. and it's not just the Video Editing work ... but you also need content. And no offence to NamePros .. but the staff barely even participate in the discussions here at NamePros .. so I don't see them investing the significant more time to actually produce video content.

NP wouldn't need to produce content -- they could just create the possibility for users to produce content, as they do with text.

In one-on-one chats, informal group gatherings (virtual tables), and -- when someone has the desire to present something -- in a format that could accommodate that.

As you know, Ategy, video adds a whole new dimension for networking and sharing info.

I think many NP members would love it and use it frequently.

NamePros has produced some of the highest quality video content in the industry:

But, as you said, it's a lot of work and the industry is currently too small to justify the resources required for that level of production.

Fortunately, NamePros has some special things planned for the future.

I would like to see NamePros add a Discord, you could easily integrate with Discord as well. When a new auction is posted, it could be sent to a channel on Discord. You can make private Discord channels for donators on the forums and sync ranks.

Loodex suggested a new logo, but perhaps a slight change.

Have you guys considered using a brighter colour like orange for the 'PRO' in NamePros so that it stands out more against the navy blue background? The red is very dark.

It's not so much an issue with the site's logo, but the domain icon/ favicon could benefit from being more readable.

Absolutely!

The designers tried to change the background color, but then the "n" became illegible. They probably didn't consider changing the color of the "P" because these colors have been part of NamePros for a long time, but that'd probably be the best solution.

Let us run this by our design team.

They could always sell the “app” WITHOUT ads and go beyond ..it may be an investment that’s worth taking ..I personally don’t mind the website ..It fits well

Also “All watched threads” they only go by the last post or can I filter it by recently added to watch or date posted ? I don’t see an option to change it

Probably somebody wrote earlier about it but in marketplace section i see one upgrade. For me counter which will show how much you must wait before you can make next bump in exact thread. Obviously this counter will take into consideration what type of account we have.

I'd like to see a feature for members to bookmark specific posts in threads - perhaps include a method to tag the bookmark with a custom heading.

There is a wealth of information amongst the chaff, but it's sometime difficult to find it again.

Agreed; this will be available as soon as we finish upgrading our forum software.

Edit: In the meantime, you can click/tap the time on any post and then bookmark that URL in your browser.
