The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
“We are going to add a feature on site with the name Private Auctions. This will work like if suppose someone forgot or missed to do any back order and domain went to private auction so they will be able to see which private auctions are running and they can place bid with us and we will try to acquire that name under there bid.

If we won name we will charge them same as name sold in private auction + 10% service charges.”

So this is yet another way of front-running an auction, IMO. At scale.

If I entered a private auction, I’m expecting I’m bidding against participants ONLY and not some kind of proxy bidder backed by a group of people to whom you promote this auction.

I can’t believe this shit is happening in the domain industry and being promoted publicly now.

“This will work like if suppose someone forgot or missed to do any back order and domain went to private auction”

@Riz M. maybe you will also create a section called Private Liquidation and list the domains from DNWE as a matter of helping whoever was not able to register there (or got banned)?

It seems like they should switch to what dropcatch does. If there are multiple backorders then the domain is automatically open for public bid. But, if you want to call it private then it seems like a disservice to your clients to allow outside bidders to enter the auction late.

It’s also more work for catchservice to field and place bids for clients. This model makes zero sense to me, both operations wise and ethically.

Probably the right idea.

That does not really sound like a "private auction", if others can just jump in and bid.

That would be a disservice to those who participate. It’s doesn’t matter whether or not you would help somebody else at the same time, IMO.

Thanks for ditching this idea.

DNWE was just an example. I meant that if you move forward with your idea, what should stop you or anyone else making something similar using another (also private) platform?

Peace :xf.smile:

Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh. Im shocked that this kind of idea was posted on a popular industry website without any criticism thus making others think it’s something normal.

1. Can you show us names that have been caught and from which registrars?

2. What payment do you accept?

Since it's being removed I took it out of the interview Riz. I agree it's the right move and most fair for those who participate. If you miss out you miss out, that's on the domain investor.

I know nobody asked my opinion but they have been catching names for me since April and everything has gone very smoothly. @Riz M. can attest I approached him the second I saw he beat Dropcatch on 2 names I wanted. Is that going to happen all the time? No and competition will be more with more members but I am very glad to have another option.
