Always good to have a second place in mind. You can visit some and get a second passport just in case the country goes full on eat-the-rich. Uruguay, Costa Rica in the west, many countries in Central and Easter Europe, and a few in Asia. Almost all countries are tending toward authoritarianism, but some will be worse than others. Just by picking a country where half the people aren't crazy and working on destroying it, you would be ahead.

Asia (except for Japan) is getting more expensive. If you ever do move, rather than rely on savings, start a business that brings in local currency. Even a rental flat or bed and breakfast. Lot's of homeless Brits in Thailand these days. If I had to change countries, I might opt for Vietnam. Government sucks, but I think it will get better.

I have been to Japan 8 times, I love the people and the country, i have been to Thailand 2 times , I don't really care for it although the people are very nice, I have been to Vietnam 4 times, the people are pretty awesome there, I liked it there pretty well.

What a fantastic day today, we have been waiting for the VP choice for a long time now, Biden kept us waiting , but it was well worth the wait , I seriously thought Susan Rice was locked in and Kamala Harris was only a play. No Rice, No Chance at all. Tulsi Gabbard , Amy Klobuchar along with Susan Rice would have been a much safer bet with almost 80 days just left until poll day, But Joe intentionally played the race card and that will come back to bite the party very hard, Harris on top of it gives us a marginal win for 2020, Harris will crawl away when this over, This election should be tallied and conceded by Joe Biden before or shortly after the Midnight hour Nov 3rd

I can't ever thank Joe Biden enough for this, I'll take it as a blessing answered from God, Ask and you shall receive, In God We Trust Always

That clinches it for me to. I am pretty well sick of hot and humid weather, but the Vietnamese people just have a temperament that suits me.

Just went out for a walk. New place in my quiet neighborhood. A French guy has a cafe on the 2nd floor, there's a small bar and outdoor seating on the first floor, and next to that a couple from Hong Kong who just moved here. They are doing a French fusion restaurant, similar to what they had in Hong Kong but now just down the street from me Hong Kong's loss is my neighborhood's gain. Outdoor seating, the perfect place to stop between the subway station and my house. Some cities fall - some cities rise.

I heard it's because he's afraid she'll go after him if she becomes too powerful. She's embarrassed by their history and would like nothing better than for him to be gone.

I'm thankful I travelled to many foreign countries when I did. Those days are gone - history. I had planned to travel northern Europe this summer but Covid interruped. No need to go anywhere besides visiting my northern hunting/fishing grounds in the fall.

I might recommend you find a country with a cool climate, unless you like to live under AC.
