Likely an accident. It would be very hard for terrorists to pull off a bomb that size.

For reference purposes -

Timothy McVeigh used 4,000 pounds of ammonium nitrate to blow up the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City in 1995

This was supposedly 2,750 tons or 5.5 million pounds; 1,375x more than the OKC bombing.

Notice in poll (until now) 9 think accident & 3 bomb
This 9 people voted for accident because what say media or own think?
As far until now at least one fact not fit for "ammonium nitrate" based on previous accidents - black smoke - texas 1947 & 2013 - come after (due to ) explosion - and was much worst than explosion itself .
i don't see a black smoke & usual a kind of this smoke set on buildings, cars etc..so "clean" & quiet Beirut . (imo)
i "like" those sparkle from beginning explosion - remind me a device for demolition building
And come one 7 years need to be that amount to explode . in that heat / temperature region i think 2 - 3 years is enough

im not sure, but i read something later that said they had a tanker full of ammonium nitrate from russia that was beside a fireworks factory beside a granary. yipes. All kinds of elements together, they shouldve had these things separate just out of precaution also.

"The warehouse building, owned by Ruihai Logistics, is recorded in a 2014 government document as being a hazardous chemical storage facility" - one year of storage and explode | Tianjin (let's say 2 years) was enough to explode - not 7 like was in Beirut

How explode ammonium nitrate

Occam's razor.

Absent any additional information the official explanation seems plausible.

The sheer amount of explosives it would take to recreate that explosion would be hundreds or thousands of trucks worth. That seems far less plausible for a terrorist attack to have someone sneak in that amount of explosives.

I don’t see how something like that can blow up by itself. Really weird.

Ammonium nitrate can explode no doubt but this was with little help

Any numbers of things could trigger it. Storing that much explosive material, in an area like that, is a disaster waiting to happen.

That sounds like 'cherry picking'.

Most likely and simplest explanation (Occam's Razor) is that there was a fire in a warehouse, and one thing leading to another, it eventually ignited the ammonium nitrate stored there.

Many people are suffering, and pointing fingers or speculation at this point is unhelpful.

Happens pretty easily just need heat with all the fuel and that can be done with air and a few particles almost anything sets a fuel off their job was to not let it happen.
