I did an evaluation of my domain name on Estibot and it gave me a favorable appraisal.

Why is .link a trending domain extension?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I wouldn't say it's trending........only 7 reported sales this year....and only 3 of those look to be end user sales

work.link 156 USD 2020-06-19 Dynadot
bill.link 123 USD 2020-06-17 Dynadot
site.link 165 USD 2020-05-25 Dynadot
video.link 7,350 USD 2020-05-08 Nametree
shopify.link 3,800 USD 2020-04-21 Sedo
sponsored.link 1,888 USD 2020-03-09 TLDinvestors
hentai.link 123 USD 2020-01-19 Dynadot

This particular new gtld is not offered by GoDaddy (the largest registrar). How can it be trending then? With such a "saying", I'd rather question why estibot exists - what for?

Godaddy still rejects Uni / Unr ngTLDS

.link .click; only good Uniregistry ngTLDs imo

GD continue to reject all Uni-owned extensions

I'm wondering what value you consider to be a favourable appraisal?

If you have a superb keyword (see @NickB comment above) I imagine it would be considered sort of valuable eg: fashion, shop, news, etc.

I admit to having purchased one on special recently through dreamhost... just for the novelty of back-linking to one of my coms.

adultmovies.link

Estibot says $1400

Good keywords.

I think estibot is basing the value on keywords and not the extension.

Godaddy appraisal says less than $100, and then goes onto say that movies is a high value keyword that has an average sale price of $2440.

After looking at the values that @NickB has kindly provided, and taking into consideration the popularity of that term and exact keyword matches that you will get in search, I think that estibot valuation is probably quite reasonable!

.link domains are on sale on Dynadot $0.99...I'm hoarding these for a rainy day.

.link is a nice extension IMO, and if the keyword is right and sounds good with .link, while it is also for the good renewal fee, why not take few names.

I have only 1 domain in this extension, sex.link, and I personally do not care whether .link is "trending" or about what Estibot says .. as the only important question really is: does the domain sounds good to most people, or not? :)

Well that's certainly a category killer!

I think so too. But reading rest of the comments here, .com maximalists don't want any other extension to be given a chance. Link is directly related to the internet space. People want to have 1 link for their various social profile. It can also be used to generic web address like adultmovies.link if .com is not available IMO.

Nope, I purchased it on the aftermarket not long time ago. There is a small story behind it, and I was just approached by Theo from Domaingang to share it, which I did, so I guess in a few days more details will be out :)
