So I created a domain name marketplace using Shopify(link in signature). The homapage layout can be easily edited..

However, i really haven't forwarded any names to the site since earlier on...as I'm using Dan mostly and Squadhelp.

I want to know if the website has hope?
I have also included startups and a blog to aim for affiliate income and traffic.

But with so many decent marketplaces and now even squad help white label, I'm wondering if this shopify site is worth it.

I actually add it to my resume...lol.. and i put alot of work into it. But with ad-ons, it's $38.50/month.

What would you do???

I have no idea because you have not included the website name anywhere in your post ;)

I like the domain name and the site. Launchup is cool. Site looks good. Just very slow loading for me though.

Great name - looks great - you have some good domain names advertised, and a good customer reference from the 'bolt' sale.

It will cost you money to migrate or redevelop it. I'd say stick with it for three months or so, market it, and if it doesn't start making money after that time you should probably make a decision.

You could ask Shopify for a discount. I’m usually able to get a lower rate for my clients. They call it a “custom pricing” plan.

I like it and I like the name a lot, for me it has much better design and more professional look than SH whitelabel or others. The only drawback is the $39 monthly cost, if you have technical skills you can export the design (html & css) and build your own website without the need for shopify, but that is not easy task.

Great job!

At minimum, I would point all your Tier 1 & Tier 2 domains to your LaunchUp site. No reason to pay 9-20% or more if one of them sells. But in this case, you may want to have a link to escrow.com, instead of letting them put a $20k+ purchase on a credit card.

If you sell just 1 one of your better domains via LaunchUp, the commission savings will pay for 4+ years of the shopify fees. Plus it gives you a quick option to sell domains at a low 2.9% fee whenever you are in negotiations with someone. To me, it looks much more professional than sending someone a paypal invoice when you have no website.

Yeah, i don't have the budget for the development or the time now. I had names pointed to it for the testing period but no sales. Just one inquiry. and alot of spam. I started to forward the names to Dan because i was thinking serious buyers may not trust the site even though I'm using shopify to help. SH is free and they are still developing it so im giving that a try.

Thanks! I agree that one sale can pay those fees, but during the 1-2 month test period when the site launched i had no sales and 1-2 inquiries. Only for a serious name than anyone would want. So i started to feel maybe companies didn't trust an not so established to put their money, even though i'm using shopify. I know people were landing there from typing in names but no sales or inquiries. And i'm not sure what would happen is someone tried to steal a name buy reversing payment after they get the name. But i'll give it some more thought.

For now its Dan and testing Squadhelp....

Most people are saying to give it a chance... Though i'm in the middle of testing names with Dan and SH..

I have just changed back the header on launchup to the cloud/rocket launch header.. hopefully it works and can still be taken seriously?

Gotbrands.com is my other test site with Squadhelp... I would consider using that if they allow logo upload and improve the look some more....It's not as flashy, but it may come off more trustworthy.. What do you think?

Thank you! Yes, I think it's unknown to buyers, so it definitely needs investment for marketing. Maybe need some help. Somehow it needs to build trust also and get it's first direct sale.

Side note: There wasn't a way, atleast not that i know off to integrate an escrow button on each landing page. I have to simply add a clickable link below the domain description for each. I was also wondering if launchup should be used for something else and let gotbrands do domains.

But with this feedback, I do feel lead to consider keeping it live. Though it's a tough call to then take back all domain that points to Dan and SH and use back LaunchUp.

I think I prefer the layout you have on LaunchUp, but prefer the GotBrands name and logo.

On GotBrands your page TITLE is showing as "Kickass Domain ..." in my browser tab window. You may have done that for your own SEO reasons, but 'brandable domains' or 'brandable domain names' might be better for your SEO.

That's rare...most people love launchUp as a name more than GotBrands. However, GotBrands was the first name i invested in for a domain name marketplace and I do think it fits domain names better. Especially because LaunchUp is so diverse.

Thanks for the suggestion about improving my SEO. Brandable is common though i like it... I thought kickass would standout... I'll ponder this a little and see.

I've tried wordpress in the past, but I never felt the sites looked professional or serious enough to warrant trust from buyers. SH is free so i'm leaning there for now.

I have a apparel store on shopify and i loved being able to have a team backing me with sales etc... So I thought why not do something no one else has tried. A sale could make it worth it. But that may take alot more time and marketing. I just love quality man.

I like GotBrands because it describes your business perfectly within the domain name.

'Kickass' stands out once you get there, but if you want random people to find you via organic search, use the terms they are likely to type into search.

Perhaps today's kids use the term 'kickass domains' - I don't know ;)

Ok thanks, I made the update to brandable. Kickass may be trying too hard too...

It could take a few days to weeks for google to index that change.
After that happens, if you have access to site metrics, you may be able to see how people arrived at your site. I hope that works for you mate.
