Hey everyone! :)

What if we could play a game where you post your domain name and someone in the next post will give you quick feedback on it?

I find this idea exciting. That way we can have fun and hopefully learn together!

How to play:
  1. Share your thoughts on 1 domain name from the latest post:
pros, cons & (optionally) appraisal (at least 1 medium-size sentence, of course, you can do longer)
  2. Post your domain name you want to get feedback on.
Post example:

Your domain is short and sounds nice but I'm not sure if these 2 words go well together, each of them seems to be related to a different industry, I would price it at $1500
My domain: D i g i H u b (dot) com

The Rules:
  • You can post up to 3 domains per post for extra choice (but only 1 will be reviewed)
  • Only give feedback on the latest posted name (this will ensure everyone gets feedback)
  • Every post should contain feedback (use DM, chat & other site functions for other things)
  • Convert domains into Google-proof format (example.com >>> e x a m p l e (dot) com)
  • If someone's post is strongly breaking the rules feel free to ignore it or report.
If you feel that some rules need to be adjusted please send me a DM (to keep the thread clean and on-point).

A domain you post must be yours or clearly unregistered (owned by others are not allowed). Use anti-Google formatting for unregistered names.

Please, respect others and be nice, give the kind of feedback you would like to receive yourself :)

So let's go then!

There's already an appraisal thread that's a mile and a half long. You can do everything you mention over there.

There's already an appraisal thread that's a mile and a half long. You can do everything you mention over there.

It's a very different format from what we can see in the appraisal section. This thread is meant to be quick and on-point (as per rules). You also don't have to appraise here, you can just share thoughts on posted domains.

Please let's keep this thread on-topic. If you wish to use the appraisal section please feel free to do that, this thread has its own purpose. Thank you!

If you have suggestions or criticism, please open a new thread for that, post in chat or send me a DM :)

Thanks for initiative, @GoodKindName! Although I agree with @sircc that perhaps appraisal thread better place, even while understanding that you are trying to do something better. BTW I really like the format of your example, @GoodKindName.

1. So re L e a f y C i t y (.com). I like the positive modern feel of the name, and it could apply to many things (urban gardens, canna, city tree campaigns, tree/shrub service, tree planting service, gardening store, etc.). The two words nicely fit together, and of course passes podcast test and visual appearance memorability test.

When I Google exact term (in quotes) I get 59k results which is pretty decent. Many of them are related to cities that have re-tree programs. While that might well represent a sizeable market for the domain name, odds are that they might instead go for .org (available to hand reg) or even if wanted .com probably have a budget in $$$ range for a domain name, if that. I think canna or gardening service / shop best prospects for selling it in the low /mid $$$$ range.

The fact only one active business on Open Corporates with two-word name somewhat surprising, and that when I checked Dofo not other TLDs in exact term reg. I think the status of exact new extension, i.e. leafy with .city TLD of interest. I see it is registered but not obviously for sale or used. I would probably price low $$$$ but set the minimum offer quite low, and use offers and visits to help determine if a long hold is worthwhile. BTW the term leafy by itself is heavily registered, which is a positive.

2. OK by the rules as I understand them, I will now post one of my names for comment:
L o w C o n t a c t (.com)
I saw it as either consulting/services for low contact retail, etc., or low contact sports expertise re safety, gear like helmets, etc. Other possibilities perhaps in mediation or legal fields, but a definite stretch there. Welcome opinions!

Bob

PS As one clarification to rules, @GoodKindName I think you should explicitly state that people should only ask for feedback on names they currently own. I think most would just assume this, but clearly it is unfair to list for feedback someone else's name.

L o w C o n t a c t (.com) Could see that having excellent potential in a 2020 (and beyond) social distancing world. A low contact device? A municipal or regional plan for lowering close contact when social distance rules are in place. A low contact workplace. Travel plans. Other seating arrangement. The possibilities are boundless. Great domain.

My long shot, could use feedback domain is: U n f i a t e d (.com) - hand reg earlier this year, needless to say, have been market obsessed these past few months. See it as being tied to digital/crypto push.

To help the next poster stay within the nice rules (and you think my other domain name is cr@p, don't sweat it, lol), I also recently reg'd G o Y o l k (.com/.net). There's the obvious food use, but also thought of the yolk of a nest egg, as in a strong retirement plan... Dunno may be a stretch, Mind of a Domainer (could be a sitcom).

Thanks for the thread.

I highly appreciate your feedback here, Bob, it's glorious!
Agreed with you on the rules, it surely can do more harm than good to review names by others.

Now rules state that only member-owned and clearly unregistered names are allowed. Owned by someone else are not allowed.

One more likely fair and beneficial rule is added: give feedback only on the latest posted name (not on any from the thread). This will ensure that everyone gets feedback and is not ignored. Hope it helps to make things more fair!

Thanks for the thread.

Thank you for your contribution, Way3. Really good feedback!

I like your idea to allow the next person some choice if he's not sure what to say about a certain name. I think it would be a good idea to bring in this change to the rules: 3 domain names are allowed per post but feedback will be given only to one of them. Not sure what is downside of this rule yet but so far sounds useful. Everyone, please send me your suggestions & criticism regarding the rules via DM or incorporate them into your feedback post. Thank you! :)

FEEDBACK:
For my feedback, I've chosen G o Y o l k.
I think this name is a really interesting one. After some quick research of most used extensions, I can tell that many companies are happily using "Yolk" as their brand. I don't see any specific industry among them, it's quite universal which is great. Prefix "Go" is often preferred when one-word option is unreachable. So I believe this name has good potential! It's cool you were able to hand-reg it, congrats.

MY NAMES:
L o a d F l y (dot) com
G i k l a (dot) com
W e (dot) P h o t o s

Thanks for that note and the feedback. Much appreciated!

I really like W e (dot) P h o t o s. I see so much upside in registering non-traditional domains right now (whether other tlds or ngtlds, not everything will be able to be dot com in a burgeoning digital future). Also, and again related in part to our new world in 2020, I think photo sharing will only grow as grandparents are unable to visit with family in a distanced world. Nice one!

(edit - forgot to add three domains)

A few I recently have acquired:

O p t i m a l (.link) Self explanatory I guess

G o t i n E a r l y (.com) Early adoptor investors

P r o f i t i n g (.us) Moving into .us domains lately

O p t i m a l (.link) Self explanatory I guess

G o t i n E a r l y (.com) Early adoptor investors

P r o f i t i n g (.us) Moving into .us domains lately

Thank you for looking at my name! :)

I'd review O p t i m a l (.link)
What I like is that the word Optimal is taken in lots of extensions (213), also O p t i m a l L i n k (dot) com is taken which is good. On the surface, this combination is promising, feels like could work for a company providing Internet-related services (e.g. ISP, hosting, cloud protection, etc). It also looks really nice. But also there are things I'm not sure about. While the com version of this combination is taken, it's the only extension that's taken and it's for sale (likely by domainer) for 2995$. With new tlds I prefer to have a combination taken in several extensions and I like to see some of them being developed (it's is a sign that companies are comfortable with that name as their brand). There's also a bit of confusion with L following L. It sounds like Optima Link. While in your domain the words are clearly separated by dot, we can assume that company will be actually called and marketed as O p t i m a l L i n k (without the dot). But even with the downsides I still think it's an interesting name, would probably price in low 4-fig. I hope it's okay that I've looked at some potentially undesirable things in my feedback since this thread was also created for learning as well having as fun :)

Also, to everybody, feedback shouldn't be necessarily that long, 1-2 sentences will do!

My domains:
D i o p t i (dot) com
S i m p c y (dot) com
M t i v e s (dot) com

Next feedback-giver should pick just 1 :)

Hey guys, I invite you to join the game!
You can post the same names more than once to get more feedback on them.

It's a quick and guaranteed way to get feedback on your domains. So why not give it a try?
Let's skip my names in the last post and start all over! Just post your names.

in first place it looks a great name for all kind of designer people but providing your service rather than selling is more suitable. I mean it's kinda rude. may be buy my shoes would be more preferred on this type domains. Appraisal? I'm not qualify to state an opinion on that matter.

My domain is: m y d o m a i n (dot) biz

m y d o m a i n (dot) biz

I think the prefix of this domain name is very good. It is very attractive to many people in the domain name industry, but the suffix quality of this domain name is just average level. The trading volume and price of. Biz do not perform well in all the suffix. All in all, I think the domain name is worth $1000.

U P R U (dot) com - That's a strong pronounceable four letter domain name. I love that it starts with a real dictionary word "up". It's a strong, positive and popular keyword that can be suitable for various businesses. I agree with your decision to list this name on a brandable marketplace because it definitely is brandable. I visited the landing page and the price seems relevant. One thing I didn't like is the logo. I think it's really weak and may repel potential buyers. If there is such an option I suggest asking for logo redesign.

Thanks to everyone who joined this thread. It looks like we see a lot of great feedback here!

Thank you for your post, Haroon.
I would like to gently ask you to reread the rules. Any post in this thread should contain feedback on the name from the previous post. Your post is breaking this rule as you ignored the previous person's domains and just posted yours. I hope we can all respect each other here and treat fairly by following a few rules. Thank you!

Thank you for noting this, KingZee, you are totally right. Thank you very much for your feedback, Domain Services Corp. But it's important to understand that we will build a fair and useful thread only if everyone follows the rules. Besides, there are just a few of them and they are simple.

Your names were ignored, James, sorry about that. I will try to provide some feedback.
I'd pick P i o n e e r i s m for review.

I think it's an interesting name. The good: the word has a positive meaning. Also, the dot net version in active use by an Arabic conference. They can be potential end-user. On the downside, the word is a bit too long, not so easy to pronounce, and is rarely used. There are just 2 extensions taken which is typical for rare words. I would price it low-mid XXXX.

^ CupidForum is great, I see it work as a nice love related social forum. Since other domains like petsforum metalforum and musicforum sold for low xxxx$, it could fetch that price for the end user.

I will try to provide some feedback on your name since your domains were ignored.
I'm choosing N i i n k
This name is pronounceable, it contains only western premium letters, it's got some meaning although it's quite neutral (means "so" in Estonian according to Google), there is a music artist who might be interested in this domain but he doesn't seem to be very active recently. On the downside, this domain is taken only in 1 extension which suggests there is not a lot of value, also it's not very clear how to pronounce it, niin construction looks overloaded. I would price it like a regular made-up brandable, somewhere from 500$ to 3K$.

Okay, looks like we have 1 name left and I would like to paste it here instead of mine.
I know it breaks the rule "A domain you post must be yours" but I think this is a fair exception since the person himself posted this domain for feedback in this thread. I'm just repeating it to make this thread more fair.

It's from Domain Services Corp:

Looks like all these domains are leading to the same ongoing business, an ad-driven movie streaming site. Personally I don't see much value in the domains themselves. I wouldn't price them higher than mid - high XXX. But you can try to sell these developed sites for some good money. Flippa may work for you. Since we are doing domain feedback here, there is really nothing else I can say. Wish you the best of luck! :)
