There's a massive offer going on in .CO.
But the issue is that any good domain that you shortlist to buy, you would find that it is priced at $118. That is a lot to pay for a domain name.

How are you finding the .CO sale? Does it look like there are opportunities in this extension, especially with almost all good domain so highly-priced?

Back on the first I was Epik offering them for 99cents. I started searching for the 2000 most common first names (1000 male, 1000 female) from a list I found online. All were taken or premium. Then I put together a list of recently deleted .co names from expireddomains.net that met some basic criteria. (Such as it had to be taken in .com .org and .net, ect). I ran those names though their bulk checker. I had about 1400 that met my criteria. Only about 260 of those were still available and at the 99cent price. Promos have been going on long enough i think it'll take some imagination on your part to find some decent nonpremium names to reg.

You are going to have to be more creative in your research.

People are finding deals but it is like mining for gems.

So far in July we sold about 50,000 .CO at $0.99. I have been impressed with what folks have found from the $0.99 pool of General Availability (GA) pool. For July to date, Epik is the #1 .co registrar in the world.

Although the registration pace is tapering, we still see more .co registrations all day long. All the obvious stuff is now picked over, I would watch the .CO expiry stream to see what comes available each day.

There are still bargains out there.

The .US promo deal is also $0.99 and there are more bargains there. Although the buyers for those will tend to be more limited than .CO, the renewal fee is lower too.

50,000 wow. I can't imagine 50,000 names worth regging in 2020. Now one thing I like about this special, is to for at least a year spend .99 to block someone regging the .co of your .com. I had two lately where a company regged the .co and avoided making an offer or purchase on a .com I own and the names were not priced outlandishly, $1,888 and $3,000.

You would be amazed at what is being found, including today. It is not getting easier, but of the 50,000, I would say there was very little in the way of spam registrations.

The .CO renewals and transfers at Epik are also very competitive at $20.99 all-inclusive so really the carrying cost for a decent portfolio of .CO is not crazy.

If the .COM is not available, I would much sooner take the .CO before any other secondary registry.

I say this fully knowing that Godaddy now owns the .CO registry following the April 2020 acquisition of Neustar's registry business.

For now they kept a lot of inventory at GA pricing. As those domains drop, I could see that changing which is why I think NameLiquidate and other low cost expiry marketplaces are essential at this stage.

At this stage, folks can buy 100 .CO domains for $99. Sell 1 domain for $100 within 1 year and they are ahead of the game. Those odds are still good for quite a lot of names.

Pro tip for the booststrappers.

It makes sense to outbound some number of obvious names, e.g. someone buys a .COM in the after-market and the .CO was still available -- the .CO would be logical for them to secure for defensive reasons.

A quick flip of one decent .CO even on an outbound basis then covers the entire cost basis for the .CO purchase.

I would then put every single one of them on Epik SSL landers, adding whatever SEO content is useful, and just passively wait for inquiries until around month 10.

Then for the last 60 days, resume outbound.

And then upon expiry, send to NameLiquidate.

Anyone who cannot at least recover their capital using the above strategy, is probably not going to be a domainer for very long as that strategy is about as close to idiot-proof as exists for $0.99 .CO.

The .CO July anniversary sale is without a doubt the best deal of the year for generating asymmetric returns for bootstrap domain investors who are willing to hustle just a bit.

FWIW I just picked up more today than I did back on the first. Today brings my total to nearly 700 99cent promo .co's almost all one worders, some more esoteric as I cast a wide net to try a volume play. I seems to me $700 for 700 .co should get me a quicker return than $700 for 1 .com (assuming its not an atypical quick sell .com).

I tried something similar a few months back with .info on 1.25 a promo but on a smaller scale with just over 100 domains I was in the black by over $400 after about 2 and a half months on an initial investment of less than $150 completely passively. I think following these promos could prove to be a good option for increasing my budget to latter invest in quality .com's that today are out or my price range.

To give you an idea here are some that I managed to pickup just today in .co:

Granddaughter
Retrial
Sanctified
SchoolTeachers
Selflessness
Televised
Uncategorized
Volunteerism

There's no way I could afford any of these in .com today. I do not believe any good .Co can be found for hand registering too.
Instead of talking what amazing was found and trying to increase your .Co registration sales at Epik give people real examples.

Not cheap to renew, so Imagine there will be a very high turnover on these every 12 months.

I also expect dot com owners will be receiving a lot of unsolicited (unwanted) outbound sales offers when renewals are due.

There’s a lot of decent dictionary & keyword .co domains available which aren’t premium. I recently got about 100 at Epik but I think these have the best chance of selling:

You just have to search a lot & the Epik bulk search tool is quite time saving

Yeah I passed a lot of dictionary words which I wasn’t sure could sell..

You can try outbound it to the U.S military or some weapon manufacturers/retailers

I used expireddomains.net to find recently deleted .co names that met certain criteria almost all are one word, must be taken in com, net, org, ect. From there I did a bulk availability search on Epik, sort by price low to high, scroll down to where it goes from 99cents to a higher price and moving up check the boxes to add to cart while doing a quick eyeball check to make sure the name makes sense. That's the best method I've found to filter out premium and backorder names.

*IF* you renew them...that's not a requirement or anything, and 99.9% of them will not be renewed in almost all likelihood. There are a couple I am considering may be worth a full price renewal but that is definitively the exception not the rule. And nothing is set in stone, depends on how the next year goes, I am not committing to renewing any at this point, and expect for almost all the names that won't change.

Finally, this is just an experiment. My risk $700, potential reward, lets say 3 sales at $1,000 as a reasonable goal, and potentially more. Chances are good in my mind though to at least pass the break even point even it its not by much.

But in my mind an experiment like this is a great way to learn new things about the industry, practice some new negotiating techniques ect. In essence, I just spent $700 to learn something new, something the *MAY* yield a return, and quite frankly I expect will but this is neither death nor taxes so no guarantees. And if you cannot have a mindset like that or you don't think you have anything new to learn then something like this isn't for you.
