Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

Breaking news.

Coronavirus: Oxford vaccine can train immune system.

https :/ /www. bbc.com/news/uk-53469839 (Broken link as I am unable to post links.)

A coronavirus vaccine developed by the University of Oxford appears safe and trains the immune system.

Trials involving 1,077 people showed the injection led to them making antibodies and white blood cells that can fight coronavirus.

The findings are hugely promising, but it is still too soon to know if this is enough to offer protection and larger trials are under way.

When a body is injected with aluminum ( adjuvants in vaccines ) .... Of course it will rush to create antibodies.

Since you don't seem to happy with this breakthrough, what do you think should be done?

I've added Chile to the list as it looks like their numbers are increasing. May remove Japan as they truly seem to have a handle on things.

Study says actual number of Covid-19 cases is far greater than thought

(CNN) The number of people who have had Covid-19 is much greater than the official case count, according to data and a new analysis released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday.

Depending on the region and the time period, the number of people infected was anywhere between 2 and 24 times the number of reported cases, the CDC team said.

"For most sites, it is likely that greater than 10 times more ... infections occurred than the number of reported Covid-19 cases," the team wrote.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/21/health/us-coronavirus-tuesday/index.html

Some of us in the thread have been speculating about this for awhile, but here it is from the CDC.

This is old news and clearly proves how non-lethal this coronavirus strain actually is.
At least your CNN post is citing data from the CDC.

The data is already in: 0.0026% fatality rate. It may even be less.

The jig is up.

On April 11th I posted my estimations that the real coronavirus infected number was around 10 times more than the reported number, and it looks that I nailed it.

https://www.namepros.com/threads/covid19-coronavirus-updates-and-news.1178134/page-107#post-7717165

And the coronavirus deaths are between 1.2 and 1.5 more than the reported cases.

Tell that to the families of the 144,953 dead people by covid-19 in the USA in 4 months (and thanks to the confinement, face masks and social discance, because without them the number would be 10 times greater).
Or to the families of the 619,467 dead people by covid-19 from all over the world.

I wonder if those whose bodies were picked up out of vehicles or off of the streets knew it's only the flu?

Virus slams Bolivia as hospitals say: ‘There is no space’
Hospitals are full of COVID-19 patients and short of staff, keeping their gates closed and hanging out signs that say: “There is no space."

Coronavirus Live Updates: U.S. Surpasses 4 Million Known Infections

Alabama, California, Florida, Idaho and Texas recorded daily death records.

....the number of people hospitalized in the country on Wednesday very nearly exceeded the previous high of nearly 60,000, set on April 15 when the outbreak was largely concentrated in New York. Cases are now rising throughout the United States, and hospitals are feeling the strain.

The world needs a 'people's vaccine' for coronavirus, not a big-pharma monopoly

Granting one company exclusive rights to the science, knowhow and intellectual property of a coronavirus vaccine will prevent us from getting the billions of doses that the world needs. No private company, however committed it might be to delivering a vaccine, should have a monopoly over this public resource. A global pandemic is not the time to artificially ration the supply of a medicine because of failed ideas about the sanctity of intellectual property. Nor should the market be protected simply to serve the interests of pharmaceutical corporations.

It’s also important to remember that AstraZeneca didn’t discover this vaccine. Billions of dollars of taxpayers’ money have been poured into the development and production of a Covid-19 vaccine. AstraZeneca has received $1.2bn from the United States government alone, and at least £84m from the UK government. Nor is the company bearing the risks of this innovation alone: governments are already committing to purchase the vaccine in advance of its production.

Boris Johnson says 'anti-vaxxers are nuts

Boris Johnson has said people opposed to vaccinations are “nuts” as he promotes an expanded programme of flu jabs that ministers hope will ease pressure on the NHS if there is a second wave of coronavirus this winter.

Visiting a doctors’ surgery in London on Friday, the prime minister said to staff: “There’s all these anti-vaxxers now. They are nuts, they are nuts.”

DOCTOR RUNS 22 MILES IN FACE MASK TO PROVE THEY DON'T LOWER OXYGEN LEVELS

A doctor in Yorkshire has run 22 miles in a face mask to prove that it does not reduce oxygen levels as some have speculated.

Tom Lawton is a doctor at the intensive care unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary and has been working through the pandemic.

In order to debunk the myth that wearing a face mask reduces oxygen levels and encourage people to wear masks when they leave the house, Lawton decided to run to work and back wearing one.

The first practicing medical doctor to play in the NFL opts out of the 2020 season

(CNN)Super Bowl champion Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, the first practicing medical doctor to play in the NFL, has decided to opt out of playing in the upcoming season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"This is one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make in my life but I must follow my convictions and do what I believe is right for me personally," the 29-year-old Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman said in a Twitter post. "That is why I have decided to take the Opt Out Option negotiated by the League and the NFLPA and officially opt out of the 2020 NFL season.

"Being at the frontline during this offseason has given me a different perspective on this pandemic and the stress it puts on individuals and our healthcare system. I cannot allow myself to potentially transmit the virus in our communities simply to play the sport that I love. If I am to take risks, I will do it caring for patients."

The Supply Chain to Save the World Is Unprepared for a Vaccine

Already stretched thin by the pandemic, freight companies face problems ranging from shrinking capacity on container ships and cargo aircraft to a lack of visibility on when a vaccine will arrive. Shippers have struggled for years to reduce cumbersome paperwork and upgrade old technology that, unless addressed soon, will slow the relay race to transport fragile vials of medicine in unprecedented quantities
