so i've been domaining for 5 years.. and its been all regs for me (99%) ... and 99% of those were off fresh expiries. so I wasn't really expecting bigger sales .. i guess u could say aftermarket buying for resale is still something thats ahead of me... and i do look forward to it indeed.

that being said... my highest sale so far was 4 figures... 6xxx... so today when i had first offer in low 5 figures, which looks rather genuine ... i thought i'd make post of it... for others to learn from and for those with more experience to comment on.. and for me, well, to make my first 5fig sale as big as possible... :) thus... how would you respond to such bodis inquiry? its a 2-3 year old .ca handreg... taken in 30-40 tlds... let me know yer thoughts.......inquiry quote:

Offer: USD 12500

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Glad it closed. 4K seems a great price for that .ca

Congrats @alcy .

There is one thing people keep doing.
Talking about an ongoing negotiation on namepros..

Anyone looking to buy a domain will find namepros if he/she googles "domain for sale", or "domain name trading", or anything related to selling domain names.

Chances the canadian corporate buyer knows about NP, some percent..

Chances the broker tasked with closing the deal on behalf of the client has done some research and found about np, very very high %.

I've seen other threads where people were being tactical, talking about their ongoing negotiation saying things like "the name is worth much more, if I wait a little I can get a better offer" type of stuff.
But you in this case have given waaaaaaayy (!!!) too much info lol.

Glad you got 4k.
But next time, watch out.
You can share a negotiation once it's done.
If you need help, message experienced members for advice.
Then when it's done, you can choose to share on NP.

as far as things that should not be done or shared on np... I have seen a million others worst ones.

i think this is fine.

especially since you seem the only one to say it is not.

do appreciate the concern though. i know you mean well to me and all others.

cheers

thanks.... your a good sport as always!

as i said its real hard to make 5 figures on few year old handregs... but doable!

i shall be exploring aftermarket buys soon too.. just never kinda get around to it... busy with all those freshly expired regs... in various tlds and niches! :)

Depends on the name, but you know that AbdulBasit always counters those like a pro and ends up with more ^_^.

I myself have sacrificed a lot in the past but of course no regrets because I knew what I was doing by selling cheap. But I wanted to come in strong position so one day I can ask what I want for any particular domain.

Still I keep selling for low IMO, but those I do for low tier domains so I can hold mid-high tier domains for the best possible prices.

It takes time because many of us don't have enough cash flow to sustain for long period of time. So we need to keep selling domains bit lower than what we are ideally looking to sell it for.

It really depends on how much you think it is worth. Some names i wouldn't sell under 6 figures. Sometimes the initial offer was higher than you'd expected.

Sometimes offers don't convert to actual sales. I've had a 5 figure offer, negotiated to a price and payment arrangement, the buyer dragged his feet, then ghosts off.

Glad to hear they paid and done @alcy. Congrats! Not many few year old .ca go for that amount, so great sale. Happy for you.

Always counter at least double.

What I mean in case it wasn’t clear is - I’ve received low five figure offers on domains I have listed for a lot more or that are worth a lot more than low five figures. I almost never see a legitimate offer start off at full value.

How do they usually go for you? Do they reach out and ask if you will go lower? What do you say then or is it case by case?

Accept it, this company only needs this name to work in toronto (canada wider) so i think they already had an other global extension
