Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

Congrats. It's great to see the list growing. Is it possible to sort them by alphabetical order?

I like it, could easily be marketed as a site for individualism or a 'cause' site. (y)

China is great! I have a few geo-hacks like Anchorage, Brugge. Also, Sverige (Sweden in Swedish) could be teamed up with your Sweden.io :)

Thanks!

I lost Sverige (Sweden in Svenska) and Norge (Norway in Bokmål) along with Mortgage, when they were available. Submitted the registration request in mid 2009, but the registry has refused my request. The first two geo domain hacks were available until 2012. Not just these three, I have lost several prime gems including Rugby, Games, and Credit purely because of the notorious staffs from the respective registries. Since then, I stopped wasting my time with those ccTLDs. I am happy with the ones I have in my portfolio.

I own the .co versions of both Sverige and Norge. They are currently being developed as travel websites, as part of the network of Pure Country Geo domain names that we operate, which includes websites like Ellada (Greece in Greek), Türkiye (Turkey in Türkçe) in .co. Österreich (Austria in Deutsch) is awaiting development too.

Unlike many domain hack investors, I develop and monetize the names I own.

Happy to see domaining veterans here :)

In 2009 it was a completely different time for .GE... The process was terrible - paperwork, local patent attorneys, progressive pricing for domain portfolio, etc. It was so discouraging that I just refused to register lots of really good hacks and keywords.

As for your mentions: I wasn't quick enough to reg Norge and it is now developed website for radio station. Mortgage is a redirect domain for some US mortgage website for many years. Rugby is owned by World Rugby and as I guess .BY has changed overall, as I was able to get Somersby in a minutes.

Developing your own domains is something I know is very right, but never managed to achieve for myself :)

I think that it could be a nice idea if Nami.ng have a section for hacks which are for sale.

I've lost plenty of domain hacks due to cctld administrator incompetence. My favorite story was recycle.it which required a fax to the registry and by the time that was arranged the domain was gone :(

Are you based in Georgia? I always wondered.

So, you've lost the chance to reg it? Or to renew?

It's not just incompetence. I call it as an organized cheating. I submitted a request for cred.it through Godaddy when it was available in 2009, but the staff working at the registry has delayed the registration process and asked me for a signed document, even though I used Godaddy's trustee service. When I sent a one on the same day through fax, nothing happened. The domain was available for three more days. On the fourth day, the domain got registered by someone through another local registrar. Godaddy has simply refunded the registration fee and said, "sorry, the domain wasn't available".

Too many war stories to tell. Thankfully the registry never blocked my attempts to register multiply.it and subtract.it.

Favorite one is the old administrator for .AI. Had a phone call with him (which cost me a pretty penny) and he kept rambling on and on.

I still do own creditsco .re though :) Owning cred.it would have been incredible.

Hello Domain Hackers! What would you estimate the price of a domain hack where the dot com was sold for a high price? Example: casino.com was sold for $5.5 million, what would you say casi.no would be worth?

low-mid $xxxx reseller price. Low five figures if you can get an end-user to bite.

In my opinion, that is VERY low for a domain that would be used in a $500+ billion dollar industry. My estimate would be any where from 5-25% of the dot com price.

25% is insane, let's say casino.com is a $5,000,000 name, nobody is paying $1,250,000 for casi.no

i could see it going for $50,000 to the right end-user, if you wait a few years/get lucky, who knows, maybe even $75,000, which puts you at 1.5%

if casino.com is a $10,000,000 name, that cuts it in half

People do insane things all the time. Yeah, 25% was the high end of my estimate. If I owned the domain, I would put it at 6 figures minimum. $50k is like around 5 bitcoins. People said cryptocurrencies were insane back in the days but look at it now. Some guy spent 10,000 bitcoins on 2 pizzas, now that's insane at todays rates.
