Hey Guys!
I hope everyone is doing well and keeping healthy and safe. You and your families and friends.

I was doing some outbounds and mentioned this one company to them about how they owned some of the best EMD Geo domains. I used them as an example to try to sell them my best EMD Geo .com domain Primorsky.com.

You would be amazed as I was when you see the ridiculous amount of EMD Geo .com domains this company owns.

My jaw dropped.
I think I even drooled.
You probably will too! or maybe you are just too cool for school? lol

For me in the "cheap seats" I couldn't help but be envious. Who would't when you see their domains below.

The company is called Pear.com. Just look at their portfolio below via link below. I'm too lazy to list the domains here as it's pretty extensive. They own domains like Paris.com, Tokyo.com, Russia.com, Turkey.com, London.com and others.

http://pear.com/#portfolio

well back to my "cheap seats" lol. Imagine owning any of these? I can't even begin. lol

These are like a domainer's wet dream. lol

Anyone with any history on the domains they own? like who use to own them and how much they probably paid for each domain? and what if they tried to sell each domain would they get for each particular domain?

As a whole how much would their collection be worth? Ball park?

not that I'm buying. just curious. Thanks.

I am a strong geo .com lover and I have noticed pear.com and keep my eyes on watching them since last year, I also posted a similar thread asking if anyone ever heard of pear.com but no one really replied me except equity78, https://www.namepros.com/threads/ha...ar-com-a-super-premium-geo-com-owner.1158433/

It looks like that they recently acquired Pakistan.com with an undisclosed amount because I didn't see it in their portfolio list last year, and most interesting thing is that all of the geo .com domains own by Pear.com is developed by Yelp, I am very curious to know the relationship between pear.com and Yelp.

All the clues I found currently is that the founder of Pear.com is a Korean, and they also have an office in China.

Is it developed by Yelp or are they just using their API (Fusion)?
https://www.yelp.com/developers/documentation/v3/get_started

Looks like it is the API to me as I can't find any info on Yelp website design services...could just be me looking in the wrong places though

Maybe you are right, Pear.com may be just using Yelp's API.
I am asking it just because I see that every geo website pear.com owns have a "Powered by Yelp" logo in the footer page. (see the attachment)

To own America.com and develop it to have just Alexa.com of 1.2MM tells me they don't generate almost anything beyond simple type in. They are good at investing at great names, but developing them is not there forte...

Noticed that as well, I think it is just part of their API T&C's (display requirements)

Bayonnes.com
JerseyCitys.com (where I'm from.)
LemhiPass.com (largest deposit of Thorium in the world)
Primorsky.com
GreaterBays.com 69 million people

Covering 56,000 square kilometres (about three times the size of the San Francisco Bay Area), the Greater Bay Area has a combined population of over 69 million people and GDP of around US$1.5 trillion (comparable to that of Tokyo Bay Area and New York Metropolitan Area).

I too noticed this, I think that it is the most bizarre thing that Pear.com spent a lot of money on acquiring premium geo .com domains and developing them but they don't even promote their websites except receiving direct navigations...

"Little known" - this wording surprised me. :xf.eek:

Anyway, it would seem that their (published) portfolio is indeed impressive. But remember that Geo-domains keep on getting periodic marketing boosts because they do sell and the inherent value is realised, this boost then trails off - until the next acquisition is made (whether by Pear or someone else) when again everyone shouts about it.

As for them not 'developing' fully the sites, well they do not need to. I think what they are doing is showing what can be achieved to a final end-user investor, and that demonstration means that domains / sites, such as London.com, is worth far more than just having a for sale landing page. Suddenly the 'marketing' of the 'site' and not domain name becomes what is being valued. No income, or very little, is made by the sites, but that means they are 'clean' in a development sense, ready to go with no re-branding needed.

Pear.com definitely has a business vision, and whilst you and I rely on making money from our investments either by reselling or developing them commercially Pear obviously does not need to do this. Their assets they keep clean.

All us poor domainers would just love to own one of those domains, but to have the whole portfolio - well I think most of us would think we had just been given the keys to Heaven.

Yeah I noticed Pear owns some top country .coms

Just wondering, who are the end users you target for these kind of .coms?

With these kind of domains you do not target them, they come to you.

Well, isn't that the whole point?

Those names aren't simply geo domains, they have the potential to be international brands with tremendous value.

Their value is probably in their brandability.

imo

any other companies that seem to have an inventory of super premium Geo's?

I know Domain Market owns Mali.com

The @Castello Brothers own quite a premium portfolio of mainly city domains, and they have and are developing them.

It might well be worth a visit to www.ccin.com . (y)

yea worth the visit if I have a couple million.

I'm "that guy" who will never walking into Louis Vuitton on 5th Ave just for a "look see".
If I can't afford it, why bother? lol

I'll stick to the "cheap seats" :xf.wink:

I like a lot of domain names,
I wonder when I'll get a good domain name like theirs

Thank you for sharing. I looked at their website and it was amazing, but the domain name of the country may be more difficult to use. Anyway, it's still impressive.

Keep track of warlords anywhere that acquire "new land" by annexing new territory and then they name it like.

The Country of "imabadass"

That actually would be a great name for a Country.

I can see it now~

imabadassrealestate.com
imabadassnews.com
imabadasshotels.com
imabadassbank.com
imabadasscoin.com
imabadasscars.com
imabadassproperty.com

etc etc etc.

I know Domain Market owns Mali.com
I know very well about this topic, besides Pear.com, there are also several big geo .com holders that have a remarkable portfolio of geo .com domains:

1. WN(WorldNews.com) & TravelAgents.com - Dubai.com, Prague.com, Oslo.com, Brussels.com...
WN may be the biggest owner that has most high-end geo .com domains not only in quality but also in quantity. (view portfolio) *WN even hand-registered many less known geo .com domains like KatimaMulilo.com, where is just a small town in the African country Namibia.

2. Scandnet AB - Copenhagen.com, Stockholm.com, Riga.com, Warszawa.com ...
A Sweden based company that owns some major European capital cities .com domains, I dreamed to own any one of their geo .com domains....

3. BestWeb.com - Cappadocia.com, Valletta.com, Bougainville.com, Batumi.com....
A Hong Kong based company but the founder seems like from Turkey. They own several hundreds of global geo .com domains, they are probably the top 2 geo .com domain holder in quantity right after WN.
(view portfolio)

4. Castello Brothers - PalmSprings.com, Tijuana.com, Acapulco.com, PapuaNewGuinea.com...
Everyone is the domaining industry knows of them, no need extra explanations. They own a certain major cities .com in America and also a few capital cities .com in Asia like Bishkek.com. (view portfolio)

5. Geocentric Media - LosAngeles.com, SanFrancisco.com, Houston.com...
They own a lot of major US cities .com, and they are selling their portfolio now. Definitely a multi-million dollar geo .com portfolio for sure... (view portfolio)

If anyone of you knows other owners that have an outstanding geo .com portfolio but I didn't mention above, please feel free to share with us! :)
